@montegod7ss No, no... the shots on the padlocks were at 100 FEET. That's only 33 yards. My guess is that they wanted a distance that was "safe" from flying debris, but still close enough that the shot wasn't a challenge from a bench with a scope.

@slapsick no this test is stupid. The first franklin took like 5 rounds, the master lock was only shot once which proves nothing. The second franklin was shot once in just the right spot and it opened. Pretty sure it depends on the type of round and type of gun used and where you shoot it at.

A Desert Eagle does not carry 50 caliber rounds. A single 50 cal Sniper Rifle round would not fit in the entirety of the Deagle's clip, let alone 7 of them. You seem to be mistaking weapon calibers. There is a difference between the 50 a Deagle uses and a 50 a sniper rifle uses.

Oh yeah, because a robber would fire one of the loudest guns on the planet to break a lock.

@JrvUnleashedMusic actually, a Desert Eagle does carry .50 cal rounds. about 7 per mag (9 if you got the money for the particular model that carries it). Which is why it requires so much weight in the barrel so you don't take your hand off from the recoil. Both a sniper 50 and a DE 50 punch the same size holes and are practically the loudest guns in their catagories.

@JrvUnleashedMusic You are both wrong. Caliber refers to the diameter of the barrel, not length. Both the M82 .50 caliber rifle and the Desert Eagle have a barrel diameter of .50 inches. The bullet used by the M82 is considerably longer than that of the Desert Eagle's, but they are BOTH .50 caliber rounds.

@weLiKeoaTs Originally, caliber or calibrea s the brits spell it, did refer to length of barrel. It was a multiple of diameter to give barrel length. Mostly used for cannon on ships or artillery on the ground. A 4in. cannon with a barrel of 30 calibres would have a 120 in. barrel or 10 ft.

Mythbusters did a similar test with Masterlocks... handguns up to a .357magnum and .45ACP did lots of damage but did not render the lock useless. They then bumped up to a 7.62x51mm rifle -- which had similar effects of what is shot above.
