At 5:46 they show the end of the period and a guy skating away with Buffalo's goaltender. That guy, he looks like Tim "Dr. Hook" McCrackin of The Syracuse Bulldogs from the movie "Slapshot". Is that the guy who played him or do they just look alike??
I remember Sports Illustrated called this series "The changing of the guard" - lol. Canadiens go on to win four straight cups with the most dominant team ever
Sweet, thanks! I am saying this as a compliment, the sabres are one of the best teams ever to not win the cup due to the fact that they defeated teams mighter than them like the habs, here for example.
@MegaWolfgang Nope they won in 6...Buff won the first two games at home 6-5(OT),4-2 then got blown out 7-0 and 8-2 at the Forum in Mtl. then back to Buffalo for a 5-4 OT) win and then game 6 in Mtl edging the habs 4-3
This was Dryden's first year back after the contract dispute. He struggled at times to regain the form of 1971 through 1973. By 1975-76 he was an essential ingredient of the string of four Stanely Cups won by one of the greatest teams ever assembled.
a classic....please post more 1975 playoffs if you have them...Danny Gallivan and Dick Irvin were the best. .."a save of gigantic proportions made by Dryden"..."Crozier with a scintalating effort"...
I remember watching this series. I am a Habs fan, yet still found myself happy for the Sabres.
Time has given this series new meaning for me. On the very night the Sabres wrapped up the series in Game 6; a baby girl was born in what is now Ukraine. I would meet her 25 years later in a dance ensemble.
Thank for also letting me re-live the very last goal scored in the illustrious career of the 'Pocket Rocket', Henri Richard.
11 Stanley Cups is a record that will never be broken.
Well, what WAS the organist playing? The NHL should ban the use of loud pop music in all arenas and make it a requirement that every arena have nothing but organ music. Brittany Spears et al have ruined the atmosphere of hockey.
"You'll Never Know" is the song they are playing. I agree about the organ music thing. (Though I also agree with Reggie Dunlop. (slams organist against a wall) NEVER PLAY LADY OF SPAIN AGAIN!
@wurlitzer78 Its the same everywhere these days except for maybe MSG...the last of the great arenas...todays NHL is hype driven shadow of its former self...stupid corporate arenas...loved those afternoon playoff games from Buffalo...this was a great series...although i was a habs fan, i really liked this Sabres team and was bummed they lost in the final...watched Gare play his junior with the Centennials
Looks so much better without ads splattered all over the boards.

I'd rather see Game 1 of this series when Rookie Danny Gare scored the Overtime Goal to beat these Canadiens!

Which team won that series?

Buffalo did. They went on to play in the final vs. Philadelphia, but the Sabres fell short. Philadelphia won the Cup.

The organist was Norm Wullen, one of the best of his day. I agree, I miss the organ music...too much loud metal music to pump up fake excitement.
