If you play the Wandering Child scene and have a different tab in the background of the 2004's wandering child clip playing at the same time, all five voices go together harmoniously. Srsly!! It sounds really beautiful if anyone wants to try it :)
The phantom deserves better!!! All those years stuck in a sewer, with no championship, no love... no care. Raoul NEVER protected her and the Phantom was the angel over her shoulder!! Who was the one who ALWAYS spent time with that old fart and Paul?! RAOUL!!! so (BLEEP) you Raoul!!! (BLEEP) off!!! YOU DON'T DESERVE CHRISTINE ANYWAY BUCK-O!!! HER FATHER DIED!!! SHE DESERVES BETTER!!!! AND .P.S, SARAH BRIGHTMAN, AND THAT OTHER GUY SUCKS!!!!
honestly, this is ridiculous. In the book, this happens in the beginning, and they both fall under his trance, mainly Raoul, who faints on the steps of the church and nearly freezes to death until someone finds him in the morning. And, there is a difference between Raul and Raoul.
It's a shame you can't separate voices on a recording, as Gerald Butler shouldn't sing until he gets some lessons, but I think Emmy is the better Christine. Yes, Sarah Brightman is a far-superior singer and the musical was written in inspiration of her voice, but I think Emmy has a better voice for the role, and pronounces things more ordinarily (operer in Brightman's case).
Christine may not be useless but she isn't very aware, no offense but other than her voice she isn't that smart! She is a complete idiot! She knows the Phantom is after her, then she sees him and she walks toward him, like she is entranced! It's like "Hello Christine, just pointing out, he is a stalker with the voice of an angel. Oh! and with a maniquin of you in his basement, sure walk toward him...... You do that!"
I love Gothic style movies and books, (especially when they try and make it steam punky) but why oh why is the heroine always so ridiculously useless. And still girlishly pretty. Ah well, still thanks for uploading!
@Blackthorne369 I don't know if you could call Christine useless because technically she is smarter than Raoul because she's more aware of what Erik is capable of and she uses that to save Raoul. So, despite Raoul trying to save her, she saves the day in the end. There's also Mina in Dracula, who proves to be just as brave and intelligent as the men. Then there's Esmeralda, who starts off as strong by caring for others until Pheobus arrives and, of course, no Brontë heroine is EVER useless.
I absolutely love this song, my favorite in the whole movie. The best part is the harmonization between the two which is just so amazing. But......when they have a trio like this....I'm sorry, but with the trio its almost too much. Almost too noisy, though obviously they sing very well.
I just wish they would have skipped the Raoul part singing along. This is a song between Erik and Christine, Raoul is just butting in >:|
@panoramiccc I agree. I like this song too. But I call this song "The Song Were Christine and Erik Sing and Raoul is Ignored, but he butts in anyway." This is one of my favorite songs despite the fact that Raoul is singing in it.
I was hoping in the movie they would have Bravo Monsieur...but really I can only listen to Michael sing it lol because he is just amazing at it and I don't know he gives a sort of evil mischievous flair to that song.
I know, I was a bit irritated too when I read it, but just to be fair, not everyone who saw the movie was exposed to the original stage cast first. I mean, when I first saw the movie back in 2005, I had only heard maybe 2 or 3 songs from the Original Cast Recording and had seen a few pictures.
I am really happy that people recognize Emmy's mastery of this role. I was so afraid that people would discount her because of her age and relative inexperience. She is magic in this role. I have seen Sara live in NY, London and Toronto. She can't touch Emmy.
This scene is so much more interesting on stage, with Erik shooting fireballs out of his cane and taunting Raoul to come closer while Christine watches in terror.
I prefer Emmy Russom's voice to Sarah Brightman's. She just has that helium induced voice that's really squeaky and annoying. But I simply adore Michael Crawford.
I think they should have kept Gerard because he is hot but they should have put Michael's voice in the movie though. Emmy is overall the best Christine I have seen.

she is such a bambi eyed, here are my boobs kind of character.
it's annoying.
when someone is making big eyes at you while strategically choregraphing their cleavage it's kind of self-defeating.
