Israel has to make some plans to give the Palestinians hope for the future. On the other hand any country would retaliate to any rocket attack- and one can't expect the retaliation to be "even". There is no such thing. The other side must realize that it can't hope to beat Israel by force. The status quo can't go on. While Israel continues to grow, Palestinians continue to suffer because there are powerful segments still dreaming that they can win with force.

Israeli soldiers merely hurt themselves, and they retaliate with collective punishement to the people. Unbelievable, the palestinians under Israel have suffered more; assasinations, incursions, civilian deaths on an unprecedented scale, inprisionment of their cabinet and civilians. They (Israel) make is seem as though they are the only victims.

Well the same could be said about Palestinians firing rockets into Israel. Nevertheless, they both feel they must do something, as they cannot simply take the abuse, so the cycle continues.

The Israeli-Palestinian conflict is the epitome of what we call "cycle of violence." Not unless both sides sit down and meet halfway, the war would never end. It would go on and on until the "end of the world."

The US consistently uses it power to veto in the UN to make sure there is no solution to this problem and there wont be in the near future. Israel intends to violate UN resolutions until they have settled so much of Palestine that they will be able to argue that it is impossible to return to the land to Palestine.

Very true. There are ATROCITIES on both sides, but the biggest barriers to TALKS, to potential resolutions, are US and Israeli refusals to even discuss certain things or with certain people.

It's a known fact that the USA can't afford "not to spoil" ISRAEL since the Middle East is a very unstable region, the Americans need the Israelis whatever eventualities might come (wars, skirmishes, what have you). It's a Tactical Decision on the part of the US to support it's staunch ally in the ME Region.

Not until Israeli Politicians have this resolve to put forward CO-EXISTENCE among the Arabs rather than putting forward GREEDINESS then there won't be any "resolution." Come to think of it, the ISRAELI-PALESTINIAN ARABS conflict has been around since "time immemorial" (centruries and centuries before).

If theire motives are in that "line of thinking" then each Arab that dies would also be translated into Israeli deaths. It's a tit for tat situation. If there would be "Moderate Israeli Politicians" (not the present Rightist ones), that would push for co-existence, maybe only then the policy landscape would change.

Not completely true, there have been people in the white house before that tried to cut aide to Israel if it did not stop the settlements but that was meant with widespread opposition.
