I love Nightwish, and both of their singers are equally good. Anette is great, and so is Tarja. I personally like the music they made with Tarja better, like Over the Hills and Far Away (one of their best songs) but Amaranth and The Escapist are also great, and they were done with Anette. So both singers are great, and anyone who says differently is just plain mean.

I love Tarja era Nightwish. But life goes on and so has Nightwish. Anette is the singer today and yeah, many people abandoned Nightwish because the loss of Tarja was very big shock. It was to me too. But I gave Nightwish a chance and while the music is not as good as before, it still is pretty damn good symphonic metal! Just check out "The Poet And The Pendulum" or " The Escapist" two of the epic "new" Nightwish. We can enjoy the old times and also the new Nightwish albums. DPP and Imaginaerum!

The group was probably clever not to pick a new singer with a voice similar to Tarja's. Such a singer would always have been in Tarja's shadow without a chance to be accepted as an artist of her own. It's awesome to hear Nightwish in this classic lineup but, hey, live goes on. For a musician to stand still means to commit artistic suicide.

I really hate that for some reason Anette recieves so much abuse. She's not Tarja, I get that, but she is by no means an untalented singer. Maybe she isn't suited to perform some of Tarja's old songs, but many of the new songs aren't suited for Tarja. Why can't it be accepted that they're both good in their own respects? We should just be thankful Nightwish kept making amazing music after a seemingly crippling loss,and praise Tuomas' amazing songwriting talent.
