face change could be done without hormones, fat distribution in face and body can done better with a plastic surgeon, 3 years of hormone treatment can be done in one hour with a plastic surgeon , all shemales who took hormones end up in a hand of a plastic surgeon, they will do again cheeck bones , nose job, facial and body hair removal , lips filler, botox , hip shape with filler and most importan thing boobs,so what for hormones, i done all this without any pill of hormones,i love you all

going to my first counselor on tuesday and im really nervous. Have only told one friend about this and it is going to be hard to tell a stranger. Wish this was a more accepted thing, rather, the scores of people who look down on trans and gay individuals always seems to make much more of an impact. I suppose it's the diamond philosophy, no matter how great the majority of society might be, the flaws are the things you notice most. Thanks so much for the video, it really helped. p.s- im 19 now.

@architect333 I take it that you are unfamiliar with the term transgender. It basically means that you were born into the wrong sex, i.e., you were born a male, but you have have the mental thought process of a female (you think and feel female). This is NOT a mental disease, nor is it a dysfunction. The TG person is correcting the error of gender. A gay person is comfortable with their own gender and prefer the company of the same sex. A male to female TG does feel attracted to other males, ON

The larger cities have therapists that specialize in Gender issues. Pick one of those and then talk. Then decide if you really don't like what they are saying to you. If it doesn't fit you, then find another one! Always be honest. Also there are clinics that cater to Gay and Lesbian communities that often also include services for Trans-people. You may want to travel a little. BTW, I'm 50+ and doing well, so DON'T WAIT!!! Thanks, Jordan, for this primer!

how well does hormone replacement affect hair on you head? I was wondering if you are on finasteride or dutasteride? HRT has caused some hair loss on me. And yes This is like Christmas!!! Everyone Attention!! Make sure your counselor or therapist is not a private therapist/counselor!!! I wasted a whole year witha private therapist, and had to have another 8 months with my kaiser therapist to get the recommendation.
If I could have started when I was 25 instead of 50! I (too) am in awe! The rules are different in every place. The big cities have a lot of experienced counselors/therapists and MD's that specialize in TG. Probably ever Doc has different ideas on how to proceed with hormones. I know mine does! And it is different as you get older. Great video, good info. Absolutely, find a therapist, preferably specializing in gender issues. Like a gatekeeper. Fire a bad one. Love you!!

My therapist actually just told me that you DON'T need a letter for hormones!! There's like this other set of standards of care or something that doesn't require a therapist!! I didn't know that! haha but either way I'm close to getting my letter :P

I seen a Therapist that wrote my GID Diagnosis at the second Visit, went to the End with it and got my Hormones right away

Everyone Attention!! Make sure your counselor or therapist is not a private therapist/counselor!!! I wasted a whole year witha private therapist, and had to have another 8 months with my kaiser therapist to get the recommendation.

If I could have started when I was 25 instead of 50! I (too) am in awe! The rules are different in every place. The big cities have a lot of experienced counselors/therapists and MD's that specialize in TG. Probably ever Doc has different ideas on how to proceed with hormones. I know mine does! And it is different as you get older. Great video, good info. Absolutely, find a therapist, preferably specializing in gender issues. Like a gatekeeper. Fire a bad one. Love you!!

quick synopsis of great advice for HRT Counseling:
•Approach counselor with positive attitude that you are TG
•Tell counselor that you are there for HRT letter.
•Ask counselor if they have HRT expertise or ask for someone who does.
•HRT letter after 3 months of counseling.
•With letter you can go to a doc to get HRT prescription.
•Be sure to see doc regularly because of possible side effects.
•Hormones can be given orally or by injections given by the doc.

My therapist actually just told me that you DON'T need a letter for hormones!! There's like this other set of standards of care or something that doesn't require a therapist!! I didn't know that! haha but either way I'm close to getting my letter :P
