Technicality is important but this guy has music flowing out of him effortlessly. Everyone can relate to that and that why this tune has touched so many people. As soon as I saw his clip I knew he would win, I'd play the drums in his band for free and I'm expensive!
he deserved to win and thats why he one he puts alot of emotion in to his songs and you know that if you have checked his other vids out infact i hope you have before judging him as a guitarist of you guys alrady loved one perticular guitarist from last year so you proberly already had a biyest view on who should win but im just saying this is a msater piece its not all about fast playing

This is good, but Muris Varajic is way much better.
let's say that this is 'not surprising' song with good playing of relatively simple progression . Muris plays with more emotion and unusual feeling with unique sound and progression.

...iunno how he won personaly, he's great and all but if i had the tabs for this song i could learn it and i've only played guitar for a year and a half... thats just a comparison where skill wise gotty or hedras had the best two songs in my opinion hedras i loved the metal feel , but especialy gotty boy i couldn't rly even try to start learning cardioligy past the opening cords. I get how some poeple are probably gettin sick of tapping and speed played on guitar but gotty's tapping is like sex!
I agree with the tapping comment..all of it....Gottardo's tapping is unreal...so magical! he he.....lol. Like....I like this song...but yeah.....some of the other competitors I STILL listen to their entries...from like...a year ago....I'll probably only listen to this song the amount of times it takes to show anyone who asks about GI 2009
exactly, i just don't know how this song has any aww factor that makes people favorit and listen to it everyday like i know damn sure Cardiology does and Hedras, also gottyboys last year performance along with Miyata's were just masterpieces.
Hezus3Christo: I think you are missing the Guitar Idol competition point. If the point is to find the most technical, cool, fast, and/or fancy player, then I agree with you. Jack would not win. It could be Gotty, Hedras, Muris, and/or a boat load more that were not in top 12. If the point is to find a guitarist who is well rounded in skills, with a great composition, and great presentation (for the competition), then the judges and the public made the right choice. Response #2: Of course, you have the right to think that you can judge better. And, sure, you can learn and play Jacks song in a short time (now that it has been composed). But how many can create one as good as he did and perform as good as he did no matter how long one has been playing?
if your talking about it beeing judge purely on composition and presentation don't you think Jack's composition was a tad on the safe side ? thats all im sorry if im offending people but i personaly look for originality , tone, phrasing, all around composition and presentation. Original wise i find this is lacking if someone told me satch made this up for example i could believe him. Composition wise i find it falls back on the same stuff throughout the song and its a safe song with no risks
He's a great guitarist don't get me wrong just compared to the other contestents i felt his composition was safe , a tad easy and on the repetative side, his presentation was nothing more or less than any of the other contestants ... i just thought you know guitar idol maybe they'd look for someone with an original sound with some amazing composition and playing skills and someone who'd push the envelope of the guitar world. This is good, but Muris Varajic is way much better.

this was composed nicely in my opinion, albeit, repetitive and such, but I always liked the very Eric Johnson sound.

Vigier Excalibur and his phrasing both suggest he's quite a Lane fan.I also hear some Greg Howe sounding licks too, deserved winner imo
