Does anybody else think Ron Howard looks just like the crook in ROBOCOP that gets mashed into the vat of toxic waste at the end? I just spent the last month and a half watching this whole series all over again. I still love it even as I near 40 now, and I realize how much of my moral fiber is modeled after the FONZ! Very few shows had this much substance hidden in the fluff... What a great show this was! Too bad they have no plans for releasing the DVD's of the later seasons...
Loved this show growing up i met don most in michigan in 2005 and it was a huge honor!!!!!!! The cast was wonderful and well written brilliant tv sitcoms will never be the same love happy days
@TELEVISIONARCHIVES She accused everyone on the show on Howard Stern @'92, later admitted to lying about it and made up w/ the cast. At the time, her life and marriage were falling apart.,and supposedly her real family childhood was difficult. Henry Winkler is said to be one of the nicest folks you'd hope to meet, in or out of showbiz -no ego issues, regarded as a sweetheart in general by absolutely everyone so I think its true that she did it as a PR stunt and later regretted it.
@dingecibbs Yes, it's too bad that Jaonie loves Chachi bombed. It didn't need to since Joanie and Chachi were both great characters, but it seems the writers just didn't come up with very good plots. It might've been more successful if they's had Joanie and Chachi have children and raise them, then it could have been like the second generation of Happy Days.

this show wasnt really very good. Who would want there sons and daughters carousing around "necking" at every opportunity as this show constantly portrayed.
It was gross.
I make no apologies for what i said. Women are to be respected not fondled at every moment. Where is the lessons on Relationships? Why is it always about "sex education" and not Relationship Education? Doesnt that make sense? Keeping yourself pure till marriage, being really in Love means Self-Sacrifice.
@ighforever What?!? If you think Happy Days is bad, how in the world are you surviving in TV nowadays? It was a cute family show - so, so, so much better than any of the trash on TV now! Think of shows like Two and a Half Men, How I Met Your Mother, Etc. Now THOSE are some shows that you could chastise about morality.
@DorisDayFanatic two and a half men........ I have watched it a bit, I caught one scene where this girl reached the top cupboard and up went her T-shirt revealing her naked rear end to the little boy who plays on that show. Really disgusting. I wouldnt bet that boy is not a bit weird because of being on that show.
You have to understand doris, that happy days was just a prelude to this. They push the envelope every season, a bit more a bit more a bit more... till we are accepting anything.
@ighforever I have to disagree about Happy Days being the prelude to what has happened to television today. I think that it was really a great, wholesome show that was a breath of fresh air compared to other shows and movies of that time. That is my opinion, and I see that you have your opinion, and neither one of us is going to change our opinions, so I'm just going to stop discussing this and say that we agree to disagree on this subject.
@DorisDayFanatic I agree with you, I think Happy Days was very wholesome compared to many of the popular sit-coms today. The only thing is I think the way the men treated women was rather sexist, but that's the way things were back in the 50's.
I saw a few episodes being filmed. I was in the audience when the show had Danny Thomas as Howards father. I will never forget this show, it was a part of my youth, of which I will forever be grateful. I remember Jerry Paris throwing candy bars out to us in the audience too...we had a great time, it was nice to see these folks in person.
I totally agree with you. Those first two seasons are what really hold up today. There was so much warmth and truth, true to the era they were depicting. The scripts and character portrayals had a genuine feel to them. But everything changed when they brought in the over-enthusiastic studio audience and made the show revolve around Fonzie, who was turned into a cartoon. It worked for the time I guess because it was simple escapism. But in the end, it was just kitsch, silly and dated.
Here's a bit of trivia: When Scott Baio's ego became big on the show, producers wanted to shorten his lines a bit for sometime and give him less screentime.
Oddly I didnt see Scott Baio as a big teen throb for this show. Wasn't till he did his movie 'Zapped' and his next TV show with Ames where I saw his star appeal. So shocked he let his ego show up. Would have expected it from Henry Winkler (playing the bad boy) but not that of Scott.
i love that idea of middle class amercia family and milk shake time oh jeez i love happy days what a great show lifes a lot different now i wish we could get back to that meaning
He thinks fans that call on him as Chachi is like an embarrassment. He thinks when the fans say his name "Chachi", it's like they are trying to get a rise out of him. That's how he thinks about it.
Funny you should mention about Scott Baio. Not too long ago, his wife Renee decided to throw Bailey a 50s birthday on her 1st birthday. Scott was against the idea, but Renee said that the arrangements were already made. Scott doesn't want to be remembered as Chachi on Happy Days, according to sources. But, Scott, once you baby Bailey is all grown up and curious about what you did back then, you better speak about it. She'll remember you for the role of Chachi. She'll take on acting. You'll see.
This is my Favorite show :)

Ron is absolutely right. the reason why this show is still popular, is because it stays in the 1950s and never moves on to the 1960s

It was a bad series during a bad time in US history, that idealized another bad time in US history.
When I asked my father if the '50's were really like that, he said flatly, "No."
That was the end of it. Too bad "Happy Days" droned on for 12 years.
