  • Hey, sounds really nice, like it alot! Thanks very much for sharing :)

  • กูยอม กูก็เป็นแต่ไม่เก่งเท่ามึง

  • เก่งคั๊กเน๊อะ พ่อไำหย่ ^^

  • เก่ง มาไทยแลนด์นะ

  • @0821138400 -- I wish I knew what you are saying. :) Hal

  • @banakula he said I came here in Thailand and that was an amazing thing you did here

  • This is awesome. Otherworldly sound.

  • Epic! I Play this when I run up many stairs.

  • @fuckhalwalker clearly a jealous troll who can't play any instrument. Does it somehow bring you happiness to write such trash on someone else's videos? His musical talent is astonishing. His music makes people happy. What have YOU done for the world lately? It might help if you could spell or write....perhaps some remedial English courses? As for the 'hand motions'..there are holes on the side of the instrument which one covers and uncovers in order to get the different notes. Duh.

  • @ElizabethGS - thanks for your support-- every once in a while one of these strange comments comes along, but this guy who actually created a username about me takes the cake. Fortunately, I don't take it personally. :) H

  • @banakula just saw your response today. sorry for the delay ;) I'm quite looking forward to getting to hear you in person at the GSHC, and hope you intend to bring along the Khaen? While the harmonica Conventions are mostly 'all harmonica, all of the time', the GSH Festival in particular brings so many more instruments into the mix, including guitars, keyboards, etc. Just got a new Suzuki Melodion and want to try that out as well, never having played one before. I think the Khaen will open ears.

  • Para ser una improvisación es muy buena.

  • Hello banakula you are very talented..and similar to me. I also try playing many instruments...Indian flute from new mexico, the penny flute and diatonic harmonia...and some guitar...firt time for me on this instrumet...is it difficult to play?

  • its almost like the khaen was made for just you the way you play it like no others do

  • YOU ARE SO AMAZING

  • WOW HAL YOU TAKE MY BREATH AWAY.X

  • banacula thanks for the reply. I found on ebay a khaen seller . in your opinion do you think is a good musical instrument? the link is :

//cgi.ebay.com/1-Khaen-Flute-Harmonica-Thai-Isan-Musical-Instrument-/320573692452?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0 i think temperament is more important that the quality of workmanship

  • luciop1987.... thanks for your comment. Unfortunately, It is very difficult to purchase a good quality khaen. I travelled to a remote village in NE Thailand to buy mine. The Ohio winter is tough on the instruments, so I will have to return to Thailand someday. However, you can buy one online and, at least, get to play one. Maybe you'll get lucky and get a good one in the mail. good luck. Hal

  • can i have an information?where i can buy this instrument?

  • Great sutff, Hal. What's your advice for learning many instruments?

  • @superagnitio... thanks. I would suggest learning one at a time. Right now, I am learning the chromatic harmonica.... I play it constantly. I go through phases like this and, over time, have gotten good at many instruments. Also, keep it simple. learn to make a beautiful tone before trying to play lots of notes. have fun. hal

  • so kool listeniong to again

    cant wait to jamm

you on one side and me on the other

    left and right channels

    gonna be fun

  • yes... I will take you up on that coffee... I look forward to returning to Thailand. Ohio winters are tough on my khaens. nice to meet you. Hal

  • well im from ann arbor area michigan, i know well those winters....and how the cold is badd for the khaen. the reeds are ok mostly ,its the black stuff (keesoot ) which gets brittle and cracks sometimes.dont blow warm air breath into a cold khaen after transporting from your car...let the khaen adjust to the warmth inside the room first. best wishes hal.......coffee is always hot here...

  • Hey, you came to my school today Mohawk High School and I want you to know I have been working on the ancient echo clap and the whistle. I am improving. This and the Jew's Harp were my favorite.

    keep up the good work!

  • what's the name of the song? I'm used to hearing this instrument playing Lao songs, haha.

  • ..too damn cool, never heard this instrument played like that before..very original!

  • How does it work ??

I like this shape and looking and this synth-sound. It is self-build ? Where can I by this sheng ?

Please: can you make a close-up video where I can see all the holes or the mouthpiece?
