I refuse to believe that they actually accepted the theory of dark matter based on the fact that there isn't enough mass in a galaxy to hold it together.
What if the gravity has a cumulative effect that increases exponentially as the mass of the universe as a whole increases?
Question popping into my head: If our solar system adheres to the rules of gravitation --> rotation curve - well, there does not seem to be any dark matter around the sun??? Or relative amounts of? Maybe it's just a mathematical conundrum? Sounds a bit like adapting reality to theory...but I'm still learning, a beginner really...
@HermioneNo1 It's matter of scale. The weird rotation curves obviously don't happen in our solar system. They only show up on a much larger scale.
Scale makes a difference. On the large scale, the universe is expanding, but that doesn't stop galaxies from colliding. Another example is the Coriolis effect. It has no effect on which way water whirls down your sink, but it has a profound effect on something as large as a tropical storm.
Its based on the unexplained matter.
Why not call God dark matter...
