Games do help with decision-making skills. The weakness is that reality must be highly modified to fit the game. Game theory isn't flexible enough for the real world.

Yea I mean it can depend my friend you have to remember not only is it just a game but its also a Hobby in which you can pose and design models in the way you see fit pick and paint your color scheme and play how you wish. Another is its not like a one night stand that you buy all of it but usually of years of collecting. Not really different than the couple video games people buy a year brand new at 65 dollars each :)

i want to start playing but i have a few questions: is the game expensive? do they have to be painted? and if so do they have to be painted a certain way? like do the space marines all have to be painted the same as the books have them
its great that your gonna start playing, the game is kind of expensive because you need to buy paints and brushes when uyou first start out, no they dont have to be painted to play but it makes your army look so much better, and no you can paint them any color you want

first you should pick out what ype of space marines you want to do(blood angels, regular space marines, space wolves etc.) then once you have that done you should buy the army book to see what sort of special rules each unit has. oh and definetly buy a copy of the rulebook if you want to start playing. if you want to get really good painting techniques you should buy how to paint citidel miniatures but you dont have to but u should go to a games workshop store and talk 2 the people there.

No no no. You got it all wrong. You have to immobilize it, destroy all the weapons, then immobilize it again. Destroying all the weapons then destroying a weapon again will go down to immobilizing it, while immobilizing an already immobilized vehicle will go up to a weapon destroyed. The vehicle has to have all weapons destroyed and already be immobilized before it can be destroyed by a 'weapon destroyed' result(Which would effectively go down to an immobilized result, thus destroying it)

Warhammer 40k is easier to learn than I thought it would be. I really picked up on the rules after the first few games I played. Then all you need is the Codex for all the special rules and the more complex stuff.
Is there also a vid about a battle with 'normal' warhammer? I'm more into the fantasy stuff and not so much in sci-fi, but I couldn't find a good vid... and I'd like to inform myself before I buy figures, paint and books for much money ;)
how do they play this game anyway? i mean i've been looking at warhamemr tournaments like these but how do they play these games? and whats the green thigns for?
if a warrior has 4 strength and the other warrior has 4 toughness that means you have to roll 1 6 sided dice and get a 4 for your bullet to hit them and then after hat you have to figure out if it just hit them or kiled them cause some do have armor so you roll agina (by stats) and then ifu pass that that model is dead based on how many wounds you did (damage) and hw many wounds that they have (HP)
green things are newer counters for objectives and marking things destroyed and such. 40k is played with each unit having a profile and weapons. each has its own stats and abilities and special rules. You move using inches as each unit can move so far and such. Each person has a move, shoot and assault phase in which they move and shoot thier armies to go after objectives and such over a set ammount of turns with a universal rule book. mad fun stradegy game and hobby.
they are whats called objectives which 2/3 of all games are based off of becuase of a die roll. and its not that hard when you learn everything like strength (s) verse Toughness. a strength 5 weapon against a toughness 4 guy wounds on 3 up.
dont get all excited baneblades suck they are aweful i had my 360 point nightbringer walk up and blew up the damn thing in one turn the guy i played with was like i have structur points haha u cant blow it up and i was like ya ok next thing ya know end of assualt phase things gone

@Hellscope1 not all little kids are bad some of them actually have the patience to play without being annoying and they are good fresh faces to help keep the game going but i do see your point, i play against or along side little kids at least once and if i see they don't have the patience to play and they just get silly with everything i never play them again unless it is a tourney which i have yet to get into

Yea I mean it can depend my friend you have to remember not only is it just a game but its also a Hobby in which you can pose and design models in the way you see fit pick and paint your color scheme and play how you wish. Another is its not like a one night stand that you buy all of it but usually of years of collecting. Not really different than the couple video games people buy a year brand new at 65 dollars each :)

that's fair enough, its not everyone's game, i will admit, it is fucking hard to learn. it takes some time, but i think it is a rewarding hobby. according to study, humans enjoy 3 things.
challenging tasks
the ability to make their own decision
and the ability to admire their own work
and this has all three, but whatever, i think its fun

i want to start playing but i have a few questions: is the game expensive? do they have to be painted? and if so do they have to be painted a certain way? like do the space marines all have to be painted the same as the books have them

its great that your gonna start playing, the game is kind of expensive because you need to buy paints and brushes when uyou first start out, no they dont have to be painted to play but it makes your army look so much better, and no you can paint them any color you want

first you should pick out what ype of space marines you want to do(blood angels, regular space marines, space wolves etc.) then once you have that done you should buy the army book to see what sort of special rules each unit has. oh and definetly buy a copy of the rulebook if you want to start playing. if you want to get really good painting techniques you should buy how to paint citidel miniatures but you dont have to but u should go to a games workshop store and talk 2 the people there.

they have to be painted.. it is expensive, and they don't have to be painted in a certain way as long as you don't want 13 year olds with huge armys painted by there dad and they mock your painting skills lol

No no no. You got it all wrong. You have to immobilize it, destroy all the weapons, then immobilize it again. Destroying all the weapons then destroying a weapon again will go down to immobilizing it, while immobilizing an already immobilized vehicle will go up to a weapon destroyed. The vehicle has to have all weapons destroyed and already be immobilized before it can be destroyed by a 'weapon destroyed' result(Which would effectively go down to an immobilized result, thus destroying it)

Warhammer 40k is easier to learn than I thought it would be. I really picked up on the rules after the first few games I played. Then all you need is the Codex for all the special rules and the more complex stuff.

if a warrior has 4 strength and the other warrior has 4 toughness that means you have to roll 1 6 sided dice and get a 4 for your bullet to hit them and then after hat you have to figure out if it just hit them or kiled them cause some do have armor so you roll agina (by stats) and then ifu pass that that model is dead based on how many wounds you did (damage) and hw many wounds that they have (HP)

green things are newer counters for objectives and marking things destroyed and such. 40k is played with each unit having a profile and weapons. each has its own stats and abilities and special rules. You move using inches as each unit can move so far and such. Each person has a move, shoot and assault phase in which they move and shoot thier armies to go after objectives and such over a set ammount of turns with a universal rule book. mad fun stradegy game and hobby.

they are whats called objectives which 2/3 of all games are based off of becuase of a die roll. and its not that hard when you learn everything like strength (s) verse Toughness. a strength 5 weapon against a toughness 4 guy wounds on 3 up.
