@RuskiHomie Performance was a problem with Vista, and the UAC Dialogs were excessive.
Windows has been made to support old systems and when Vista came out they dropped a lot of the compatibility support which didn't make the community very happy and mean't a lot of old computers couldn't actually run Vista.
It looked nice, but was very clunky and was originally mean't to be an addon to XP, Which mean't it was developed to be an Operating System rather an addon to one.

And Macs arn't designed for the power user. Windows was designed from the ground up for business. Mac was designed from the ground up to go for a niche market (Easy to use computers) and also joined fads along the way.
Apples product get their drive from their wow/hip factor. An iPhone is SUPER noticeable as long as you can discern its a phone. You rarely see Apple Laptops floating around so when people seem them there is also an interest factor.
@MrHourlyCookie You can get a Mac Pro up to +$20,000 with all the upgrades... kinda doubt you spent that much on your computer (which likely doesn't have eight cores either).

@Jpsweeney94 Apple has around 8 percent market share and half of it is its mobile devices (ipad, iphone, ipod etc) so its 4 percent on the client platform market whilst linux distros are around 5 percent (and 60 % on server market, which is quite impressive if you ask me).

As an IT guy, I use both PCs and Macs every day, and they each have their pros and cons. Each one is suited for different purposes, and as such you can't expect one to be better than the other in every single respect.
My principle is this: Windows 7 and OS X are both amazing operating systems, and they each can perform their tasks well, albeit in different ways. The better system is determined purely by opinion.

The reason they rarely crash is because the OS is designed to run smoothly rather than well. @Jpsweeney94 Apple has around 8 percent market share and half of it is its mobile devices (ipad, iphone, ipod etc) so its 4 percent on the client platform market whilst linux distros are around 5 percent (and 60 % on server market, which is quite impressive if you ask me).

@mozdonny What? i think your mislead or confused on something.... your mixing different markets..... On the COMPUTER SIDE, apple has about 10% market share, as in with their mac computers.....ipods own more then 75% in music players.....and ipad owns about 90% or more in the tablet market share.....not sure about iphone, but its also high
and ok on the server side of things linux dominates pretty much all, but why would apple need to compete with that? apple is more a consumer electronics comp.

In the USA, Mac has 12% market share, but on the planet, its around 4%.
Also, with the tablets, phones and mp4's its higher in the USA (not eve near 75% or 90% for gods sake!),
and is descanding due to andriod and windows phone 7 plus google OS.

@mozdonny ah, i thought we were talking about US for some reason.... ill give you some of your points, like the 4%ish for mac worldwide, but they still dominate in tablets and mp3 players, especially the ipad which is still probably around 70-85% if not more
and no single phone sells even close to as much as the iphone..... sure all 100 droid phones together outsell the iphone (duh), but the phone vs phone, iphone crushes...
i dont see there stranglehold loosening anytime soon in their markets

@Jpsweeney94 Android has more marketshare than the iPhone. But you are saying that because the iPhone outsells every SINGLE android device Apple controls the market, that doesn't make sense. Maybe you didn't get the memo iOS only runs on 1 phone, the iPhone. Android runs on thousands (increasing daily) phones. And by the way dumbass, Windows Phone has the freedom and choice and is not fragmented (and don't counter my argument with saying that windows phone sucks, i never said it was good)

I said the only reason android has more market share is BECAUSE they have "thousands" of phones vs ONE phone, which I KNOW. so to say that that is an advantage as to why android is better, is foolish.

First of all apple is a rip off its almost coast 2,000 dollars to get a laptop and almost 3,000 to get a desktop, I rather buy 3 PC or PC laptops or "alienware" rather then buy that rip off company's products. It amazes me how fanboys of both PC and Mac bicker constantly.
As an IT guy, I use both PCs and Macs every day, and they each have their pros and cons. Each one is suited for different purposes, and as such you can't expect one to be better than the other in every single respect.
My principle is this: Windows 7 and OS X are both amazing operating systems, and they each can perform their tasks well, albeit in different ways. The better system is determined purely by opinion.

@clancedrumscovers But what can a Mac do? Barely anything. It has to have programs specially designed to work with its shit-tiered OS. The reason they rarely crash is because the OS is designed to run smoothly rather than well. They gave up performance for stability and wave it around saying "We're better because we don't crash!" and hide the face that that only counts if you're browsing the internet or listening to DRM music on iTunes.

I'm American and even I agree that commercials like this are just annoying. It's actually childish! Mac ads just poke at the problems with Windows (Macs are PCs too!) and say next to nothing about their own stuff!

Those commercials must be a lot cheaper than the mac one's. They pay half the people to talk and there are no professional actors that have been in movies that require more pay.
