So is it possible to edit the songs/patterns in the M3 without having to play all things or using midi files? Can you do kinda piano roll editing or stuff like that? Unfortunately you can't do that kind of stuff in the Yamaha Motif XS.. I'm possibly thinking of selling my Motif XS and getting M3 instead.

It's funny watching this video and hearing some of these extremely cheesy songs and stuff made by this keyboard, then realizing that somehow Panda Bear uses the same keyboard making music that is very original and not cheesy.
The Fantom G8 is not as good as people think. I had a go of one not long back, and most of the sounds in it are taken from the Fantom X. I would go for the M3 88.
I play an Oasys, and while the M3 really is light years from the flagship, the karma capabilities alone make this worthwhile and causes the competition to pale. Add to it the drum trak and kaoss pad, and this is nearly an unbeatable combination.

Yamaha is the best! The sample idea of the M3 sucks! You only have 64mb of with the expantion 256mb extra. every time you turn on the machine, you have to load your data. And shit is SLOW!! My 40 mb of smples take about 2 minutes to load... Who want my M3 for a Yamaha?
You have to do that with a Yamaha also. I have the ES6 and samples are stored in RAM which means that everytime you turn it off, you have to reload samples. The only synth i've seen with an HDD built is is the Alesis Fusion.
I tried this recently, after trying a fantom, and this sounded great, but I don't know if that was just because the majority of the sounds in the fantom were unusable.

No probé el Kurzweil PC3, pero te puedo decir que el M3 es una buena opcion si quieres hacer música popular, depende de lo que busques, a mi me parecio suficiente todo lo que tiene para hacer música bailable... y algo que me gusto mucho fue ver un modelo que creo que es el M50 que tenía tamaño de piano, y teclas con peso ^^ muy buena opcion si te gusta explayarte a lo largo de las teclas y usar la fuerza que usas con un piano ^^

wow thats so harsh. I agree that this is a lame demo, but I own both a Motif and an M3, I have to tell you they both are great for certain things. The pianos and acoustic instruments are far better on the motif, but the Synths, strings and pads are better on the M3 (IMHO) and programming is So much easier with the M3s triton like interface, Every instrument in this range will have people that like or dislike cetain things but it is certainly not a "piece of junk" .
People ALWAYS preach about about the "quality" of the sounds on the Motif and M3.. I've played both for hours on end and own the M3. The M3 sounds just as good as the Motif in my opinion on EVERY aspect...
nah, the m3 has a lot of depth to synth sounds. but in terms of sheer rawness and warmth for acoustic sounds, the motif xs eats the m3 alive. both have their pluses.
People ALWAYS say that... have you heard Korg's new patch for the M3 for the stereo grand piano? Sounds just as good... if not better than the Motif. The Korg eats the XS alive with strings, guitar, synth, and brass.... Piano and wood winds are the only two things Yamaha has over the Korg.. and with the new stereo grand piano patch for the M3 that you get with the M3 XPANDED completely PWNS lol. I own it, and have played both "professionally" for hours. Can't beat the price difference either lol
yep it is.. I do also.. and a motif xs.. the looks and most of the new age sounds like tecno rap hiphop on the korg are awesome.. but classic stuff yamaha sounds better.. but don't the m3 looks just simply great.. and the xy screen is awesome.
why are these stupid videos so naff???? the music, that guy's way of speaking, the music after the intro music, that guy's face, the sound effects when the screen rotates..and i am SOOOO sick of towards the sun every time I turn on my M3!! I would have thought with something so new they'd at least make modern videos, it's just cheesey in every painful way possible... that's why I'm not always keen on korg but the M3 does some amazing stuff once you get past these sorts of sounds and drum tracks

No, but you can get the RTT installed on it. It is 24 vocoder sound in it from the radius engine. Or you can just get the korg r-3. It has a radius engine on it. The r-3 is a vocoder synth that comes with the mic. You should try it.

Well in my opinion the korg m3 is a better sythn then the yamaha motif xs but the xs sounds have a better quality then the the m3 and plus real amazing piano sounds.

I had the 61 key Triton (silver one) around 2002 and again I yearn for this M3. Trouble is the piano's always sound pretty bad, you'd have to spend £6,000 on a synth piano to get anywhere near a real piano and even those are not good enough, they only have one instrument and are £6,000 hehe.
That's not true about the OASYS piano being "Garbage", rather naive statement. I have an OASYS 88, and my piano tuner always loves to go on it before he leaves, and thinks its wonderful, and I have a Kawai RX-2 Grand at that.
Not sure about the m3 piano, but as a Triton studio owner too, it seems an improvement. All this said, sound is subjective, and who's going to play Rachmaninovs 3rd concerto on a Synth anyway?, Piano's on Synths aren't made to be Acoustic piano replacements
At the beginning I was disappointed with the 384 preset combis (loads of programs though) that were not that useful for me. IMHO It's a great synth when you invest the time to learn it, doing your own combis and tweaks. For the "pure preset power" I still do rely on my TritonExtreme.
Yes, lots of programs, thanks Korg !Unfortunately no single Combi added. Seems like more weeks of programming and tweaking ;-) But thats how to learn it anyway and get used to EDS ...
I think that it is a Synth WorkStation with more characteristics that accommodate me.
Though still I have several products KORG like: ER-1, ES-1, MS2000 Always the synthe "bases" or prop that I have occupied been Roland, simply for her "more "sweet" sounds.

i dont really care about what they come out new with the korg. i jus cant wait till they make a new yamaha motif. the motif xs right now beats any and all keyboards in all category for professional studio recording.

Also, it has the same Karma v2 as Oasys, and after testing it [i mean M3 as a whole], posibilities were awesome. I was able to create JR lead in a couple minutes and even Presets sounded great.
I don't mean to say the Oasys is bad [Best Workstation Synth out there, etc... i know!], but this is just a beast, waiting to be exploited.

People ALWAYS say that... have you heard Korg's new patch for the M3 for the stereo grand piano? Sounds just as good... if not better than the Motif. The Korg eats the XS alive with strings, guitar, synth, and brass.... Piano and wood winds are the only two things Yamaha has over the Korg.. and with the new stereo grand piano patch for the M3 that you get with the M3 XPANDED completely PWNS lol. I own it, and have played both "professionally" for hours. Can't beat the price difference either lol

yep it is.. I do also.. and a motif xs.. the looks and most of the new age sounds like tecno rap hiphop on the korg are awesome.. but classic stuff yamaha sounds better.. but don't the m3 looks just simply great.. and the xy screen is awesome.

why are these stupid videos so naff???? the music, that guy's way of speaking, the music after the intro music, that guy's face, the sound effects when the screen rotates..and i am SOOOO sick of towards the sun every time I turn on my M3!! I would have thought with something so new they'd at least make modern videos, it's just cheesey in every painful way possible... that's why I'm not always keen on korg but the M3 does some amazing stuff once you get past these sorts of sounds and drum tracks

No, but you can get the RTT installed on it. It is 24 vocoder sound in it from the radius engine. Or you can just get the korg r-3. It has a radius engine on it. The r-3 is a vocoder synth that comes with the mic. You should try it.

Well in my opinion the korg m3 is a better sythn then the yamaha motif xs but the xs sounds have a better quality then the the m3 and plus real amazing piano sounds.
If your looking for the best sythn combies and programs get the M3
If you want the best for piano with sythn get the xs,
I don't know about roland fantom G, I only use korg and yamaha sorry for not having a answer

I had the 61 key Triton (silver one) around 2002 and again I yearn for this M3. Trouble is the piano's always sound pretty bad, you'd have to spend £6,000 on a synth piano to get anywhere near a real piano and even those are not good enough, they only have one instrument and are £6,000 hehe.

That's not true about the OASYS piano being "Garbage", rather naive statement. I have an OASYS 88, and my piano tuner always loves to go on it before he leaves, and thinks its wonderful, and I have a Kawai RX-2 Grand at that.
Not sure about the m3 piano, but as a Triton studio owner too, it seems an improvement. All this said, sound is subjective, and who's going to play Rachmaninovs 3rd concerto on a Synth anyway?, Piano's on Synths aren't made to be Acoustic piano replacements

I have an M3-73 which replaced my Karma.
At the beginning I was disappointed with the 384 preset combis (loads of programs though) that were not that useful for me. IMHO It's a great synth when you invest the time to learn it, doing your own combis and tweaks. For the "pure preset power" I still do rely on my TritonExtreme.

I think that it is a Synth WorkStation with more characteristics that accommodate me.
Though still I have several products KORG like: ER-1, ES-1, MS2000 Always the synthe "bases" or prop that I have occupied been Roland, simply for her "more "sweet" sounds.

I guess there will never be peace in this world.These sites should be places where you can find info and demos about keyboards etc. but some people get so uptight about them. I'd imagine the makers put some effort into their products but one machine can't make everyone happy.If you don't like it,ok, but calling it a 'piece of crap' is a bit much and serves no useful purpose.Let's have genuine advice for those who are considering investing in one of these.Thank's.

Well, basically... because I'm getting one and I'm really excited xD
Also, it has the same Karma v2 as Oasys, and after testing it [i mean M3 as a whole], posibilities were awesome. I was able to create JR lead in a couple minutes and even Presets sounded great.
I don't mean to say the Oasys is bad [Best Workstation Synth out there, etc... i know!], but this is just a beast, waiting to be exploited.
