The first time I heard the Bechi's voice was when I was 7 years old and, obviously I did not care about lyric and classic music, but I liked so much hearing the voice of this man,on a record given to my family by my uncle who stidied as tenor at that time.I was so impressed hearing this piece as I was fightened hearing him singing the "Credo" of Othello.Good remembrance hearing Bechi, thanks to primobaritono.
Since this is a sing-off - and by the way, I love these sing-offs - I must vote. I vote for Bechi. That is one awesome version. But Tagliabue is also superb. No sense hosting a sing-off if it is a one-sided crush, but on points I vote for Bechi.
Thanks! I guessed right, then. The film on DVD Mad about Opera on the BCS label has him singing the Largo, too, but a studio version. Love this live one.
Never cared much for Tagliabue. After Ruffo, Bechi was IL RE dei baritoni italiani! Che leone tremendo!!!!!!

Tagliabue was a lot better than Gino Bechi. Bechi's voice lost too soon its softness, due to wrong selections in his repertory.

Listen to Gino bechi singing "La Strada nel
Bosco" it will just blow you away from the
first note he sings. What a voice and sexy
with charmisa. I would have loved to have been
serenaded by him.

Can anyone tell me when Gino Bechi sang this clip? Early, middle or late in his career? Obviously, this is a live performance. Thanks for posting it!

around 1950 I believe so early/middle part of his career.
