  • Time for some get sleepy music, after all of the years since this cmae out my hair still stands up when I hear this. Bands today wish they could be this!!!

  • this is ktulu not cthulhu

  • In my opinion, this is Metallica's "Stairway to Heaven"

  • West Memphis Three

  • Cliff still took part in Master Of Puppets, so this wasn't his last recording. Damage Inc. was.

  • Cthulhu

  • If they make a movie about Cthulhu, they need this song and The Thing That Should Not Be in it.

  • @BlackL1ster1 They have one.

  • how to make eating look epic: this song

  • Nothing better than coming back from a bar and this song still isn't finished when I get home.

  • Is that Cliff on the wah pedal?

  • @TanukiGrana Yes,

  • @TanukiGrana Yes sir. Cliff was the best.

  • @AtomicPunk150 I knew that had to be him Cliff fucking rules. Do you think Cliff would have participated in change of their sound on Black and post black?

  • Comment removed

  • @TanukiGrana I'm pretty sure if Cliff were still alive Metallica would still be focused on the instrumental parts of songs and not so much the vocals (meaning James wouldnt be singing like he does today) Bands do change though, and i'm sure that even if Cliff hadnt died they sitll would've changed, just not in a bad way. To pu it simply, we wouldnt have Load, Reload, or St. Anger if Cliff were still here

  • @AtomicPunk150 Ride the Lightning is my fav.To me this album is such a power metal album. Not in the sense of the Manowar genre, in the sense it has these enormous mighty riffs like for whom the bells tolls, the breakdown on ride the lighting, the harmonies on escape, and the melody in kirks solo in fade. Its all over the top larger than life. Master and Justice are much more stripped down.

  • @TanukiGrana Totally agree dude, although i do like Master of Puppets for Battery, Master, and if nothing else to hear Cliff rape on Orion. This CD is definetly their prime though.

  • written by dave mustaine

  • @gorthoth Written by H.P. Lovecraft.

  • Dave kicks ass on this song he wrote by himself all those long years ago.

  • dont like this comment

  • Good times

  • This should have been the theme to Batman: Arkham City

  • wats the monster sounding thing you can hear at 2:56 ?

  • @MrMegadeth131da

That, my friend, is omega fast distorted bass played by the God of Bass Himself, Mr. Clifford Lee Burton.

  • @ma369rtin

I love you for posting that comment.

  • @ma369rtin Hate to break it to you but the God of Bass is none other then Steve Harris, Cliff is the Prince.

  • @daydayakasmokey It's a close one, but think, Cliff was nearly as good as Steve at his best, and Cliff didn't have much experience, the guy was 24 when he died. He had the potential to put even Steve Harris to shame.

  • @ma369rtin Yes I do agree with that, with about five maybe ten years more of experience Cliff would have certainly surpassed Harris.

  • @daydayakasmokey Amen brothah

  • "Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn"

  • whats a ktulu

  • @olkrfallenmeep96 It's actually spelled Cthulhu, but they spelled it Ktulu so people would pronounce it correctly. and one tip.

    GOOGLE.

  • @Machiniman20 Lovecraft said that spelling it in English was futile since the sounds needed to pronounce the name are impossible for the human mouth the create. Spelling is irrelevant.

  • @olkrfallenmeep96 Ktulu is a fictional monster from some book, I can't remember the title though. The hard thing to believe is that some people actually worship that thing.

  • @Killer27586 holy shit

  • @Killer27586 *cough* Necroconomicon *cough*

  • @Killer27586 and its not ktulu its Cthulhu

  • @xXxXWafflezXxXx kkaayyy

  • The call of your mom =P

  • This reminds my of Diablo... like the intro sounds like Tristram.

  • @DarkDarius1994

or does tristram sound like this?

  • @xomanowar42 Hmm... yeah!

  • lyrics.........................

  • Mustaine played with them on this one!

  • @MuchosMetallicaz If you're talking about on the album, no he didn't.

  • The call of sulu

  • Cthulhu Fthagn! Ph'nglui mglw'nfah Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn!

  • the finnish metal band sux, if u want a good one, look up nightwish, master passion greed, and click on the first one, nightwish isanother finnish metal band, but unlike the other band, this on actually does sound good

  • Heed the call, the call of Ktulu.

  • Comment removed

  • fukin love the ending

  • i love all of metallica's work but this is easily my favorite song by them

  • I liked the riff starting at 3:25

  • yeah, dave mustaine wrote it

did he perform it? no....metallica did

  • everytime i hear the begining of this song, i always picture a necromancer standing at the edge of a rocky cliff with waves crashing against the walls of the cliff, then the necromancer starts a summoning ritual that calls forth the mighty cthulhu. Then through the rest of the song, i can imagine cthulhu rising from the sea and perches himself on a rock, and while the necro is trying to control him, he slays the sorcerer, spreads his wings, jumps up, and sets out to destroy the world.

  • @80srockrpwnsall Damn, when I read that, it made complete sense. That's awesome

  • @Ibawesome54345 thank you. =)

  • @80srockrpwnsall that is so true...

  • @80srockrpwnsall While you paint a beautiful image here, let us not forget that dread Cthulhu lies dreaming, not dead.

  • @80srockrpwnsall I always picture a crazy storm when I listen to this one, one of my fav's from this album.

  • Comment removed

  • @80srockrpwnsall i think of southpark

  • @80srockrpwnsall Strangely enough, I don't know who Ktulu is, and I imagined the part with the necromancer on the cliff with the waves crashing just the same. I think that shows how well the song fits with its title.

  • @80srockrpwnsall Well duh! We all think that when we hear this song.

  • @80srockrpwnsall pass me some of whatever your on

  • @1765557 he smells his mother's underwear for 10 minutes, a guy like that you need to get in custody as soon as possible

  • @80srockrpwnsall fk never thought about sounds completely badass

  • @80srockrpwnsall You sir have quite an imagination.

  • @80srockrpwnsall and then the believers are still there

  • @80srockrpwnsall you should eat a bunch of acid

  • @80srockrpwnsall then the ending of the song is ktulu falling back down into the ocean because someone slayed his ass XD

I picture the beginning similar except Ktulu just kinda slowly emerges from the water with storm and waves about him :D

  • @80srockrpwnsall That's awesome.

Except the ending isn't very character-accurate; Cthulhu wouldn't even notice the Necromancer.

  • @80srockrpwnsall I imagined a very young Metallica perched at the edge of a cliff, performing this ritual in the form of this song, the music itself summoning Cthulhu.

Basically Dethklok and the Mustakrakish, only Metallica and The Great Old One Himself.

  • @80srockrpwnsall Go outside.

  • i'm so glad dave wrote this song, it's awesome

  • Cthulhu (Ktulu) is the ancient squid god of the sea in old Samarian religion, and was one of the three gods of the Most High Triumverate. He was a squid monster and was the only sea being feared more than the legendary Leviathan.

  • @hrussell0901

Wha...you mean Cthulhu was a real god, not just H.P. Lovecraft's big imaginary doomsday friend. People are awesome!

  • this song is so badass... i was thinking... like in a movie and everybody thought i died and they where cornered and about to be gonners.... this song hits and i come to the rescue - guns in the air like the terminator :D

  • Ktulu is about to kill 97 youtubers.

  • God bless metallicas genius

  • @legionnare12 lol

  • I know all the words to this song.

  • @dooksucks4ever

Yes, but can you hum the entire thing!

  • @WarLordM1 Yes :D

  • @dooksucks4ever Must've taken forever to memorize.

  • some of this sounds like it came from Final fantasy or Diablo lol

  • the dark eldars are head banging to this warhammer 40 k

  • i wish my speakers went louder

  • Remix:

    Mettallica: The Call Of Satin

  • best of Metallica songs

  • I hear this is chuck Norris's favorite sing along.

  • So we meet again, 240p...

  • alright call me a stoner but this is what I imagined while hearing this: there is a dark old stone castle in the high mountains in which a mad scientist lives, a camera takes us down the winding stairway into the dungeon layer, past viles, tubes, tools on the wall. then into a dark doorway. there is a lone electric chair.now, outside rages on one of the fiercest most dark and thunderous storms. the lightning lights high into the sky. the chair is powered, walls disappear, ALBUM COVER

  • @tattoofthesun stoner

  • Dagon loves you!

  • i needa to pee but i rather get a bladder infection than to leave during half the song.

  • This song was ringing all over he universe when Jesus rose on easter sunday.

  • This song reminds me of Obelisk

  • @seligsuper nope fuck u

  • Fck. Ktulu called me last night, but I missed the call.

  • i cant find a video with the lyrics...

  • I believe in God.

You see, a long time ago there was this young man. He had a long hair, and many people thought he was crazy because of his ideas, and because of his looks. Still, a chosen few praised him for his wonderful acts, and followed his path. He died young, in unfair circunstances, but his legacy lives on.

His name? Cliff Burton of course, who were you thinking about?

  • @IronMaidnPinkFloyd that was dumb...

  • i Thank Dave Mustaine ONLY for this Song!!

  • @es9107 wrong, also the Dark Lord Cthulhu and Cliff Burton

  • @es9107 dave didnt write the whole song faggot fanboy he only wrote the intro LOL shows how much you know go back to gargling daves balls in your throat

  • @956crazyman19 Hey kid. Go back to thinking you're hardcore on your Lulu videos. Kk?

You remind me of the recruitment team at Penn State....haa what a dumb fuck you are!! haa

  • @956crazyman19 Lulu is proof that MEtallica without Cliff Burton and Dave Mustaine is nothing

  • @benmeister332 Original H.P. Lovecraft spelling is Cthulhu.

  • I have a friend who has this album (not cd, but a real record) that has red lightning instead of blue. It was a misprint and 600 got out the wrong color. I was told it's worth a lot of $

  • @thedreamliner2012 My best advice i can give is to keep it for as long as he can and pass it down to his kids and have them pass it down and it will be worth up to 6 times as much as it is much by then.

  • Oh Flying Spaghetti Monster, how I do love instrumentals!

  • @Meef1701 So by that comment imma take a wild guess and say your an aitheist or how ever you spell it

  • @SuperCApwner na if this song had a dick i would let it fuck me!!!

  • thumbs up if you masturbate while listening to this

  • @MrHarley77777 all the time, then when burton plays his solo ... i cum :D

  • O metallica you so silly, spelling Cthulhu like Ktulu

  • Cthulhu is not a giant Octopus. Or the Devil. He is one of the "Elder Gods", one of the evil ones, a "God" of madness. He can be described as having a pulpy, tentacled head surmounted by a grotesque scaly body with rudimentary wings. Most pictures show a mountainous being with a giant octopus thing for a head, wings like a dragon, and a scaly, man like body. He is the reason mankind gets anxious/goes insane.

  • @McFrenchington love the fact that someone other then me actually read some HP Lovecraft

  • @McFrenchington I'll Take Metallica For Twelve-Hundred...Alex.

  • @McFrenchington Way to plagiarize man.

  • @oreion69 LMAO. To take from an open source website and put it elsewhere is hardly plagiarizing, not to mention about half of that or so is my own words.

  • @McFrenchington The source does not matter because imitation is imitation. It doesn't matter whether you extracted it from a book, article, website, and etc, derp.

  • @McFrenchington nice description.. HP Lovecraft was a genius.. Cliff Burton was a musical genius... nuff said.. BAM.. they gave birth to this song.. and I've been a lovecraft/burton fan for YEARS.. 7 to be precise.. so I decided to get the ultimate tribute.. a chthulu tattoo and then i'll be adding RIP Cliff under it soon..

  • @McFrenchington

    Cthulhu fthagn!

  • @McFrenchington A shrine to madness we erect, A shrine to madness we direct, To the elder god of the sea,

To the elder god of the sea,

Direct your prayers to the city of R'yleigh

And with you he shall be.

  • @McFrenchington Chthulu not dead but within slumber.

  • @McFrenchington Cthulhu isnt real, satin is the reason mankind gets anxious or insane

  • @getyodomerocked Could it be "Satan"?! I know what you mean, BUT... "satin" is a type of fabric. LOL

  • @ezdog0072 lol u know wat i mean "Satan" just a spelling error

  • @getyodomerocked The irony in your statement, oh man, the stupidity displayed is like sunshine to my day. Thank you theist.

  • @TranceSFX i wasnt talking about u ya know lol, i was just correcting my mistake

  • @McFrenchington the cthulu is also a symbol of the Illuminati...... hhhmmmmm..... makes ya wonder doesnt it?

  • @McFrenchington TL;DR He is a octopus/dragon/man thing that will rape your sanity. Seriously people, go read some Lovecraft.

  • @McFrenchington so, like a Sharktopus?

  • kthulu is the devil!

  • the "black " album sucks" after cliff and jason bah!

  • who is Ktulu? Just to put a face to the name.

  • @decepticonmaster1 call of ktulu is a short story by h.p. lovecraft. its about a giant octopus. deadly one too

  • @ledgm108 The Dread Cthulhu is no mere octopus mortal. Cthulhu the dreamer is an ancient one who sleeps 'neath the ocean.

  • Thank you Mustaine, for this influential song. Thank you Mustaine, for Megadeth.

Thank you Metallica, for years of great thrash. Shouldn't be a Metallica vs Megadeth argument EVER.

  • this song is soooo much better here than on S&M

  • all hail cthulhu

  • Because its an instumental. why would anyone click anything justin beiber ???

  • To Live Is To Die

    For Whom The Bell Tolls

    Time Marches On

Appreciate people while they are here today. Today may be your last chance to smile and laugh with them.

Don't let shoulda, coulda, woulda haunt your remembrance of a dear friend or loved one.

  • at about the fourth second in the song i clicked the like button. SQUEE!

  • YOu can hear Mustaine's Influence on this one :)

    Awesome song

  • kick ass

  • So amazing!!!

  • Wah what a beautiful song...takes an ounce of an epic band like to metallica to make something like this

  • my absolute fave metal instrumental tune of all time! And Im a pro musician, so there YOU WANNABE WANKERS CAN SUCK IT

  • @gordonfan32 The Call of Ktulu was actually written by Dave Mustaine and also Fade to Black from this album he was given credit for them so I'm not making this up. I'm a Metallica and Megadeth fan I don't like one better than the other, I'm just giving credit where credit is due

  • def mustaines best showcase hands down

  • Incredible song

  • I'm soooooooooooo gonna blast this song out tonight when I'm passing out Halloween candy :)

  • Not big Metallica fan, but I have to say: the bass in this song is just out of this world. I listen to it for that alone. So good! OOOWOUNHHHHzz

  • I can never seem to say Cthulhu right.....

  • i believe Cliff Burton wrote the instrumentals for these. including Orion from Master of Puppets and To Live Is To Die from And Justice For All.

  • @gordonfan32 To Live Is To Die is a tribute to Cliff's death. The tittle is just quote is said

  • IA IA CTHULHU FHTAGN

  • Between this and orion metallica will never be forgotten!!
