wow, people who are speaking now in the video - they saw all this and DID NOT do anything that moment!!!!! fantastic
Overall - ugly movements, unnatural gait. Crooked riders looking like blood sucking vampires on the top of the horses. Where is the beauty? How can anybody like this horror!?
Thank you for producing this series. I was searching for training videos to help me with my pacey Tennessee Walker when I found your videos. He is natural and barefoot since I bought him a year ago. He was sold as a trail horse. I had no idea that this went on. I cried when I saw those beautiful Walkers hyper-extending their front legs. I could see their pain when asked to canter. I don't know how anyone who loves horses could do that or let it be done to their animal. It is criminal!
OK HOLD ON! i have an idea. why dont we round up every owner that shows these horses. everyone gets to pick the person they want to ride. put them down on their hands and knees, slap a bit in their mouth, beat them till they walk pretty then put weights on their hands and feet. then do kerosene or gasoline, anything to irritate them and hurt them so they'll step higher. DO NOT STOP! even if they're bleeding and cant get up! thats how the horses they ride feel! whataya say? lets give em a taste
@mySYNZnotmytradgidy Sounds like a plan, unfortunately they can talk and we're gonna go to jail for that, not like those assholes who can get through with this!

I just don't think the gait looks good. Not to mention the cruelty involved. If you put a horse that hasn't been sored and all that crap next to one of these horses, i think the former would look better.
The TWH canter is a animated gait and looks strange to ppl not familiar with the breed. For untrained eyes it is one of the easiest gaits to begin to recognize soreness be it in hoof, joint, muscle, mouth or back. Pay attention to the 2nd and 4th horses transition in particular into canter, they hardly miss a beat with transition and speed.A sound horse moves with ease and flow. A sore horse CANT do that. I see several VERY talented sound horses there, and some not so. Rewind "LOOK" a few times.
AT 5:41 when they start to canter......I know the TWH canter is a animated gait and looks strange to all ppl not familiar with it, But IF you will watch that clip of those 4/5 diff horses it is OBVIOUS which ones may have some soreness, wether it be in foot, joint or back. Just watch and "think" what should a horse that look like when it moves? How does a horse that is unsound move? How should the transitions from one gait to another be? LOOK there several examples of VERY sound talented horses
What about the other breeds? The quarter horses that cut ligaments in the neck to make them look "relaxed", What about Racking horses that go through the same supposed stuff the Walking horses do... What about the Saddlebreds that go through as bad or worse than Walking horses???? why do walking horses get the worst, why not ALL breeds???
@walkindstables06 yes i do agree with you hunn. i do. but right now at this point in time soring is on the irse and these horses are dying the slowest most painful death you can imagine. they need the utmost support right now.
@walkindstables06 there are children starving on the streets of America, but you turn a blind eye, so you can judge a horse... go see a child starve...
@walkindstables06 oh really? then what is this shit with scoring and putting KAROSENE on their feet so they'll look pretty because the owners are too blind to accept their natural beauty. these stupid shows should be outlawed!!!!!! they're cruel and inhumane! and you know this too. you're just defending it because you probably own one of these animals and score them as well and are just trying to cover it up.
FOSH was formed by a group of people with horse that could not compete with flat shod horses in the upper end of TWH shows. They contended they were beat because of soring (these are horses without pads or chains) when in reality they did not have the quality of livestock required to compete at that level. A good flat shod show horse will cost you $15,000.00 plus. They tried to compete with $2500.00 horses. You're right your VW can't beat my Lexus.
Work real hard and save your money and one day you might (maybe) be able to afford one. Since you know nothing about walking horses your ignorance is only out shadowed by your indignation. What about saddle breds? Pads, action devices, artificial gate....same as the walking horse.
@windfallstables1 LMAO You're full of crap! I used to board my QH at a "flat shod" TWH barn. They don't show in pads, and only in light chains, but the training at home is not much better than what is being discussed here. Every style of showing has its cheaters, but only with the TWH industry is torture the standard practice.
And that's called a canter? THE HORSE CAN BARELY MOVE! UNREAL. DISGUSTING. THE HORSE CAN'T GET OUT OF IT'S OWN WAY. AWFUL. AWFUL. AWFUL. Plus the riders look like Quasimoto.Something needs to be done. I'm open to suggestions.
This isn't that bad. Its comparable to what people do. I mean, my wife puts my little girl in shows that are about two or three sizes too small to make sure she doesn't grow big feet, cuz she's kinda tall for her age. They used to actually wrap up girls feet to hold them to a single size. Now we don't do that, we just use smaller shoes, and it doesn't hurt that bad. Your joints actually change in response and you get a nice foot that's got a high arch and small length, very sexy!
Nothing finer then a naturally gaited flat shod TWH! What's the worst of this crap is the poor horse Never gets to be a Horse! They're kept in stalls 24/7, except to be ridden/ trained to do this shit for the owners / trainers & riders to win ribbons! I've seen these horses in TN in their stalls and ANY can tell they're not happy about what they're being put through and Made to do! No LIFE FOR A HORSE! Horses were meant to be FREE and able to run, play and be Outside in the fresh air!
Well were are all allowed our own opinion...If you don't like the way they look then stop watching these videos!!!!! Aubun vet school did an 8 year study pads dont do anything horrible to them so get your facts correct before you start running your mouths!!!!
this isnt natrual. for this breed or anyother. i hate seeing weighted shoes on anyhorse. but soaring is in a hole new catarory, of abuse so not right they should just go natrural
can't these dumb blind son of a bitches see these horses are having difficulty and pain moving.these poor creatures will spend their retirement from show years stumbling as they walk . do not support any show where horses are shown in stacked shoes or similar torture devices the poor horse at 5:60 moves grotesquely. this is a damn shame and these bastards get prizes for this ! ck
~Watching the actual horses MOVE in this video made me SICK! Soaring is CRUEL and nobody in their RIGHT MIND should think this is acceptable and the way a horse should be treated. The way the horse has to travel/move is injuring it's body over time and look how far back on the horse the rider has to sit over the kidneys. THIS IS AN EVIL PRACTICE! ~ LOOK HOW HUNCHED OVER THE MALE RIDERS SIT! Bunch of friggn hunch backs!!!BAD BAD FORM.. This looks horrible! ~

Those huge clompy blocks on wood on the poor horses' feet can cause major problems in later life. I've had Walkers all my life, and we've come across many former "build-up" showhorses who had tripping issues, making them unsafe for even trail riding. Damn you stupid build-up people!
i use to board my horse at a stables that had walkers and the horses step high like that but they never sored the horse, the used the boots and nothing else. and i have ridden those horses, and they were never in any pain or anything. but they also didnt were the boots all the time. i have never heard of this soring until today, and i dont think all walkers are done like this, they can be trained without abuse
In the UK any farrier who "shod" a horse in this barbaric manner would be immediately struck off the register by the WCF & NAFBAE, and subject to criminal charges for animal cruelty, with a substantial fine and a jail term. At least in this country we have had laws in place to protect horses from unqualified or poor shoeing since about 1660.
As for leaning the bodyweight of the rider on the long-shanked bit, and sitting on it's kidneys, this would also lead to an animal cruelty charge.
Isn't it sad how those who are in the thick of it will hear first-hand evidence and STILL won't admit there's a problem? I truly believe that until we remove pads, bands, chains, and the like from the show ring, then these horses will continue to be abused due to ignorance and self-righteousness. We are dealing with a society that is ingrained and immune to abuse. It's high time their access to abuse is shut down.
Crap!!!My mom and dad are sitting at the front of those stands. How mand TWH trainers have their horses lined up behind the show ring to load up for slaughter house???Why Well thats because they dont do it, Take this crap someolace else
I would say that even without soring, those padded shoes alone ae abuse and cruel. Not less as you think of how they're not there only during the show.
The stress that kind of thing causes the legs, not to mention the unatural movements through the entire stiff body.
I am not just hitting this breed, i have seen my share of practices that are just as bad in the race world, other breeds, and disiplines. over weighted shoes , over use of shackles and running w's , bleeding , running broken horses, chemicels or cutting of tails, lopes laboring, wired ears to keep them forward. i can go on. but to say this is untrue is not correct cause the results are out there and many of us have seen it and i do believe we need more inspections on all horse competitions
what is funny you say it is untrue ,, you laugh at it what do you gain to say this is untrue. do you make money off off this? I have been the horse industry for over 20 years as a proffesional. as for the gaited breeds i have seen the results of these practices. I cannot believe having just that much padding and wieght is not obvious to to anyone not only comfortable for the horse as it is laboring. let alone soring practices.
Typical propaganda. Don't believe it. This is not the truth. I cannot believe the depth to which these people will stoop to get shock factor. this is a pack of lies.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
FYI every horse in this video has been inspected by designated qualified inspectors (trained by the USDA) to even enter the ring and at this competition level, the usda had more than likely inspected these horses as well. The commentary of the "trainer/judge" is bogus. all horses entered in an HIO (Horse industry organization) are inspected prior to showing. Maybe some back wood show doesn't inspect but the horses shown in the video are from the Celebration and believe me they were inspected.
Thank you. Just...thank you. I never knew. If I ever see this, I'll say something. Is there a place that adopts out the broken ones? I'd love to give one a home where it can walk around on normal feet.
