was * written* by John Stewart of the Kingston Trio. Of the 11 songs on their original Greatest Hits album, only Listen to the Band was written by a Monkee-- Mike Nesmith,the most accomplished musician of the bunch. The group was artificially created for TV &

producers *limited* how much of their

(meaning mostly or entirely Nesmith's)

music could be on each album. He may have
