  • He makes it a lot more complicated. Go buy a electric tuner

  • Comment removed

  • you're all a bunch of tight-arses. Isn't music meant to be an art rather than a science? why have you all got so het-up about this? why does it matter so much to you? I quite like music myself, but to be perfectly honest I don't think that it's extremely important. it can be pleasant, but not vital (to me, at least). you'd think he'd murdered someone judging by the hate comments this gadgie's getting.

  • @robsargent4

music is art. learning an instrument is science. this guy is shit

  • @jiuhb maybe, but does it really matter all that much? Is all that offensive?

  • @robsargent4 the cellists who know what to do or want to shouldn't watch this video because this is not how you tune. Music is both a science and an art. im not saying he is bad, but he does many things incorrectly. If you watch his vibrato video, he doesn't do the vibrato correctly. Same thing with his plucking video. He doesn't hold the bow correctly and he doen't have his right hand positioned right either. On the up side, he has a nice tone and posture. He's not all bad .

  • @shadowchickwolfgirl you're probably right to be honest. fair comment

  • is it just me or is it insanely obvious that hes on drugs?..

  • watch?v=DTYx0_rksYA

  • GO TO AN ACTUAL MUSICIAN FOR ADVICE BEFORE YOU PUT SOME BULLSHIT UP. seriously, it's really misleading. the title should be "how to play the Cello if you are not interested in learn it properly"

  • I've only been playing cello for a couple weeks, and this video makes me sick...

  • @0:55 nailed it bitches!!

  • Cellos have frets now?

  • fucking tard.

  • Erm ur G is outta tune and your harmonics don't quite match..That's how I tune but I start with the a harmonic and I have perfect pitch

  • are you a guitarist first?

  • however he's cute xDD

  • @Raithorna ew

  • no chyba nie.

even i do it better after one year of playing -.-''

  • Lovely how someone actually tries to explain how to tune a string instrument in a video which is about one minute long..

Funny to that he uses the word "fret" concerning the cello... makes me kinda sad... :(

  • @newVeganwave i agree

    and

funny how he said " fret position" as in that is were the fret would be if their was one

  • I like the G string(:

  • A expert musician ?... O_o

  • Even if you don't know cello at ALL, you can criticise him seriously. He plays vibrato differently on two videos.

  • well at least he's interested in a classical instrument...unlike most of america unfortunately

  • i think people are just being critics to sound smart. but who knows.

  • 29 people were totally stunned by his epic fail performance, they clicked on a wrong button.

  • hola?XDD

  • Fret? Fret = FAIL! how are you supposed learn anything?

  • @mayanluciecookin frets are just the positions labled with metal bars

  • he s kindna of cute but he doesnt smile much so minus that!

  • Hahaha, fucking stop and tighten your end pin man, stop trying to look cool and at least do what you do right.

  • *sigh* I think you should all shut up anyways. Who's the multi-instrumentalist musician featured in Jazz festivals? Him. No you. So shut your yaps. What he teaches helps the people who have to try and learn how to tune without the aid of a cello teacher.

  • He sucks. He's not a cellist.

  • Lol he doesn't know what he's doing

  • @spotofblack What do you expect ? It's expertvillage ...

  • I don't like this guy that much. The way he hits the harmonics shows that he doesn't play cello.

  • fret? this guy is an idiot

  • im in the orchstra at my school and we have to learn how to tune the strings and its hard for me because im a begginer

  • 0:28 FAIL!

  • wtf this expert village is complete bullshit!!! you dont learn shit from this!!!

  • You start on the A string to tune all the string because of how the strings are wound on the pegs & while tuning with A first the other strings won't adjust pitch, in contrast to starting on G then going to A then D the tensions throw off the pegs tension. Tuning in a 'linear' fashion makes tuning simple & quick only experience tells you that.

  • woow THANKS...REALLY!

  • 0:28 FAIL!

  • damnit! YOU READ MY MIND SwatonFate lmfao I swear i was gonna write the same thing i will anyway lol

  • i love to start on A!

  • dude are NOT a cello player and you DONT start on G you start on A i started a few months ago and i know this! seriously

  • dude he said he TENDS to start on G.

  • @Escott013 LOL!!!

  • Completely pointless. I didn't get anything out of this video.

  • note to expert village. DONT LET A GUITARIST TEACH PEOPLE HOW TO PLAY THE CELLO!!!! FRETS!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?! and why would you start on the G string? start on the A string and tune your way down....

  • hi, of course, i was taught to tune instrument from A; however, it is his way i think....you are not permissive?

  • I agree that he isn't the best cellist ever, but saying the word "frets" is absolutely NOT what makes him a bad teacher.

  • it sorta is

  • Are you kidding me!!! I'm brand new to cello, I have no clue what your taking about!

  • the cello is a beautiful instrument. the sound, the way it looks, etc. LOVE IT!

  • you're an idiot. don't mislead people. there are no frets on a cello and you start with the A string to tune it.

  • y este de donde salio que verguenza ajena verlo hacer esa estupides que hace

  • I play the sarod too!

  • U look like a bearded Hagi :)

  • true xD.. but i miss the cold looking eyes and some hair in his face xD

  • its a classical technique,

classical guitarists do this as well,

they tune the A first. which is the fifth string.

its were the G string is on a cello

  • thankyou i just tuned my cello!

  • who starts on the g string!?!?!

  • I agree. Why on earth would you begin with the G string? However, harmonics for tuning are very useful. For those of you who may not know, you typically tune to the concertmaster's A in a group. Then you tune the other strings from there--using the harmonics is a great way to do this.

  • exactly.

  • i know! i agree

  • Firstly, if he is playing on steel strings, which it sounds like, he should be using adjusters, as the high tension of a steel string demands a finer tuner than the peg alone. Secondly, there is a technique of twisting the peg as you turn, as opposed to merely finding the pitch and then pushing it in as hard as you can. Thirdly, it is important to ensure that you have 4 pegs that have been fitted properly by a decent professional.

  • Do you think he is getting money for this?

  • I nearly always use the pegs to tune (using larson and spiracore wolfram). I find it quicker. But for a beginner it's probably easier to tune with adjusters.
