  • ISnt that the winning bell they used on

    The 20.000 Pyramid?

  • @puppyshoes That was very observant ! That was indeed a very similar sound effect "bell" dated back to the 70's version of Pyramids. Interesting how they used it in this particular daytime 80's version. A rarity indeed. That bell, indicating a correct answer, was actually used throughout the entire syndicated night-time version of $25,000 Pyramid with Bill Cullen.

  • @puppyshoes Yes it was.

  • @puppyshoes YES! It sounded like a desk bell! I didn't even notice it until I say YOUR post!

  • @puppyshoes Somewhat, yes.

  • fabulous! absolutely fabulous!

  • I wonder if from 1:28-1:40 has made it to the flashback montages. Does anybody remember this win in one of the flashback intros? I think this if I'm not mistaken was seen as a flashback when John Goss was a contestant on this show a year later.

  • CONSERVATIVE was tricky.

  • @nextbarker

    Ronald Reagan's political ideology.

  • WOW, Constance was a Machine on Clark's $25,000 Pyramid, Jamie Farr helped 2 contestants win $10,000 on John Davidson's $100,000 Pyramid.

and also, Leeza Gibbons on The All New Pyramid w/Donny Osmond has also helped 2 contestants win $10,000 as well.

  • It's amazing that she aquainted the Republican Party with "conservative things" today that clue woun't be as useful.

My father is an old school republican and he is a conservative. Mit Romney is an old school and he is a conservative, Ron Paul is an old school conservative, but by-in-large the party has lost it focus.

  • Constance was a friggin' machine this entire episode.

  • This is one of my favorite $10,000 wins... ever.

  • Pretty epic, right? :D

  • This was a pleasure to see. Constance McCashin always seemed so stiff and unhappy to be on the later shows I've seen on GSN ($100K version from around 86-87). She was a wicked player, no doubt, so I'm glad to have seen this happy side of her. Thank you so much for posting.

  • Well I'd be unhappy if they killed my ass off of KNOTS LANDING just when it started getting good!

  • Although Constance did leave the show in 1987, somehow, that didn't stop her from appearing on Pyramid once more (she did the $100K version in 1988), on "Win Lose or Draw", also in 1988, and on "Super Password", yet again in 1988. I don't think she's done another game show since then; someone please correct me if I'm wrong here.

  • She was also on The $100,000 Pyramid in early '87, too. Remember? With Richard Kline of Three's Company? ;)

  • Both Constance McCashin and Richard Kline have one thing in common. You know what it is? It's being a contestant on "Pyramid". Constance was a contestant on the original $25K Pyramid with Ed Asner, and Richard was a contestant on the $10K Pyramid with Steve Allen in 1974

  • You are right vnisanian. I think when they did the Knots Landing reunion she did not want her face shown on one of the clips they showed. She is now a psychologist I think.

  • And plus, the weather vane-like clock display was HUGE compared to later shows...

  • Hi!

I, too had seen that the clock's size was large. And, yes, it was smaller in later shows, I do know that for sure.

  • Also, in these very EARLY '80s Pyramid eps., they used a much different font for displaying wins.

  • I noticed that myself. I think someone had commented that this font for the $10,000 graphic was used during the first week of this version of the show, then started using a different style for the graphic from the next week on. I think this font that we see in this video is Helvetica. I have this font on a fonts CD, but it has a different name. I don't know what the name of the other font is that was used for the $10,000/$25,000 graphic. Have you any ideas???

    -Matt

  • I think the font is a variation of the Bookman Old Style font, though I'm not sure.

I do know that font for the closing credits used from 1982-either sometime in '84 or '85 are similar to the font used on the ABC sitcom "Just the Ten of Us."
