  • Many bass players idolize Jaco, but deep down they really want to pay like Victor Wooten. Same as guitarists who have Steve Vai on their wall, but they really want to play like Hendrix :)

  • first ı have given my as* to victor wooten if i were a girl

  • 500000 views, I am hopeful about people musical choices compared to the bad music quality we get everywhere in public places and in medias.

  • can somebody tell me what is the name of the song in 3:00?

  • @kiko5almeida I think is a tune of js bach!

  • He was plauing at 2 dammm how smart is he?

  • "Music is not a collection of notes, scales, theories, and techniques. Music to me is fulfilling." THAT is the pure way to approach music.

  • last song of the vid, OVER JOYED

  • anybody plz wats the name of the last song that thang is so peaceful to the soul wooooooooo

  • I used not be really big on Victor Wooten, but as I progressed in my playing, this man is a giant inspiration for me. The things he says blow my mind.

  • I feel very sad for the 18 people that dislike something and someone this amazing!

  • Pretty sure they dont mean "Victor has picked up EXACTLY where Jaco left off". Its probably more along the lines of " Like Jaco, Victor is one of the greatest and most accomplished bassists of his time, and his introduction of new techniques and playing ideas is invalueable to the bass world".

They're both more than just "bass players", they're musicians. And they both formed their own revolutionary styles unique to themselves, which thousands of people try to emulate or cite as influences.

  • Overjoyed by Stevie wonder at 3:46

  • @samdenseje I thought it was a Ksmith, It is a Fodero. Checke out their website.

  • Do anyone know where you can buy that bass, he always plays? Love it!

  • id like to know what style of kung fu he trains in..looked like wing chun from the suit and the dummy.

  • He certainly is the most phenomenal Bass Phenom I've ever heard.

  • Victor is great but greatest bass player of our times?Too general of a statement. That makes it sound like every other great bass player's hard work is shit.I know many unknown players that have supported and played with some of the finest musicians on the planet never making the music seem like a competition but an experience.

  • What's the song at 3:46?

  • @josebuencamino The name of the song @ 3:36 is Overjoyed

  • Why doesn't he do the backflips off walls at his shows? THAT WOULD BE TOO EPIC FOR ANYBODY!

  • Victor Wooten? A continuation of Jaco Pastorius? I love Vic, but these two players are completely different. They shouldn't be compared, in my opinion. Victor is Victor, Jaco is Jaco. Both awesome, both different.

  • @taufoofar I think you interpreted it wrong, what he means about Victor being the continuation of Jaco Pastorius is the level of influence. Jaco has brought a level of influence in the bass that the world has ever imagined and Victor Wooten is doing the same.

  • @taufoofar I think what they mean by that is that he's the next bass legend, yknow?

  • @buefyYT Well, they might mean that, but there's a big difference between saying that he's the next most influential bass player after Jaco and saying that he's the continuation of Jaco.

  • @taufoofar

Of course, but I think people just see it as a thing like Jaco was one of the best if not the best at his style, and victor is one of the best if not the best at his style.

  • But he took something out of him, which means that joco influenced on vic, while playing together too, but he carried out a completly personal and different style, apreciated by every trully bass player

  • U probably know both bass players perfectly, but as he sais at the beggining he drank from the most perfect technics of the bass line compositions, so you see james brown to learn and improve the start, he carries on with slap and sais jaco taugh him something completly different and out of the bass

  • now there's a Master!

  • MY IDOL!!!!

  • what song is t at 3:00? :)

  • What is the first song?

  • @destructivduo Victa from Soul Circus album.

  • Can someone please tell me the name of the song at the beginning. The one that starts off the video. Please

  • @jeffharper47 sex in a pan by bela fleck and the flecktones

  • There should be no dislike option on this page.

  • I burst into laughter at 2:59 . Does anyone know where I can see the whole piece?

  • @josebuencamino yeah there's a solo where he puts that part /watch?v=tthroVK8JN8&feature=related

  • From what he was saying at the beginning of this video, I want to see and hear the Wooten Family band!!!

  • Victor is a great bass player, this video was a little tacky but in all it was good.

  • What a God given talent. Wish I could play with him just once.

  • @icedbannanas how can u think hes a dick? I think he sounds like a really down to earth guy who knows his stuff and isnt affraid to express his opinions if you know what i mean? :)

  • Amazing video!

  • I'm flying from NYC to Nashville in March to take Victor's Bass/Nature Camp!! I can't wait to learn from this man!

  • @JohnFHebert lucky bustard :P i envy you :((( :D Have fun at the camp dude i hope i can take the camp 1 day :))

  • I wonder what's Amazing grace really means to this guy. I smell the new age spirit, not the spirit of Christ.

  • 16 people have no soul

  • @dwinkle6 0:00 - 0:43 what is the name of this song? and where can i buy it?

  • @RhcpRoskildeTv Sex in a pan. iTunes...

  • @dwinkle6 I just don't like the feeling of warping reality to such an extent that a musician (specifically as I am particularly into music) is turned into an untouchable persona.Gigging around I find many musicians buying into the image of being a superhero onstage, becoming self absorbed and frankly annoying.I'm sure Vic isn't like that at all, and just found it a bit pity that I felt that was the image that was coming across (for me).I could of course be getting the completely wrong impression.

  • @icedbannanas You're a successful publicists so you know far better than I do,but I am glad that you are also aware of the different needs of consumers (pretty obvious comments I know).Meeting you or in Vic in Kensignton would be awesome, even though I am but a measly law student in London, so I don't see how I could realistically suggest anything artistically!Nonetheless, even though I know meeting you or Vic will never happen, it's funny how small the world is and the convos you can have online!

  • GODLIKE in Bass.No words cab explain.

  • GODLIKE in Bass..no words can explain.

  • I have no idea how anyone can dislike this video

  • @cjtrapper That's because they're Flea or Les Claypool fans.

  • @PRSguy94 Personally, I'm a huge Les fan, and even Victor pays respect to Les in his song (Bass Tribute- Reprise). He's very innovative on the instrument and does stuff that many other bassists have come to imitate. Flea for me is more of a run-of-the mill bass player compared to the greats like Vic and Stanley. I think the dislikes go beyond being a fan of another bassist instead of Victor.

  • @cjtrapper I'm a big fan of Vic, not really of Les or Flea though... It just kinda seemed to fit the situation. I and do agree, the dislikes do go beyond being a fan of one or the other. I just know so many people that when I mention the name Victor Wooten they always ask "Is he like Les Claypool?" or "Who's that? Is he better than Les Claypool?".

  • Fuck you victor wooten. :D

  • Darn, he does Kung Fu too? Dude's really amazing.

  • Did he just do a backflip off a wall?

  • some people compare him to metal bass player!people you must realize that metal is diferent than jazz!!! wooten cant play metal and trujilo cant play jazz!!

  • @mikaboom123 trust me ;) wooten can play metal ;)

  • @DJMiniBurnie Metal is easy >.>

  • @Guitareben Man, it depends of which metal you're talking about... If you say that metal is easy, then you don't know shit about metal... Try searching math metal, avant-garde or progressive, then you will find that metal is more than easy noise.

  • @SaimiriSociety Oh yea, totally agree. Generally when I say metal i kinda mean like Metallica, bullet and stuff, for me that is metal. Ofc some metal is hard, lots of prog metal is hard, and meshuggah..... (math metal type stuff :D )

I should have made myself more clear sorry ^^

    Have fun man :D

  • @Guitareben No problem, you too :)

  • @mikaboom123 well..actually dude. jazz and metal are very much alike. they're both played in minor keys and use a lot of the same music theory such as modes, arpeggios, ect. Victor could play metal REALLY easily if he wanted to. metal just has more distortion and either have a higher tempo or use shorter notes like 64th notes. i've actually taken a jazz riff and worked it to metal, and vice versa. it's not hard.

  • A true living legend and the "Grandmaster" of our instrument and spoken like a true champion crediting his inspirations and his brother for showing him the instrument. Nice back flip off the wall to.

  • It's not a colletion of notes, skills and technique, music to me is fullfelling :)

  • Wow, what's that shit that starts at 3:47? Is it part of an actual song?

  • @Diffle It's a Stevie Wonder song called "Overjoyed". He has a version of it on the CD "A show of Hands"

  • @Diffle It's a Stevie Wonder song called "Overjoyed". He has a version of it on the CD "A show of Hands"

  • @andrewmajano182 are you joking?

  • @250Yogi yyyea

  • @andrewmajano182 Oh Yea? Listen to You can't hold no groove by Victor Wooten

  • @andrewmajano182 hahahahahahahahahahaha nice

  • @andrewmajano182

if you knew anything about bass...hell anything about music you would know that would you just said was laughable.

Victor often plays multiple voicings on the same instrument, playing a bass line on top of a bass line whether it be through tapping or any number of other techniques. Victor Wooten is very probably the best technically skilled bass player alive. Flea's lines are fast and funky, but thats all they are, mostly octaves as well. Get a clue.

  • Impressive vocabulary? Fuck you, the man's a god!

  • I must say he is one of the best bass players on earth. Amazing. :)

  • Victor is an awesome bassist and artist; check out my page on him here .squidoo.com/VictorWootenBassPlayer. This video really sums up his amazing skill he is definitely a bass god!

  • Victor Lamont Wooten = fucking alien.

  • i love this man !

come in my youtube space to see my vidéos !

i try to play some of his musics (i try ^^)

    enjoy ;-)

  • I think flea is just as good as Victor, just in his own style. They're both absolutely over the top musicians, along with Les Claypool. I also really like Justin Chancellor's playing, but his style is way different.

  • what is the song at 3:48?

  • @smebrash Overjoyed by stevie wonder it's his bass cover of it :)

  • 'm bassist and also do not know any better bassist Victor Wooten.

    Congratulations, Victor

  • @willisgreene Too bad not many people know him compared with Victor

  • @willisgreene You're joking right?

  • 3:18 HOLY SHIIIIIIIT!

  • Victor Wooten, I salute you.

  • "English is my first language, music is my second, but I learned them at the same time, & in the same way, so what I found is that my approach to music, is different". (3:31) Awesome

  • Holy Shit...He's good...

  • Mesmerizing talent. Wow!

  • I LOVE VW!!

  • what's the song in the background of the video clip?

  • @heckermann the first one is Sex in a pan, then Victa, and amazing grace

  • @brunnerdudes Is the victor who plays it or is it someone else?

  • @heckermann victors playing them
