  • I use pro-mark 5B

  • wrong, the hand that plays the grace note plays the tap,

  • @UKrocketeer No he's playing it the riight way.

  • @eblue33 sorry i was thinking inverts

  • @UKrocketeer You are thinking of the 29th rudiment and it is called an Inverted Flam Tap.

  • dude, great uh demo if you will xD hey why dont you use remo drum pad?

  • when he goes fast ... it's noticed that his right arms are much stronger..

    but he's amazing :)

  • Any tips on how to flam tap?

  • Let your wrists relax and get a feel for the flow of the sticks when they rebound off the snare. You'll eventually feel the pattern..Just keep performing it slow until you feel it..

  • It's really nice... but in 0:20 the right flam starts to sound dirty... and when it gets faster it loses the flam sound

  • What sticks are he using? I like the way they have no bolded tip :)

  • The brand is Pr-Mark. Go out to the website and look around. I am sure with a little 'homework' on your behalf, you can find out what kind. Don't use a certain stick just because YOU think it looks cool. There are dozens of sticks and you need to find the one that is comfortable to you.

  • I meant to say PRO-MARK

  • dude i recomend sco jo's

  • thoes are nice!

  • i think he's using the butt of the sticks

  • They're marching style sticks, they don't come with a tip.

  • you are a complete idiot!! marching style sticks have a bigger tip than concert sticks. IDIOT!!

  • @troypunked77 I've gotta ask - why do people (you) get SO wound up and over react on youtube?! He'd never seen marching sticks before, does that really make him a complete idiot? Is he really sensless in every aspect of life because he said that? Was there never a time in you're life when you didnt know what marching sticks were, or were you just born with that knowledge?

  • @drummerkingmike

It is because others need to make themselves feel better over the internet! lol

  • @drummerkingmike yeahp i was born with the knowledge of drumming, never took lessons, and won state champ for high school drum corp. i think i was just pissed off that day. i'm sorry bro.

  • No they are made that way, called blue something...

  • no they're not marching sticks, but they're sticks for other percussion like on timbales

but i forget what they're called

  • @snarebynature no, that is a special type of stick...

  • One of my favorite excersizes :)

  • The accents slowly dwindled to nothing. You've got to maintain consistent accents no matter how fast you go. If you can't keep strong accents, don't go so fast.

  • you actually don't see accented flam taps that often written in music...

  • mannnn... this dude is pretty awesome!

  • Don't want to be mean, but you should really practice this one a lot more.

  • he went double stroke there

  • can someone please upload a response on how a flam is supposed to sound if these are in fact played wrong? I've seen a lot of comments that say they are too wide. Thx

  • dude i have 2 agree with these guys man if your gana put something on-line as simple as flam taps do them well, im not saying u do play bad im sure u could do very good flam taps but yes those wernt the best

  • have you ever seen bouncing? get down into moeller technique; it will help you to develop strength, clearly and speed. but first, start watching them.

  • When you go fast, your Flams become flat and the roll sound like a Double Stroke one. You should work on that before posting an instructional video.

  • that's true

  • @FrameSticker like you never made a mistake before i bet you cant go as fast as him

  • does it still count if i do the flam first?

  • man i can only do the spead at :22

    gotta keep practicing :]

  • ha i got up to :25

  • only???im only 9 and i can go up to 35...:P

  • r u playin flams? with out flams i can do the whole vid or even go faster

  • go faster playing what?

    single stroke, double, what?

  • well duh cuz without flams it would just be a double strocked roll

  • Do you have to be ambidextrous to play drums or is it just me

  • this guys wicked good, cuz i cant do any of these lol ill stick with guitar

  • what's up with all of the WOW and HOLY, that was not the best, not at all even played right hardly

  • holy ..... jus curious, are those zildjian sticks :D?

  • they are promark

  • thats just awesome!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Get your Dirty Flams out!!

  • THOSE ARE SOME FUCKIN WIDE FLAMS BRO

  • they're suppose to be wide. Your hands are suppose to be at approx. 90 degrees.

  • Not talking about the hands, the actual grace note is way to wide to the downbeat!

  • Yeah i know, I can play flams better then that shit, i can put them in different patterns, Im just wierd. I just wanted to look at this and laugh alittle. The point of the grace note is that it's suppose to make the accent sound little higher when it HITS together, you will notice when you play it. Try a single stroke, then apply a grace note on the second not, the accent will be more solid and louder with the grace note, thats a flam XD

  • Work on your flams. When you sped up, your flams stopped being flams and were just the sticks hitting the pad at the same time.

  • Thats what you call a FLAM idiot!

  • Actually, a flam is any note preceded by a grace note, a note with no actual value. However, a grace note should be as close to the main note as possible, without the two notes hitting at exactly the same time. What happened here is the latter. Also, the flams played here were pretty dirty to begin with.

  • vic firth pad and promark sticks... haha nice
