these things are dumber then the trees they sit in the winter. as we call them here in tbay " blobs" because when u look at the trees, ull see a big brown spot in a birch tree. its hillarious when u shoot them.
That is so true. A couple of years ago we heard some drumming noise and it was like really wierd. So we checked it out and it was the grouse. Awesome!!!
Some people use four wheelers and drive in the woods because the drumming noise attracts the grouse. Kind of unfair, i think.
Wow, very nice! Fun to see them do that from that close up. Almost looks like you're at the friggin' zoo. Amazing how still they are able to hold their head while drumming (2:30).
Sounds exactly like a generator starting

Predators like foxes and cats will zero in on a drumming bird like this.Hello dinner !!
This is a male partridge drumming to attract a mate.Notice the black ruffles on its neck ; hence, the "ruffed" grouse.
NICE video...also human hunters have been known to track down and stalk drummers for their supper.

You seem to know a lot about partridge...
I'll bet your Dad or Uncle taught you everything you know about these wonderful birds...

Nice! I've never actually seen one do this, but I can hear them from my window in the morning.
