  • woohooo rockvill bmx

  • wtf with there helmets...... i know its old school but i wound not wear one of those

  • @tragedyRIP702 They required us to wear helmets, even for flatland. I didnt mind, it hid my weird lookin head

  • @midohiofreestyler hahaha

  • Any reason for the music. Flash caddillac and the continnental kids?

  • @bradconlin666 Actually its Danny and the Juniors. And 50s rock is the best!

  • Was the music chosen for you or did you get to pick your own soundtrack? Can't believe you would like this stuff. BTW...great videos thanks for posting.

  • @Sutorius76 No I chose this music, I have loved 50s rock and roll ever since I was a little kid. And you gotta admit, its alot better than the 80s pop that most guys rode to back then.

  • @midohiofreestyler Agreed....no one should ever have to hear Wham ever again!

  • Muito boooommm

  • @midohiofreestyler what kind of bike was this, and whats your favorite old school bike?

  • MIAMI HOPPERS ARE BEAST

  • thats beast

  • All these kids today are completely oblivious to their roots...

  • @LIGHTRONIX

Nailed it on the head..Its AMAZING how these little pricks just bag everything..If you have a front brake, you the biggest reject stupid idoit fuck to walk the face of the earth to those kids. Something as simple as rocking a front brake, these kids will loose sleep wondering why you'd do something so pussy-ish lol. Cause guess what? you can use your foot! imagine that, yes they are very very smart and sooooo good lol. I hate those kids!!

  • Eso es del año del pedo o,o

  • 2:03 is epic!

  • I'm warped a lot of wheels doing barendos back in the days, until I got myself some tuff wheels. I still have my Skyway TA bike hung up in the garage as well as my PK Ripper and Mongoose Californian frames. I've always wanted a Hutch Trickstar and a Haro Freestyle.

  • Ffffuuu

  • Im better

  • Can they ever play some up to date music for the decade. LoL

  • i love how far flatland bmx has came since then to now

  • That was great!!! Brings me right back. i got a couple of rl20s still.

  • We should do some Old school style Flatland/ramp contest with everything oldschool: the bike, the outfit.... and the guys :-))

  • Man, back then if you could do the Cherry Picker we considered you a BMX God!

  • lol looks like his rims were bending at 1:37

  • Yep, Tuff Wheels bend like crazy.

  • it looks like it because they were...

  • @ItsAndyYo theres really no need for the smart ass answer

  • sorry man

  • wow

  • damn! cherry picker.nice vid.

  • LOL I can honestly say, novel music, and that commentator :P lost for words?

    Fantastic freestyling nonetheless lol

  • nice run, nice bike. those Trickstars were the shit back then... heck they still are...

  • Yeah they had nice geometry for flatland. They were not very strong though, I broke mine at the headtube after only 6 months. It was replaced under warranty and then that one broke! I remember throwing it away! :( I wish I could go back in time and tell my younger self "hey, ya know ya might wanna hang on to that" lol!

  • @romero2k wat do u call the trick at 1:35

  • @Toxin932 A bar endo or miami hopper

  • @romero2k

Yeah i had the trickstar graphics tattooed on my back.

  • man i wasnt even born yet back then... kool video

  • man, this takes me back to growing up in Akron! Thats all we did was freestyle when i was a kid..athough i was only 3 years old in 85. lol!

  • i just got myself a trick star, and those little front pegs are murder on my feet! i wonder how you survived doing those trackstands and hops on them...

  • Yeah those trickstar fork pegs were basically useless. I put GT fold up pegs on top of them later. If you watch my video from OCT 85 you can see that I did that.

  • @midohiofreestyler you have trick star today?

  • your good

  • wow tht was excellent. did you win?

  • Yes I won first place here. I was one of the first freestylers in central Ohio. I was 3 to 4 years older than most everybody else so I had a head start on most everybody. But just a few years later, most of those younger kids starting getting better than me and beating me in these competitions!

  • 9,000th view

    nice :)

  • class im not very gwd at flatland just high shit jumps and sm air flatland

  • quite good

    old as

should of hit the gapet quater pipe

  • Ramps were a separate competition. And I was awful at ramps lol!

  • We were doing tailwhips on the ground LONG before anyone had the balls to do one in the air lol!

  • old ass shit!!

  • almost as old as dirt itself lol!!

  • PS....I forgot to add......great music choice!!!

  • Thanks! Some of the kids I rode with used to laugh that I rode to "old" 50s music. I'm glad I did, for some reason it sounds better than 80s music does on a 25 year old video! I always liked to ride to "at the hop" because so many of my tricks involved hopping.

  • Yeah...I agree...Not that there was not some good music at the time.....but there is nothing wrong with using classics. I havent been to very many modern BMX or Skate contests.....I'm almost afraid to hear what they are riding to LOL!!! I actually did see a newer sk8 vid on here...where the guy was riding with Leonard Cohen music playing!!! I almost fainted!!!! It was about the greatest juxtaposition of two wonderful things since peanut butter and chocolate!!! LOL!!

  • Oh yeah alot of 80s music was cool. I have just noticed that it does not sound good being played in the background on these old videos. These 50s songs, for whatever reason come across much more clearly. I have one video of me riding to Dio and you can barely tell what it is!

  • Backwards Frame Stand!!!! Great!!!!!

    I Love It!!!!

God I miss the days before everyone could do tailspin airs and backflips LOL!!!

I could actually do a couple of the tricks the pros did LOL!!!

Of course nowadays Id probably break my leg trying to do just a normal frame stand......LOL But I guess that is what getting old does to ya... I broke my leg in my own house a few years ago falling on carpet LOL!!!!! I miss falling off of ramps and being able to get right back up! ah the good old days

  • I can watch old school freestyle all day long but only a few minutes of the new school stuff. It seems like most of their routines involve riding around in circles on the front tire. Granted it's hard to do but entertainment wise, there's not much variation to it. After a while it looks kinda silly.

  • The "new school" flatland guys have NOTHING on the old school pioneers!

  • New school is very technical. I think it is amazing and I have much respect for the new school style. The bad thing is it is beyond the capabilities of the average kid so very few people are good at it. The old style was easier and alot of kids did it. I think it was more entertaining too.

  • I used to be in absolute awe of this shit when I was 9...looking at it 25 years later I realize that guy looks to big to be on that bike...also the trix look lame...I guess we were simpler to amuse back then

  • Anyone who uses the statement " you're too big for that bike" is completely ignorant about BMX and has no business saying which tricks are lame and which are not.

  • You said it brother!

  • Are you kindding me? These tricks look lame? Try doing just one of them and you will have a new respect for it. Sure the stuff BMXers are doing today are totaly sick and far more advanced but it still very cool. I am 34 and still ridding BMX, I suck but its still great fun.

  • ok ok ok stop flamin me for cripes sake...I just meant ..when I was a kid I used to look at these guys and the tricks they did like they were god or something....now it doesnt look that way ...like you say bmx guys today make these dudes look like turds...I met a lot of these guys back in the day at bike expos like this and they were really cocky to me and my friends. but dave volker was really nice to us

  • Yeah i am sure there were some cases of the big head going on. I just respect their talent and I liked the era.

  • this isso cool

  • Comment removed

  • you're names Wesley?

  • Yup thats my name, Why do you know me?

  • No I don't know you or anything. I live in Ohio and my names Wesley that's all

  • awesome cherrypicker! diggin the 3/4 helmet.

  • i dont care what other people think but old school bmx is just simplely THE BEST ever

  • Awesome Video bro.. I used to ride

with Dizz Hicks Back in the day in Sacramento Cali..

I still ride but just don't blast the big airs..

    stick to ground...

    5 stars!!!!!!!!

  • Thanks!!! I always stuck to ground because I was terrible at ramps lol! Dizz Hicks was crazy!!!

  • LOVED the Miami Hopper!! One of my fav tricks off al the time, that and the double foot squeakers which im trying to learn!

  • That was a good one! I did not go all the way to the ground but stalled it for a few seconds! Not a good trick to do these days with 20+ year old tuffs lol!

  • Hehe...Im just affraid to take my hand off :(

Someone just told me that there were Miami Hoppers and there were Bar Endos, Im going with the Bar Endo, because then the pegs would hit the ground...

Im trying to learn the cherrypicker and the pedalpicker too, but then again im afraid to jump and then fall :(

  • we used to call that a one sided cowboy, also we gounded it so the bars hit the ground.

Nothing in this vid I didnt do myself in the mid 80's........... just a shame i sucked on the ramps :D

  • Im better now im just getting better on the rear wheel :D Just cant wait to learn some old school moves!

  • Do you remember a kid named George Svederski (sp?) who rode for Brunswick Bicycle, he rode a purple Redline RLII and killed all the AFA contests back in the day? Just curious. Ohio had tons of rippers...

  • Doesn't ring a bell. Its been a long time though, I have already been contacted by a few guys I forgot about!!

  • I actually remember when this was great. Thank god it got better.

  • Yes it certainly did get better! And much more difficult! But back then this stuff was new, especially in Ohio. Most people had never seen anything like this and I remember blowing peoples minds! A crowd favorite was bunny hopping over my friends seat while he balanced on the front wheel. The crowd would go nuts!! Some of these old tricks still impress too! The fact is you don't see anyone doing them anymore, its almost a lost art.

  • Sweet Video Dude.

    Ross

  • Awesome vid dude. Great tricks and music.

  • Thanks dude. Yeah I used to get some mixed reactions with the music, but the only 80s music I liked at the time was metal like Slayer and WASP. Not good music to ride to IMO.
