For those still playing the game i have an EXTREMELY easy way to beat this on hard or brutal. you dont need any colossus. If anyone is interested just hit me on my inbox or reply to this ill tell you my technique i used. Probably the same technique blizzard wants to use, coz its pretty simple. Im just not in the mood to to do a video tutorial on it. BTW you can actually get ALL the missions complete in this stage

man that was a easy mission... even first time i did that(and it was Brutal) i got all the achievements. JUst focus on hard hitting units. Mass colossi, or mass carrier and void ray. Or simply the common High templar, Archons and stalkers

I must say, storywise, this mission is epic. In gameplay, it looks incredibly annoying.

Those thrice-cursed Hybrid monsters are pretty damn tough, and they take a lot to drop. Still, the Protoss kill hundreds of them, and thousands of Zerg.

That's the way I'd want to go out: Take as many of the bastards with me as possible in a heroic last stand.

@o652300 if you have a moblile army you can defend it until it is exausted pretty easy. make a cannon wall n once you see them about to mass that one spot, send army n hit with cannons. it is a risk and may not be worth it in your opinion. Remember, only that one spot attacks the expo

best easy start is to build a wall of "hold position"ed dark templars wherever the zerg is about to attack, they dont get detector until late

Lol. I can do this mission easily on brutal, but with this tactic I failed very fast. I dont know if they have changed something, but I tried it now and it just failed. Thing is that your air is dead if you are not very carefull.

Why don't you get shield upgrades? Not only do they help the shields on your ground units AND air units, but they also help the shields of your buildings. So that extra 75 gas/minerals is worth it.

I've heard alot of different strategies, but the best one thus far I think, to kill the most enemies is to do as Psy says and have the upper areas bristling with cannons. For ground units, use zealots, colossi and immortals. For air units, use phoenixes and void rays. Carriers are useful, but not necessary.

Like Psy said as well, keep the upgrades coming. There's also an expansion on the upper left corner of the screen, good for more minerals, but it's not necessary.

Just keep killing.

in this mission you face all strong anti-ground units and very few units that do well against air, you can mass void rays/carriers with ~20 or so phoenixes for lots of grav beams, and you'll get an easy win with proper management but it requires more micro so eh.

Just save before every wave and if you do badly reload to it, it's not random or anything they always attack in the same place.

hey thank you for that !! i tried dt block, mass void rays and anything, but this really worked!! thank you so much, even did the +750 kill achievment on brutal and lost like 8 collossus, but after the 25 min i went to the upper base and built any canons, mass coloss and put the units to the front upside. from thereon it was easy, just let them fight and play with the pheenix special attack. thank you !

Another thing you can do is lining up Dark Templar along all the 3 bridges and let them hold position so they cant get through. Let the air units fight mutas and broodlords. Until they get detection you'll be fine ;) Meanwhile go for Mass Carrier, thats how I beat the mission :)

This isn't a replay. You can't save a replay of the campaign, you have to use fraps or gamecam or some other recording program while you play.

That looked like what i used when doing this mission.... There are a few differences though, like i had a 4gate to tank some damage (always having like 4 zealots/ 2 archons at front) also i did shields first so i kept ~all of my colossus at full hp with some micro. Less air units sticking to only phoenix thus more colossus and different canon placement, well by diferent i meant like i left some spaces for my probe to rebuild them if lost). And yeah thats pretty much it...

This is very do-able with this strat. I tried it and beat it with over 3k kills. The cannons and upgrades REALLY help. If you can survive at 2k kills with a small amount of colossus and cannons then it's a peice of cake from there if you move back to the choke in your base and wait for the lings and weak units to flood in.
