  • So how many of you don't recognize Pat Smear from his first band?

  • Sorry Foo Fans but their first record is their only good one

  • @theenigmajjames Your a deusche and should honestly kill yourself!!!

  • Smear stage presence was definently the best of all the guitarists they've had. Yes smears back but he's not like he used to be... and Dave is the only one that's doing more than just stand there now

  • I still have this on video tape from when they played it on MTV back in 97! They totally need to release this.

  • @yvonneisyvonne really? wow i would love to see it, would you upload it?

  • @EFRANEED I'd love to, but I have no idea how to go about doing this from VHS!

  • @yvonneisyvonne well yeah its not easy, i know how but i dont live in us, damnit, well atleast i know you have it, if you someday take it off from VHS, please tell me! lol ok bye

  • They need to release the Brixton DVD

  • Why is it they never play this song live anymore... wtf

  • my very first album with rock/metal... awesome... this song made me feel the great oblivion of growing up as a boy

  • This concert reminds me the "Reading Festival" from nirvana, looks like the same crazy dancing man on the reading festival of nirvana at: 0:50

  • @pacomisterio Long live Jason

  • Loved Exhausted!!!!!!!

  • Brixton best live concert of Foo Fighters! Period...where can i buy the Blu Ray disc? Please answer!

  • i wish they play this song more often it's totally underrated!!!!!

  • best chord progression in history

  • @Kingddd333

Yes. Also sounds a lot like Burzum's Filosfem with Darkthrone's "In the Shadow of the Horns" drum patterns. Dave is a big black metal fan.

  • seeing these foos where it was more punky it would have been an awesome show. i love em now but then it would have been insanity

  • this song is perfect, now to just insert the sex scene.

  • Is the moaning in the feedback break the bass?

  • Nobody knows the amp settings/effects used by Dave on his guitar? It sounds like an overdrive to me but I'm not that sure...

  • it scared the shit out of me when i noticed dave kneeling infront of his amps, cause it looked just like something kurt would do at the end of shows. :,(

  • @MLplayer78 think the same :/

  • Awesome, best FF song ever!!!!!!!!!

  • This must have been an amazing show! Wish I was there!

  • I Miss you Ashley

  • Foo Fighters sound a bit like Lady Gaga

  • @Lshsjdsal dude?!?!?!?!?

  • @Lshsjdsal You aare joking ... right? If you enjoy listening to Lady Gaga (fuckup) then I can understand I suppose, you must be tone deaf.

  • @Lshsjdsal I feel bad for you...

  • Its like Daves body held his and Kirts spirit together during this preformance. Woo...

  • One M0:00re time!!! :)

  • this performance was beyond amazing. fucking love this

  • Wow I love the color of that stage, really inspiring

  • anyone know where i can download/buy or whatever i just want to have this

  • @Diaz126025

It's the Foo's first record, with the picture of a ray gun on the cover. Get it at a store, it's totally worth it. It's easily FF's best even with the new record out.

  • @scartissue94 no man (im a huge foo fan, i have that album) i meant the concert, which i found

  • Best FooFighters song.

  • I love Nirvana. I rather Nirvana than the Foo Fighters. But this song is better than any Nirvana song ever written.

  • I hope theyre new album is as heavy as the first one, the first album is by far the best and they need to go back to theyre old roots. Long Live Foo

  • the foo fighters need to find their more rough sounding and experimental side that they had in the beginning!

  • Man the FF first album was the BEST. I remember buying it on cassette right when it came out a year after Kurt died. I also remember Hot Topic selling the Foo Fighters poster from this era, it had the pic from the inside of this album where the band is all smiling.

  • pro

  • Can't wait for their new album.

  • Hm, I can see this as a Nirvana song.

After all this is off the first Foo album, where Dave played all the instruments.

I can imagine Dave and Kurt harmonizing in this song. :)

  • You can see the difference of actitude between taylor and the old drummer (Cant remember the name right now, help might be appreciated), this guy is like "kk i ended the song now pay me", no offence, but taylor has an influence at least in the band + his Ass kicker way of playing.

  • @drastikas55 William Goldsmith

  • @JCooltin Thx, didnt wanted to google it.

  • at 6:24 starts the best part!

  • this is like a trailer caliber, song simply epic

  • 5 people were too exhausted to push the 'like' button..

  • i get goose skin with this song, the part in the middle sounds like my brain

  • 6:28 chills!

  • Head on him!

  • Kurt liked this song ALOT!

  • @VivaROBBEN I like this song ALOT!

  • my favourite foo fighters song, i once drove from glasgow to london with this on repeat & loved every second of it!!!

  • Amazing performance!!

I would've wanted to see them at this time period the most.

  • I agree

  • my Anthem

  • "this song's called Exhausted.... its dedicated to Built to Spill"

  • More feedback! More feedback! Love that old school foo!

  • if kurt hadn't killed himself i think kurt and dave could've been like lennon and mcartney

  • @zeppelincheetah ya know you have a helluva point there..

  • @zeppelincheetah they not could've been, but have been. :)

  • @zeppelincheetah If you count their life status they kinda' are like Lennon and McCartney: One's dead and one is in a new spotlight :/

  • @zeppelincheetah

I always thought that! Kurt actually wanted Dave to write more songs because he's heard this song and Alone + easy target. It would've been like Kurt as Lennon and Dave as a combo between Harrison and McCartney or something.

  • @zeppelincheetah If Kurt hadn't killed himself there wouldn't be Foo Fighters.... D:

  • @HideFromFacebook foo's would've still existed in some form, nirvana would've broken up anyway...

  • 6:20.

  • this is probably the grungiest song they ever did, their debut album "foo fighters" was by far their grungiest album, if not the only one

  • hell yeah... I love this album... and every single song in it. I agree, it's by far their grungiest album, and their grungiest song. The other albums are great and I like them a lot too, but my love for grunge is way bigger.

  • This is like my fave Foo Fighter song

    Long Live Grunge

  • I was there 25 nov 95, one of the best gigs ive ever been to. long may grunge rock live!!! Nirvana, Dinosaur Jr, Pixies, early Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam. Its the best music in the world, unlike all that rap chart bollocks and middle of the road shit thats around at the moment! beyonce? Bebollocksce!

  • This was on the fifteenth of November 1995. Not the 25th.

  • Kurt liked exhausted ALOT!

  • Dicen que es post-grunge.. Pero para mi esto es grunge.. Nada totalmente normalizado, nada identico a otro tema..

  • God I wish Rock music was more like this today...ANGST RIDDEN GRUNGE!!!

  • Shut up. All rock music being ANGST RIDDEN GRUNGE would get real old real fast.

  • Yeah yeah..Let me guess..your one of those cocksmoking cunts who drive around blaring 50 cent in your car like your someone special..I can't help but laugh at you and people of your kind..You dont know a fucking thing about what real music is...it's people of your kind you out to be out in a ditch and have boulders dropped on you..now go back to your moms trailer in your small room and look up some more porn cuz your a sad individual..Have a nice day your highness lol

  • Uhh lawl, no. I love "Exhausted". I love early Foo Fighters.

I'm just saying - the way out of the shithole that is modern music is NOT just reverting to the past.

  • ok man u got a point we just need to get rid of the modern day shit..somehow anyway!!

  • Is it just me, or have you not taken in what he's said?

If all music was grunge music would be boring.

Alt rock would disappear and all of other rock's beautiful forms. :')

  • hahaha youre fucking stupid.

  • feedbacks fest! grunge-y!

  • God, I taped this from MTV, and used to watch it all the time. I can't believe that was '95.

  • grohl's writing style is very simple and beatlesque. you can certainly hear the george harrison influence on this one. i guess a lot of the foos' debut album was very much influenced by harrison.

  • harrison was his favourite beatle.

...oh, george is in honor of him.

  • are you kidding me? pat smears is the man!

  • Yeah Pat Gears is the man just like me!

  • CLASSIC FOO'S

  • altisimo puto tema... uno de los mejores d los foo... lastima el negro pelotudo q siempre la caga...

  • Pat Smear ftw

  • hehehe...rubber suit and all! :)

  • Love this song

  • "dedicated to built to spill"...dig it :)

  • does anyone know where i can get this whole concert in good quality online? iv had a brief search of the torrent sites but not a lot of luck

  • This song is amazing in live !

i love the old foo fighters songs :)

    My favorite

  • @thewarriors59 I agree. I think everyone should own the first Foo Fighters record.

  • @FamilymanDisaster every store you walk into should have a man at the front asking everyone who walks in, "Have your copy yet?"

  • @thewarriors59 my favorite album

  • daves playing an explorer

  • Pat "The CatWoman" Smears!!!

    Good old Foo Fighers rocks!!!

  • that's not an sg there...what is dave playing?

  • explorer

  • its actaully X-plorer now lol

  • lol ,xD

  • I think this performance is by far the best rendition of this song, this fuckin rocks!

  • who is playin the drums here??? first album rocks!!

  • william goldsmith...did not play on first record, though (icydk)...agreed first record was rockin...best imo

  • dedicated to built to spill... :)

  • kurt really liked this song along with alone and a easy target but he was to scared to ask dave to change the lyrics to his liking. great song

  • EccentricRichard, I may be misunderstanding you, but... no early demo featuring Krist on bass has ever surfaced. Those old demos of Mountain of You, Exhausted, Gas Chamber, A+ET, etc. were recorded at the Laundry Room with Barrett with Dave on all instruments. As you said, there are song demos featuring Krist on bass (and an early Feb. Stars w/ Krist on accordian) but not a single one of those songs has surfaced.

How I Miss You features Lisa on bass and Mikey Dees on guitar.

  • This is how rock should sound like

  • i love the reverb and pick up static in the middle :D

  • I was about 23 when I went to this consert. I was living with my dad which he lives in London.

My friends got tickets to Foos at Brixton and they were kickin' ass!

  • are you english? lol

  • Really like this song, songs great live too.

  • their first drummer was amazing. this album was awesome. the rest was shit!

  • my friend you are shit

  • I love the 90's

  • I love the 90's

  • This song was tossed around by Dave in 1993. Kurt loved it so much that he wanted to use the guitar riff and put in his own lyrics in this song. But Kurt didn't bring it up at the time because ehe didn't want to step on Dave's toes. Dave said later on he would have had no problem letting Kurt change the lyrics.

  • I think that this is one of the greatest and most under-rated guitar riffs of all time... anyone care to disagree? Well, then, step out and let's see what colour your guts are! :-P

Also, anyone else think that solo reminds them of the Stone Roses? It also sounds somewhat Nirvana-ish, but still...

  • agreed...underrated...this song is only 3 or 4 chords and is pretty easy to play (except for the solo, which i haven't gotten down yet)

  • Foos had two great albums in the 90s. Their self-titled and The Colour and the Shape.

  • They had 4 great albums in the 90s - the Pocketwatch tape (well, I call it a Foos album in the same way that "Foo Fighters" is) and There Is Nothing Left To Lose...

  • Pat smear is so cute with his outfit. hahaha.

I love this song. I wish they played it more!

  • A lot of confusion about this song.

The song goes back to at least 1993. A solo version Dave recorded with Barrett Jones surfaced even before the first Foo album was released. Krist did not play bass on that one. He played bass for Daver at the Lang session a year later, but that version has never surfaced.

No, Krist did not play bass on any single part of the first Foo Fighbters album.

  • u have gotta up load the whole show!! please!!

  • this is amazing.....its so good at the feedback bit

  • seems that dave is really into the feedback since he uses it a lot (and which is interesting tool)

  • do you know what type of pedal he used in the 1995 era

  • i have no flippin clue :D i play acoustic guitar and am just getting started on electric and the accessories...i noticed in a lot of his music, dave uses feedback (reminiscent of nirvana) and thought it an interesting spin

  • proco rat :P

  • i dont give a crap anymore i like slipknot now

  • Slipknot? Oh FFS. A few good songs, and Clown has come closer perhaps than anyone else to stealing Dave Grohl's crown as The Nicest Guy In Rock, but the albums are weak and the live performances a let-down... they're no equal for the mighty Foos!

  • No one can steal Dave Grohl's Crown, he is also god you know.

  • sounds like an early whammy pedal, not sure what make, and perhaps a little bit of a phaser pedal

  • Its a Boss Flanger

  • sounds like you know what you're talking bout but i slightly distrust because of your name

  • LOL! You can trust me, im arguably the biggest FX pedal nerd in the Uk

  • good to know theres a nerd in our midsts :)

  • The live version is the best

  • Dave is so young

  • Man, this song goes into your brain and stays there. This performance is fucking awesome. Pat Smear is a monster on the guitar :)

  • man i wish they still played this at their concerts

  • The intro makes me cry :')

  • This may be the best song from the album!

    Real head-banging song

Plus: I like their old music. Very experimental.

  • やっぱこれが一番いい。

  • i agree

  • 最高だよねー。

  • No, not true. Show me one credible source for that and I'll believe you. Also, there is no "different version of the first FF record". You are referring to Pocketwatch, which was already released in 1992 on cassete, and consisted of recordings made in 1990 and 1991. Geez.. you have the internet to your disposal. Use it to get your facts straight!

  • Nope - there is a different version around. Check out a user called FrankNirvana - he's uploaded that old album of demos...

  • offthewall85, where the hell did you get that information from? it's just not true. EVERYTHING on the first foo fighters album was played by dave himself, EXCEPT for one guitar part on the song x-static that greg dulli plays. krist did record an early version of exhausted with dave when kurt failed to show up to a nirvana recording session in early 1994, but it has never been released.

  • Krist also played bass on "alone + easy target" for that record. Dave also released a different version of the first FF record, with songs from the last Nirvana recording at Robert Lang studios in 1994, songs like Milk and Winnebago, but only limited copies.

  • Nope - Krist played on the early demo of that song, and Dave's sister Lisa played bass on How I Miss You, but Dave re-recorded all the songs for the Foos record...

  • It is around, though... check out a user called franknirvana, he's uploaded all those old demos onto YouTube...

  • william goldsmith > taylor hawkins

  • Kurt Cobbain loved this song - it was written before he died and Dave played it for him. They were talking about using it Nirvana

  • It's a Gibson Explorer..

  • What kind of guitar does Dave have in this video?

  • Dave and Krist recorded this song together, although its listed on the record that Greg Dulli from the Afghan Whigs was the only help. I also know that Dave used a silver Gibson Les Paul on this record, but gutted it to make it look like a Matchbox racing car.

  • not to be rude but the song that greg dulli helped dave on was called x-static

  • There are a load of early (1992/3) demos for this album with a variety of bassists, including Krist, Dave and Dave's sister Lisa (on How I Miss You), but Dave re-recorded the whole lot on his own for the Foos record...

  • not to mention goldsmith on drums, taylor sucks

  • bullshit, taylor is way better than goldsmith
