@SombraLocs I run the system from anywhere between 5-15 minutes. I go by my refrigeration gauges and my vapor line temperature reading at the condensing unit. When the pressures stabilize and hold fairly steady and the vapor line temperature is steady (at whatever the reading may be) then I start with my wet-bulb entering air temp at a return-air register, followed by an outdoor ambient (dry-bulb) reading of the air temperature entering or crossing the condenser coil. Then I calculate superheat.
@vrejian I know everyone has been waiting for some Sub-Cooling instructions from me. As soon as I get out on a TXV system, I will shoot the videos. I have a call tomorrow for a leaker that I need to do a Nitrogen Leak Test on. It may be a TXV coil, so if it is, I will give a sub-cooling seminar. As long as I don't have to deal with thunderstorms, I will be shooting videos on the leak test, repair, pump-down and recharge procedure.
@katie1987xxx I once new a woman who liked to purge routinely. Sorry I forgot to mention to purge the lines. I guess I always assume that one as a "given" but then I must remember that a lot of do-it-yourselfers are watching these videos so that can try and fix things themselves. My hopes were that these videos would educate homeowners on what a proper job looks like and also lead them to my company site so they will call me.
Nice job with this video I have just learn how to do the superheat Properly.
Perhaps you can do a video also on sub cooling so I can get a better understanding.
Also if you can go over the two different ways to charge a unit on liquid side and suction side, and what type of units should I add Freon on the high side adding only liquid.
How long do you usually let the air conditioner run before you start taking these calculations?

I second that - would like to see a TXV system where you charge by sub cooling. Great videos.
