But that is not a option for me. any ideas? I still need to be able to reset it back to factory setting but I can fix the new files that cause this over and over and over. and i can get another computer. i dont know where to go from this point. if i fix it, it happens again with a new file. sorry for the long post
I have a bit of a problem and I need to know if I should even bother with doing any of these steps. I have a 5 year old lenovo vista. Iiv been getting blue screen ever sense I got it. I reset the computer back to factory settings form time to time. I still get the blue screen a lot, every time its a different file. Over and over I have my bf fix the error but it comes back. Because I reset it back to factory settings. His thoughts was to go to windows 7. That I need another copy of windows.
What would be the solutions for fixing BSOD STOP 0×00000124 Error?
Clean your RAM with a soft cloth.> Clean your registry and remove junk.> Update your drivers.> Processor overheating.> Remove recently installed software.> Change the cords of your hard disk.> Clean the disk by deleting temporary stuff.>
If you want to quickly fix this issue use system utility software RegInOut
@UnderTheBlackSunset There's a pause button and it is clear enough? Besides, the video is basically an outline on what to do and is not necessary seeing as all the info is in the description.
in my minidump file i have a lot of numbers although when I play a game and my screen goes black when i restart my pc windows(7) pops out the message of bsod and gives only one number of all those should i use that number??
@greyfox251 Seems like your mouse may be faulty, try switching it to another USB port or a PS/2 port if it's an older-mouse. If the BSOD still occurs, with your mouse being the problem then you'll have to buy a new mouse which are extremely cheap if you don't care for looks/extra buttons.
i tried to follow your directions but my minidump folder has a lock on it... im the administrator any help on how i can disable it? the cmd says access is denied... respond ASAP please
@Jecoholic03 Try running cmd prompt in administrator. You do this by bringing up CMD with a search in the start menu. If you searched for CMD "cmd.exe" should come up, right click on it and run as administrator.
@egoftcp1 sorry for the late reply. .try running the CMD as administrator and also make sure you have the right debugging tool either 32 or 64bit. .then follow the video instruction, hope it works and help u out. .
@bob10308 Did you go to your program files to make sure that's what the folder for the debugging tools is called? It has to be exact or else it won't work.
Hi mate. I've got several errors now lately. BSOD, Error crashes, freezing screen. I thought it first to be the HDD, and some system files, but now I'm not that sure anymore. I've got 2 HDD's in my case, one it made for only OS, and the last one is splitted into 2 for different storings. Now the 1 of theese "two" won't show up in "my coumputer".
Would this help me recover my PC as it once used to be?
@Pkmeg Sorry for the late replay - In the video it explains how to find what caused a BSOD through a dump file. A dump file is usually created when the computer experiences on unexpected error. Once you know what the problem is (whether it be drivers, program or hardware fail) you can do some googling to help find a way to fix it.
It seems your memory (RAM) is corrupted. Which basically means you have no other choice but to go out and purchase new RAM sticks. I'm sure if you went to your local electronic store for computer parts they can explain and help you with your RAM sticks. They run pretty cheap from $50 to $100.
@bradywilliamwudwud when i bought my pc, i didn't get any installation disc, so if i buy a disc and reinstall windows, will it solve all problems or will the bluescreen still be there?
If the blue screen is being caused by an error within the windows installation or perhaps a corrupted/conflicting driver then yes, reinstalling windows will help. But if the error is more hard ware side, as in a leak in the mother board of the RAM sticks have been damaged, then you'll need to replace those.
hi went through all steps fine but when i open cmd and type the part "kd -z C:???????????? ect" it comes up with " kd " is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. any suggestions?
i went through all the steps but when i got to the part where you enter the mindump info after the cmd debugging steps and i got an error message saying:
but i already figured a way around this and i found the problem, only thing is the problem is a legitimate system file that is either corrupted or accidentally deleted
the file that cause the trouble was : C:\Windows\System32\wininit.exe
and the problem is if it is deleted it will cause the BSoD, but if corrupted it'll do the same thing, and now there is my problem
Yes, you want to click continue to access it. This basically means you didn't have th power before to access the folder, now once you click continue you'll have access.
Where exactly does it say access denied? And what do you mean by "where you are supposed to open the minidump" are you trying to open it in CMD prompt or the log created afterwards?
@bradywilliamwudwud At the kd -z C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\ command, it says access denied when I enter the dump file name. I made sure I put the ".dmp" at the end as well, and like I said, I am the system's administrator. I am getting "win32 error 0n5"; I tried googling it, but I still am not sure what that means...
What is your main drive character? If you open Computer from the start menu, usually it's (C:) but they could be a different letter. And are you using Vista? It might be that the UAC is stopping you.
@bradywilliamwudwud No, I'm using Win7 64-bit. And yes, the main driver is (C:) I am really at wit's end. Last time I got a BSOD, it took me about 2 days to fix, via BIOS, but that was a long time ago and I don't recall how I did it, or even diagnosed it... Ugh.
@bradywilliamwudwud Yeah. I tried everything I could think of too. I just gave up and backed everything I have up, then wiped my OS, formatted my HDD, and hope everything that was affecting my computer before is gone.
Sorry that I couldn't help with that, It's hard sometimes when you've never encountered an error like that before lol. Anyways I do hope that reformatting will ultimately solve the BSOD error if it happens again try this out, it might work!
did u list all the codes in the description? i have kinda trouble seeing the codes on the video. If u did put it does each new number with another code means you spaced on a new line by pressing enter i do not want to screw up the codes spacing. If you did not post all the codes in the description do u mind posting them.l Thanks. your videos are easy to understand, im going to subscribe to you IT would be very nice if you make a tutorial on how to remove the bsod. This vid does work for win 7?
You did the tutorial all good right? You got through the CMD commands and you were left with a log at the end with information in it. Now I'm never had one with no image name or module name in it. If you did the steps correctly and got what I said it could be hard ware failing.
If there are more then 1 minidump that means you've crashed more then once. Everytime you crash the system creates a minidump holding the information of what program/hardware went wrong that caused the blue screen, just do the most recent minidump.
I cant find the program (debug) in program files.. what other name should I be looking ?? I check in install or remove programs its there as written on the video..
I have to dmp files but not in the same location as noted here.. I have it in (windows) folder not program files. I have the debug folder but in (windows) folder and minidmp files in the same folder (windows)
How do I run the CMD using this information.
My dmp files are mini 032910-01.dmp mini 040110-01.dmp
You're confused, yes the minidumps should be in the windows folder, under "Minidump. You need the debugging tools which installs in the Program Files, the link to it is in the description. Follow the video, it shows you how to open the command prompt and what codes you should use. If you need anymore help let me know!

@emmaphee
I managed to get over this issue.
when you are at .logopen c:\debuglog.txt type this instead: .logopen c:\user\your user name here\desktop\debuglog.txt
You should be fine. There is another way.. there is a program called Blue Screen View and it will read the dump file for you.

You could try repairing the W folder with a copy of the Windows disc. It could possibly be a virus as well. Go to this site virusscan.jotti (dot) org
Upload wininit.exe to the site, it'll check with like 15 other top virus scanners over the internet and it will let you know if it's infected.
