  • could you do a quick release mount review for this Scope?

  • Don't know if you talked about this before, but how were the bullet drop compensation markings during the run n' gun? Were they pretty spot on?

  • the question isnt what do you think about the scope, the question is why were you hanging out with that dumb shit homo nutnfancy?? You are way too cool for that douche..seriously

  • Nice review brother. What is your setup in this vid. I have just purchased a bushmaster patrolman m4a3. I like your setup a am looking to do something similiar. Could u give me advice? Like do I need a mount or does it come with one? Also I am putting a magpul rear flip up. Will I be able to use normal mounts to do this or will I need a special one? Also does the fixed front interfere with the scope? Get back if u can. Thanks

  • any thoughts on the green vs. red reticle choices?

  • I'm running the CMR1424 on a Rock River AR-15 that's outfitted with full ambidextrous controls. (I shoot rifle lefty, but pistol right handed-- go figure.)

In run&gun shooting the CMR works great and gives you the zoom range needed for 3-gun competition. It replaced the dual optic set-up I ran previously. You can see both set-ups on my channel if interested. Overall, I think the CMR is a great high-value option. Thanks for making me aware of it!

    All the best Sootch.

  • fucking hic

  • Hey Sootch,

I'm ready to get this scope for my Colt AR.... which mount do you recommend ?

    Thanks in advance ...

  • Did he call you Doodicle?

  • But....But it's NOT a thousand dollar scope, AND it's made in China!!!1! I really can't wait to get my CMR.

  • I've just ordered a Kel-Tec RFB Bullpup in .308. Also have a brand new DSA FAL in .308 as well. Will the Leatherwood CMR 1-4 X 24 hold up to the recoil of the .308?

  • @badman400 It will hold up. Nov. 10 Shotgun News, David Fortier wrote an article (Scoping your Black Rifle), talking about the CMR: "What sets this model apart from other scopes in its price class is it was designed from the ground up for a major European nation's counter-terrorist unit. So unlike its competition, it was actually designed for a Tier 1 unit and successfully passed their testing not only on carbines and DMRs but also GPMGs." You can find a copy of the article searching on-line.

  • you should try a leupold 2-7x33 VX-I series scope its about the same price are your leatherwood hi-lux

  • SOOTCH ! Looking forward to the AK review !!! Very much !!!

  • Thanks Sootch00 for this review. I stumbled across the scope a while back and it looked like a quality scope but but leery when I read it was made in abroad (China I think). This will be the next on my purchase list. Thanks again for the great review work.

  • Have you put this scope to use under low light conditions? I have one of these scopes and that I use for coyote hunting. During broad daylight, it is a fine scope and I love the reticle. However, under low light conditions such as dusk or night time with nothing but moon light I am disappointed. I think it is a good scope for the money, but I am going to have to move up to something with better optics for low light.

  • It looks good on the AR platform. I laugh at these guys that mount optics the size of the "Hubble Telescope" on top of a short barrel carbine thinking they are gonna hit a Fly on the Ass @ 800 yards.

  • hi sootch! got my CMR yesterday. Can't wait to try it on the range. Scope arrived 100% the only downside is the "manual" pages 3,4 & 5 is missing..I mean blank no printed information on it. Thanks again. I'll post again after I tested it.

  • hi sootch! got my CMR yesterday mounted it on my wilson combat. Everything seems 100% can't wait to test it on the range. Have little downside on the MANUAL pages 3,4 & 5 is missing..I mean "BLANK" no prints on it. Once I have tested it I'll leave comments again. Thanks again.

  • Hi Sootch. Just sent a vid response your way for the CMR scope. One of the main reasons that I considered the scope was because of your review. I gave you credit in the video and attached a link to this video as well. It's just part 1 of 4 but I should have part 2 uploaded this evening. Thanks for all the great video's my friend. I've really enjoyed them!

  • Hey man, thanks for the review. I think you've really helped me make up my mind to jump on this one. I've got a fixed 4X on my AK, but need something for close encounters and slight range in one (and I don't want to spend the same amount of money on my scope as I did on my rifle). This looks like it really fits the bill. Thanks for it.

  • hello sootch! got your reply via you tube & e-mail. Wow thats sounds great accurate that far I think it will be perfect for my wilson combat SS. Thanks for your help. Me and my brother in- law will surely get this CMR scope.

  • hi sootch! nice video review on CMR. I'm about to buy scope for my wilson combat super sniper when I saw your review. I have decided first on DMS 1 but now I'm inclined in buying the CMR. Just want to ask your opinion would you recommend me the CMR for my wilson combat SS? Your opinion is greatly appreciated. Thanks

  • @invinsible31 I really like this scope. It performed well in the TNP "Sledge Hammer" from 35 to 300yds. The Quality is great on these optics. I heard Millet was having QC issues FYI, but I haven't used one so can't really say either way.

  • @sootch00 how would this scope do at 15 yards??

  • @invinsible31 hi sootch! got my cmr 3days ago. Haven't got the chance to try it but it is already mounted on my SS wilson combat then later try it on my m1a scout squad. Only downside when it arrived pages 3,4 & 5 on the manual has no print out.."BLANK". Thanks again sootch..

  • 1:23 i see a fun slide in the bg :]

  • I am going to get this scope. I was going to get the Millet DMS but this video pretty much sold me. I think I will run my scope just a little bit more forward. I like the rear of scope at the charging handle since I was taught to shoot NTCH (nose to charging handle). Great review Sootch!

  • Thanks man, I'll probably get this one.

  • Hello Sootch: Great vid. and thanks. One question if you don't mind (more than one). Why didn't you use the ACOG? And what type of reticle does the CMR 1X4 have? I have an ACOG TA31F with the chevron and love it for all shooting from CQB to 300m. The chevron also acts as a quick range estimator it covers shoulder to shoulder at 300m. Have been thinking about a Millett DMS 1X4 but the CMR does indeed look interesting. Thanks again JT out.

  • @JTacp Don't get me wrong, the ACOG is a superior optic, but the CMR was capable of the Sledge Hammer and that says alot for a CQB scope at this price. I'm not shelving my ACOG, just pleased with the performance of the CMR. I think you'll find the CMR superior to the Millet DMS. The Glass on this scope is exceptional but I'd need to have more experience with the DMS to judge fairly. Thanks Bro~.

  • have you thought about putting this scope on your 10/22?

  • Thanks for the review Sootch! I have one otw...

  • Hi Sootch00, what a trip that must of been out to TNP!!. I am glad that you are posting a review on the scope. Did you feel the need for more power at 200 or 300 yds? was the 4x enough? thanks...will be looking to see how the new mount works out...

  • @excxflyr For longer ranges, 4x was doable but I would like to have had a little more magnification for the 300 yd shots... U.S. Military studies have shown that the overwhelming majority of contacts are within 100yds. Sniper teams are used for longer ranges of over 300 meters. The key to this type scope is hitting targets from 35 out to 300 yds. The lower magnification made that possible. It's all give and take. Higher mag optics would be bulkier and would make close shots hard to find.

  • Would this be usefull in say IPSC rifle or similar competitions?

  • AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I managed to view this without interruptions just like old times! Good to have you back!lol! I see a RockCrusher run and gun all the way up the trail to devils court house and then back down! Alright! On to something that makes sense! Mount the trigicon on the ar pistol and the buffalo scope on a regular ar! Genius!

    Peace!

  • 3:38 Hahaha "DUDE!"

  • @RealityIsUndeniable sootch not dude

  • Can you do a review with Mini-14 and this scope?

  • @enjoythewildUSA The CMR would be perfect for a Mini-14. You have all your 223 ballistics on the Leatherwood site. Great optic for the money. Thanks~

  • sootch00, oh man did I enjoy watching you perform at the TNP All Star shoot. You looked like you could shoot regularly with nutnfancy's crew. Really enjoyed that video. I am going to buy this CMR on your recommendation brother.

  • Great video, keep up the good work

  • Nice!!

  • Good post ops review.

  • The reason some people want a lighted reticle during the day (bright light) on a 1-4x scope is to use it at 1x for CQB like a red dot (think Aimpoint/Eotech). I'm not saying a person needs it, I'm just responding to your inquiry as to why someone would want that. I personally find the 1-4x scopes a lot slower for CQB (only the really expensive ones are truly 1x), but they are a great compromise for close and distance. I found your channel from nutns. I enjoy your reviews. Keep it up.

  • @Th3Kiddd1 I hate to say this, and I hope Nutn's not listening, but I actually found Nutn's channel from sootch's! haha Another great post sootch!

  • com

  • dot

  • swfa

  • just google the product and you will find another site that sells this @ 249.95

  • I love your videos. Thanks for taking the time to make them. Very informative and interesting.

  • Man Sootch00 I'm so jealous of the trip! Sounds like a blast. That scope looks amazing for the price. You think it would stand up to a .308 recoil on something like a DPMS?

  • great review sootch, I plan on picking up one of these for my AR

  • its ironic because i have a leathery wood

  • @ecollins92 eww.

  • @dfpjosh hahaha

  • Thanks for a post report on your scope. I have often said that if your are going to spend top dollar for a quality rifle, then buy quality optics to go with it. It's nice to know that there are some quality optics that don't break the bank. Thanks!

  • Great vid, and hereby a request to review your favourite tactical SHOES! :-)

  • Glad you posted this I was curious about it too. Thanks

  • I miss your old style videos that you did before :(

  • Sootch - thanx for the review.

I will be turnin the Stag into a RECCE rifle and was looking into scopes that will complement that build. I would like a little more than 4x. But for that price, WOW!

I was actually resigning myself to buy an EOTECH but I will be looking at this scope with all seriousness now. If you guys (U & NF) vouch for it, it's good to go for me too.

    cheers

  • do u think it will work on a ak101

  • what do u get when u cross a shotgun and a scope? A nummie! Dude relax Peace n' tanx for showing Canadians how ignorant u r. do get a thrill to kill? Ura douche (>..<)

  • Great vid Sootch. I have been lookin forward to seeing more about this scope for a while trying to make up my mind to get one. After seein you with it in the sledge hammer and your other vids (along with USNERDOC's) on this scope Im sold. thanks alot.

  • The guy wearing the beret with the French Foreign Legion Patch, was he really a Legionnaire?

The FFL is a very good fighting force, IMO.

  • which is better this scope or millett DMS1?

  • Sootch ... great vid ... you need to put together a run and gun range like Nutin's for us North Carolina boys ...

  • hey sootch , where is this scope made ? i try only to buy MADE IN THE U S A ...i know that it is not always possible to do so , but we need to do so as much as we can to support our nation ...thanks and God bless ...

  • @1mrgasgas1 Excellent point. Leupold in Oregon is first rate. Look at their AR line of scopes. Mark 4 MR/T, LR/T, ER/T if you need an illuminated reticle. Their custom shop also offers ballistically matched reticles and other services. They also offer a dual optic setup for both a tactical scope and DeltaPoint reflex sight.

  • well done.

  • Awesome video sootch! I see myself getting one of these on a quick detach mount in the near future.

  • Great information Sooch! Thanks for giving us this review and follow up about the Leatherwood/Hi-Lux CMR 1x4 scope!

  • Good one Sooch. Thanks

  • Hey Sootch..great vid! Would you consider this a decent hunting scope for a different calibered rifle other than an AR-15? I only ask because when looking through my latest Cabela's shooting catalog, they had scopes that looked to have their recticle suited for different calibers. Something I never really thought about. Thoughts?

  • @74Hobbes I wouldn't recommend a dedicated caliber scope since it is designed for a specific bullet weight.

  • @c0boy Thanks! I'm not really into scopes and rifles at the moment, but I always like to plan ahead. I didn't know that there were SOME scopes out there that was bullet weight specific. Now I know...thanks again!

  • @74Hobbes Many are calibrated for the 55 grain bullet, which is fine if you shoot 55 grain all the time. Adding a scope gives you the ability to hit targets a longer way out. At that point many AR shooters with opt for something heaver like 62, 69, 75 or 77 grain, if your rifles "likes" these heaver weight bullets. Just an FYI.

  • @c0boy which is usually determined by the "twist" of the barrel.

I'm researching at the moment to see what other grains beside 55 my Stag Arms with a 1/9 twist will shoot.

  • @1eye4revolution Very true, I did not want to bring twist rate into it right now. Some 1 in 9s can handle heaver weight and some can't. My DPMS has a 1 in 7 which does well with higher weight bullets. By a box of each weight and try, don't make the mistake of ordering in bulk until you know it will work. Have fun!

  • Nice scope, nice review. thumbs up.

  • I love it to and I bought it on your recommendation and have not regretted the decision. I am very satisfied with the quality and the build of this scope. Great post event discussion on this quality scope. BTW, you most definitely rocked the SH and the unexpected "Sootch run for the 300!".

  • I want one of these scopes on my ak-74.....if you say it's good, that is good enough for me sootch lol

  • I think I will have to give it a shot

  • I'm sold.

  • It's $274.99 now. Still a good price though.

  • @BothKindsofCool Still 249.95 at swfa(dot)com

  • What would make you want to use this scope over your trijicon acog? The acog is a very high quality scope that does the same thing as this way less expensive scope. I mean the acog is used my the military.

  • @Knightsarmamentlover lol i think you just answered your own question.

  • @Knightsarmamentlover I think you just answered your own question. "...does the same thing...way less expensive..." If I can speak for sootch for a moment, I think he can have a good performing scope for a back-up rifle without spending another arm and a leg, and if it gets banged up, it hurts less.

  • @Knightsarmamentlover Acogs are fixed-magnification sights. This scope is 1-4x24; an Acog could hardly do 'the same thing'. Also, having a military contract doesn't make a product the best.

  • nice review.

  • Heya Sootch

I'm one of those who asked/sort of complained about the illumination. I agree at 2x, 3x and 4x I'd rather use the black reticle.

thing is, on 1X setting I want it to perform like a quick "dot" sight, but the illumination (on my CMR at least) is too subdued to reliably fill that 1x "dot" sight role outdoors.

I still love it though and as a 1-4 scope it rocks, everyone who has peaked through it loves the quality/clarity

  • Great report!

  • what mounts are you getting?

  • Nice video man. You had mentioned that you didn't get the mount you wanted for the scope. What mount did you want? And the AK47 video you said you were gonna make. Is the AK yours? And if so what brand/make/year is it? Thank you. Again good video like always. 8) GO TNP!

  • might have to get 1
