  • Justin is showing us how to make our own fingerstyle patterns, these are good old days man

  • Hi Justin, thanks for your great lessons. Do you have any good picking patterns for 3/4 time?

  • @mwatto i know I'm not justin...but ur talking about a waltz, right? maybe do what he's doing in the beginning, except take away one of the beats. one two three, one two three..so u'd play the one on the first bar, then the five on the second bar, etc. etc. Start on that, then progress to more unorthodox fingerstyle techniques (i.e. combining picking with strumming) and make the notes smaller. maybe one-e-and-a-two, one-e-and-a-two. maybe accent on the one and the five/four. Hope this helps!

  • @FlyingBadman mexican fender.

    squiers weak

  • you are a great teacher, Justin. I've been a subscriber since 2007 (?). But I must admit, hearing an Open C chord for 10 minutes is driving me a little crazy.

  • @trentger1 Mix it up a bit! It doesn't really matter what chord you play, the idea is that you don't have to worry about chord changes on top of trying to get the right hand working. Anything with a fifth string root note works, so do some Am, some A, some Asus2/4, some Cadd9, some fifth string barre chords, some B7, A7, etc. Just don't try to switch around too much (that's something you should worry about after having mastered the fingerstyle pattern) while playing and you'll be fine.

  • Thanks Justin I need a lot of work in this very area, I would like to do more finger work like simon and garfunkel and james taylor, but I get easily frustrated and finger tired and sound sloppy .

  • Anyone who's just figuring this out, check out The Tallest Man On Earth. He has VERY interesting guitar bits and great songs altogether.

    Cheers!

  • Hey justin could you tell me what brand and gauge acoustic strings you use?

  • @FreddyD94 I use DR strings, 11's on this Maton Michael Fix Model, 12 or 13's on the Maton Messiah. I have a few types of DR and I don't recall which these are, phosphor bronze at a guess...

  • Justin, what colour is your telecaster? I love it :) I'm digging these lessons too, can't wait for the next one.

  • Your the best, the only thing I disagree is that this should have been later in the series once we have added melody and hammerons/pulloffs but then again your the teacher and I look forward to the next lesson. But in all this is why your the best I can make my own now instead of copying everyone else and creating cookie cutter travis style music. Thank you justin I look forward to more lessons. I might even buy your dvd for the extra 3 lessons

  • What guitar brand is that?

  • @ebm4584 It looks like a Maton, an Australian guitar maker. It looks like the "Australian" series that they produce as well. Which was a celebration of their use of Australian timbres in their guitars. Something unique for players abroad and at home alike!

  • @ebm4584 It's a custom-made Maton (Court Jester), there's more about it on the 'Guitar Gear' page on his website.

  • Wot's wiv the Wannabies Rugby add at the start Justin my man? Please consult with your mighty cameraman Jedi about supporting the team from his Motherand that ==>will<== win the cup.

  • "You've already seen already' hehe ; ) Great work Justin, thank you!

  • First I had klicked "I like it" and next I saw the movie. With Justin's lessons it is quite safe procedure.

  • Is this the same way Mark knopfler plays?, if it is....i am going to chuck my pick right away !..and how do you get the thumb to play a different pattern..i wish i could play it like you mate....its just not happening, i ve been trying for months now...still in the "experimenting" phase :D

    Your lessons are brilliant!

  • @92Pranav No.

  • Excellent!

  • This guy is really really good. What a fine man, he is!!

  • And this is EXACTLY why I find Justin the best tutor alive. You are even better then most teachers and this is the reason why: Your explaining goes that much more in depth (like with the beginner, intermediate courses you discuss every possible flaw). With these style modules you rather teach us a technique to work with than a bunch of random licks within that style. After your Blues course I could create blues solo's myself and after this I can create my own fingerstyle patterns. Thanks Justin!

  • thanks for that mate,

  • Justin, you're back man!!!!!!! :) Maybe its just me thats back xD anyways thanks for the new video bro

  • Master Sandercoe, is it possible for a mere mortal to play fingerstyle like Ewan Dobson from Canada, who has been making waves on Youtube and in the world of guitar lately? Thank you.

    Signed,

    humble student

  • @CleverDjembe it's only practice dude, and Ewan has done a load of it!!

  • @CleverDjembe U his agent?

  • @Raziel236

    HAHAHA, what? :D

  • @CleverDjembe Less Yak, more guitar practice.

  • @CleverDjembe What Ewan does is pick the same string with his thumb and his first finger in rapid succession!

  • angeles elliott smith!! :D :D

  • @nickdcc That song is insane! Elliott had some spaghetti fingers.

  • @nickdcc Yeah !! That would be so awesome :)

  • second
