    I would prune it back to the tips of the new shoots and the new growth will cover any remaining dead shoots. You can prune it back even further without doing any damage to the grass. It will bounce back.

  • @MickmanGardenCenter - I'll try pruning it back to the shoots and see how that looks. If need be I'll take it all the way down. Thanks for the advice!

  • I'm getting a late start on the landscaping this spring because I was out of the country for 6 weeks. My ornamental grass already has 8" green shoots. What should I do about pruning in this situation?
