You just told someone to watch Hype to understand better. I've seen that documentary and I distinctly remember one of the members of the band (I think it was Matt) SAY that The Gits were not grunge but a punk band in the era of grunge. YOU should watch Hype again and stop being so insulting. The Gits were awesome, so who cares what they were? .
I don't remember how I first heard The Gits, living in NYC in the 90s. It was a far way from Seattle. My friend Simone seemed to know EVERY punk band in the US, so I'm pretty sure I got a copy of their first album from her...we were blown away. I still am. I remember waiting for them to come to NYC, checking the Village Voice weekly. Then the news. The weight of it didn't sink in until I saw the Gits movie years later. How is it possible to miss someone this much you never got to meet?
@BitterAnger01 me too. You don't really see girl front woman who are a little rough around the edges. Im not saying it's bad to be pretty, but it just seems gone. I just hope other frontwoman will see this a make it part of their own style.
