@tgurl64 cuz it's hot as hell and everyones dehydrated and out of it. I've gone to coachella a few times (first was '99) and I won't go again no matter who plays
I actually listen to a lot of electronica and more experimental indie stuff. But that isn't really relevant to this I guess. Basically, Vampire Weekend reminds me a lot of this band called Dr. Dog who basically kicks their ass. I love indie pop as much as the next person, I just feel like Vampire Weekend is the Pitchfork flavor of the week. Let's just see how their follow-up fairs...
VW is decent, but the amount of hype baffles me considering how many similar bands there are that are just as good or are more creative. I guess that's how it goes. And man, the new Dr. Dog is great.
Yeah man people were apeshit for Gogol Bordello. I had a broken foot and I was still in the very front hah. Vampire was solid, but Portishead was the best.
but i do agree with person all the way in the bottom i mean all the crowd went to the DJ'S tents most of the time but gogol bordello was the shit everyone loved it !
i mean i was there for friday saturday and sunday and there were alot of people particcpating on recyling but not much for the concerts!:O
I was at the show - crowd was great for most acts. Daytime acts are always a little lower key. But if you think they were lame, you missed Santogold, MGMT, Flogging Molly and Gogol Bordello among many others. If you weren't there and are judging, um, jealous much?
It never ceases to amaze me how much ridicule there is on YouTube. I am from Arizona, and I thought it was still pretty hot throughout the day. At least they go there to show support, or see what all the hype is about. If you want to dance, dance. If you want to watch, watch. If you want to sing, sing. If you want to get fucked up, get fucked up. Point being, do what you want.
The crowd always seems to be bad at Coachella. I think the hot weather partly contributes to that. Still, it must have been really weird to play in front of people who don't even seem to be into the music.
that was so much fun...and the crowd did get into it. they are not overated whatsoever i went in there with high expectations and they definately lived up to the hype...
No, it's true. The crowds were pretty bad this year. I was there for Saturday 2007 and all of last weekend and everyone was uptight. The most awkward part is that I noticed a ton of performers looking at the crowd's responses in disbelief and/or laughing at it (Kraftwerk, Prince, early on in Roger Waters' set, Stephen Malkmus, even Justice when he first tried to get everyone's hands up). Crowd participation=fail.
from what i heard it was really unimpressive. yes this is all hype haha. i dont even think they'll put out anohter album. but i maybe wrong... theyre rich kids from the east coast i guess they have enough money.
I don´t know... when I saw the vocalist that day I honestly wanted to punch him, hated that preppy look. But, for some reason I like their music, which is all the more amazing considering I´ve been listening mostly thrash and power metal lately.

Good quality sound on this for a handycam!
Usually it's jut fuzz at gigs!

The reason for the better sound quality is that I use an external shotgun mic with a pad that knocks the sound down to prevent distortion

Just go to Coachella's website. Google "Coachella Music Festival" and follow the links to this last year's lineup.

seriously, it wasn't that hot. Saturday it was barely 95. Maybe since i come from Texas, i'm okay with it.
Vampire was okay, but didn't interest me enough to leave the beer tent.
teresaelectro 3 years ago
I have to agree. THis year was heaven compared to others. And nothing was really crowded so you never had to suffer through body heat.
MIA and Gogol were pretty much the only shows that I was crowded at.
