  • WHAT THE FUCK?! Men can get breast cancer? Thank you for this valuable information.

  • Your thoughts are an exact echo of mine. I have been laughing and shaking my head at these brainless sheep-like morons wearing pink all October. Just a cheap gimmick and I bet someone's making a lot of money out of it.

  • I don't know if anyone notices but I know with a group of guys my sister is friends with, they have those "boobies" bracelets to support awareness for breast cancer but, they don't have them for that fact! They have those because it says "boobies" ! Even my own friends who try to be "philosophical" who try to be so much more aware than anyone else have those bracelets for that very reason... Anyways, I completely agree with you Danielle.

  • I completely agree with this video!

  • my mom got breast cncer when i was about 11 or 12 (im 17 now) she told me " I WILL not let cancer beat me alex" the doctors gave her 6 months and she fought it as hard as she could and she is still alive god must be watching out for her.

  • I have a prostate cancer bracelet, it is blue and white, it's pretty! (I don't think that you usually hear the words "pretty" and "prostate" in the same sentence...?)

  • You're missing 2 points.. 1) Pancreatic cancer is not "as" palpable. 2) If people are ignorant/stupid enough to only feel aware of breast cancer does that mean that we should focus our resources in an "unwarare" direction of some other disease which will eventually lead to a dead end in which no one will get helped instead of focusing on this little thing that people are aware of and may be able to do something about. Just because you had an epiphany doesn't mean others will have one too.

  • "I don't know if you noticed, but men can have breast cancer as well." So true, my uncle on my moms side had breast cancer, and then on my dads side, I had a cousin who had testicular cancer. Love this video, should definitely have more views than what it has.

  • Frankly I think you're over thinking it a wee bit. They advertise what appeals to the general public, with slogans that have to do with boobies. While you see it as disguising, others will think of it at a successful business strategy. Because, while I do agree its fairly sad that this is the extent we must go to to be heard, I appreciate that at least the "false" (exaggerated) propaganda is getting attention for a positive cause. As long as its for a good cause, why complain?

  • @TaylorrAshh Because there are other deadly cancers and diseases with lower survival rates than breast cancer. Breast cancer causes approximately 10% all cancer related deaths in the US, but it has its own awareness movement that far and away outweighs the other cancers for the other 90%. Colon cancer kills about as many people but you don't see marathons and brown bracelets reminding people to get colonoscopies to save a much more vital organ. But breasts sell. How about just cancer awareness?

  • @TaylorrAshh I agree with this. Whoever came up with the pink ribbon and the pink everything was just plain smart. They wanted to mass market a cause that was important to them, and they quite successfully "branded" -if you will- the cause. Just because they are getting loads of attention and cooperation from people, thus raising more money for the cause, it doesn't mean they are evil for not promoting every other cause. They have successfully lowered the mortality rate for Breast Cancer. Great!

  • I thought this was incredibly interesting. I think she has a point.

  • I Loved your opinions on this! :)

  • why dan broke up with U???

  • awesome awesome video, danielle

  • You are brilliant.

  • Where have you gone btw ages since you made a vid

  • Great video! Loved the ideas.

Although it sounded like you were about to cry in the video...sorry about your voice!

  • @Sally- Thank you for enlightening me Sally about Breast Cancer in men.

  • When I first saw the title of this video, I thought it was going to be some heartless bullshit or some failed attempt at irony and I would end up hating it, then I watched the video and I was very impressed by how not bullshit/heartless/attempt-at-being-ironic this video was. Thumbs up, and I present you with an internetz!

  • Show Us Your Breasts !!!

  • Man can get Breast Cancer too? WTH! Really?

  • @hukiworld yes they can. Breast cancer is mostly affecting lymphatic glands in your "breast area" and those are present in every human being. surely it's not that common that men get breast cancer but it's possible. dunno why it's less common, I just know that lymphatic stuff.

  • @UncleArti it has to do with relative cellular activity. If I'm stating this correctly, the adipose (et al.) cells in female breast tissue are more active than in males. When a tumor metastasizes that's when it can break into the lymph system, which is bad because then it can spread elsewhere through the lymph system. Anyone can get cancer anywhere theoretically, it's a question of risk factors. (another ex: overeaters are more at risk for cancer in the GI tract). Yeah... Bio student out!

  • what happened to you? Busy at school? Well, at any rate, just sayin' I really enjoy your rants etc lol

  • Wow, I totally agree with you. I feel like it's just a big money maker for companies. Going around wearing a pink shirt or bracelet is going to do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to stop people from being diagnosed with it. I'd rather donate straight to an organization than buy something pink and act like I've actually made a difference.

  • the only thing you ever hear about these day's is breast cancer. and it's not like it's the hardest cancer to treat. what about pancreatic cancer that kills in months.

  • as i watched this video there was an ad for pink breast cancer gear

  • what about the idea of preventing breast cancer in the first place? hmmmm

  • I agree Danielle! Especially since everything seems to be about breast cancer now (and sometimes AIDS). What about September? How many people know that's LEUKEMIA awareness month? What about the lack of outrage over prostate cancer? What about that the disease that I HAVE, NO ONE HAS EVER HEARD OF? What about saving my arms and legs from CMT (the most common inherited neuropathy), so that I can still walk normally and button buttons easily at 30?

Plus, I hate the pink stereotype too. Blargh!

  • u havent done a video in a long time :(

  • @ Danielle

In this video you rant about how the way in which, as a society we talk about breast cancer is wrong...

Yes it's true that pink has, a kinda stigma attached to it from when we're kids

But contra to your suggestion I think it's a colour which doesn't feminise breast cancer but simply acts as a badge of support

As the red ribbon does for HIV & AIDS

I don't mean to be a angry squid here but the opinions you gave in this video and over thought about

THE FACT that people are drawn t

  • That's not true, I've seen campaingns about prostate cancer. For example the latest with Adam Levine.

  • @AtheistFoshizzle Geez, show a little sensitivity. It's highly personal, and something between Danielle and Dan -- not something between Danielle, Dan and the rest of the world.

  • .......

  • I think you might be overreacting a tad bit. It's meant to be harmless.

  • dude are we really ignorant when we wear I love boobies braclets really it just means we support breast cancer prevention dude

  • "um actually, i believe that one of the causes of breast cancer is deodorant... deodorant has aluminium in it, as we all know aluminium is metal and when you put deodorant on, your body absorbs that. then the metal goes into your blood stream or it would build up next to the breast and then causes cancer... and im not saying dont use deodorant and just smell like crap, im saying that you could use aluminium free deodorant!" :D ty

  • @Namitsukia the aluminium is from the anti-persperint which stop the smell and keeps it away deodarent just hides the smell if you want aluminium free deodarent that is natural and has no perservitaves try Lush's deodarent not the one for dudes cause I know your a girl and the closes one to us (I know where you live) is in anahiem at the Garden Walk they r sooo nice at that store they know my name hahahah.

  • oh my god the sound is way too loud! killing my eardrums!!!! Me and my cousin were going to buy the "save the tatas" shirts, does that really make us ignorant? come on now.

  • Where i'm from we have a full month for prostate cancer awareness :-)

I Agree with you btw. Just so you know :-)

  • My mom is fighting breast cancer. She is very strong and will fight through to the end.

  • @OnsotineFilms Bless your mom I will pray for her

  • why isn't dan the passionate about anything?

  • i like your defense of reason vs cultural and emotional stupidity

    :)

  • I do respect your opinions and i do believe that pink is a very stereotyped color, but also remember these campaigns are trying to help raise awareness of breast cancer. Actually, this past summer i attended Warped Tour and they had a I love Boobies booth, and were handing out free flyers with information about breast cancer and how you can check yourself for lumps. Rather than complaining more about how it is sexiest, be glad there are people out there who'd like to spread awareness.

  • remove the tatas! save the people!

  • My dad is a doctor, and he told my family about a wrist band that was for prostate cancer awareness. I dont recall what it said but I do remember that it was hilarious. If anyone knows what I am talking about feel free to reply! :)

  • @madasrabbits06 Ye, if you wear a blue wrist band you're for prostate cancer awareness, most people don't react to that though, since it's not as highly advertised.

  • @Calley07 Oh I know that already, but my dad told me about some wristband that had a pun on it... and i was trying to remember what it was. :P

  • Although I agree with you Danielle, you forgot to mention the amount of money that these foundations and fundraisers bring in to help woman. As a designer when Hot Topic come out with a wristband that say "I <3 Boobies" Someone is more likely to buy into that then into a more logical ad. All I'm saying is even though these campaigns are misguiding they are helping, even to some extent, and that is an undeniable fact, hope you read this. Either way all these trolls are taking your opinion out op

  • Danielle, I know you are busy with Dan and all, but do you have any clue as to when another video will appear on your channel? I miss you :(

  • are u crying? :(

  • its called movember - for men's health including prostate cancer.

my mom has breast cancer, my grandmother and two aunts have died from it in my famiy.

my first reaction to this video is that i got offended... but i see where your coming from after watching it a second time.

  • Comment removed

  • newzealand has movember, for prostate cancer.

and they represent it with the colour blue.

  • People don't get you, you're very smart. I like that.

  • I can't even put into words my love for this video. Actually, I guess I can put it into words: I agree.

  • Lmao. I'm in love with you. jk but thanks for not being an ignorant fucktard like a lot of people on YouTube are. Just discovered your channel, didn't know you had a separate one from Dan.

  • great view on the topic :)

my dad has prostate cancer, and september was prostate cancer awareness month

  • I couldn't agree more. The breast cancer events around my campus are completely ludicrous. My personal favorite, "Bling your bra". A close second, crude chalk drawings of naked women on the sidewalks. And of course, those godamn "Save second base" shirts.

  • ALSO. This month is prostate awareness month and they are using the colour blue to represent it. AND THE FACT THAT BLUE IS STEREOTYPICALLY USED TO REPRESENT THE MALE GENDER MAY BE THE REASON IT WAS CHOSEN. My stepdad is even partcipating in a fundraising event where he is growing a mustache this entire month. So I don't think you have the right to judge that people don't know what they are supporting when they wear funny shirts to raise awareness. Not everything needs to be so serious.

  • I don't think you are understanding the actual concept of breast cancer awareness month. Many cancers have different colours and ribbons attached to them. In fact many other diseases have colours and ribbons attached to them. Just google disease colour ribbons and you are sure to find some examples. Considering that the MAJORITY of people with breast cancer are woman and pink is associated with the female gender it is only natural that it is the colour that represents it.

  • @stockingzxo I agree pink does represent a majority but that doesn't mean people still can't support help for prostate cancer. Just because a girl had breast cancer she is:"Very brave" (yes lots of girls with breast cancer are) but if a man has prostate cancer no one even gives a shit

  • Every October for the past couple years, me and my friend always sit down and look at a breast cancer awareness thing around our school or work or whatever, and just wondered if anyone else ever realized that corprorations "promote breast cancer awareness" just because boobs are boobs... and well, to be blunt, tits sell.

  • I just find it interesting that almost no one realizes that cancer is a disease of civilization. Before the Europeans spread to primitive societies those societies didn't have cancer. Not until sugar was introduced actually. People should do some more homework, no one needs to be spending money, certainly not billions of dollars, on a research for a cure for a disease that can be prevented with a healthy diet.

  • @Gameboob All that sounds very interesting, however, it is not completely valid. Cancer can also be a genetic problem involved with mutations in cancer suppressing genes, and other factors.. so some people may in fact be predisposed to it. Environmental influence may definitely play a role in some cancers, but not all. I fully support cancer research and I do hope they find a cure for it being as it is a horrible disease which I feel no one deserves to experience.

  • @RobH0629 Don't dispute this without actually seeing the evidence. If anyone's interested they can look up Weston Price. Btw, the doctors that observed these cancer-free peoples were working in the 19th and early 20th centuries. There aren't many places left on earth that haven't been affected by western civilization.

  • @Gameboob Well, if that isn't a pretty ignorant statement on "western civilization," but I guess it's expected. I'm not going to waste my time doing research on an outdated and debunked study or dietary practice where you eat a meat, butter, raw milk diet --that's gotta be real healthy! But, I'm glad you included the fact that they were done nearly 100 years ago... hmm, maybe you need to stop beating a dead horse and do some research yourself. Get with the times maybe? :-)

  • @RobH0629 Lol, it's not outdated. Our bodies didn't change over the last 150 years, our diet did -- we added loads of sugar and processed foods. And if you think it's debunked you're reading the wrong science. And this is even more ignorant than anything I've said "...that's gotta be real healthy!" If you wouldn't ignore all the evidence that supports what I've said then you wouldn't have made such an ignorant remark. I'm living ahead of the times, I had liver for dinner =)

  • @Gameboob It was sarcasm, not ignorance. From what I saw at DiseaseProof, it seems like a type of practice which was NOT scientifically based or proven. So, where is the "right" science then? I was only saying you cannot deny the fact that cancer has a genetic component (although you will still deny it). And the fact that you said people shouldn't spend money on cancer research is ridiculous. It still occurs, so it should be researched. What's your argument for skin cancer? Bad diet?

  • @RobH0629 I know what I quoted was sarcastic, and that was the "ignorance" part. The observations of these doctors showed that these foods were indeed healthy. Anyways, I can't say one way or another about the genetics because although cancer is so prevalent in modern society and we think it's deeply rooted in our genes and what not, I shit you not, there have been hundreds of accounts of groups of people that never experienced cancer in their history, and the conclusion has been their diet.

  • You're stupid >> I followed you until you got to the whole, "They feel the need to save them cause they're appealing" shit. You moron. Breast cancer spreads, OBV. And we DO have them for a reason; Breast feeding >>

And about the whole, "Prostate Cancer doesnt get as much awareness" shit, its prob because prostate cancer is easier to get rid of than breast cancer.

    Fucking dumb bitch.

  • @BarelyBeatingDA She made some good points!!! If you don't agree you don't need to be such an asshole!!!

  • @BarelyBeatingDA She says "they" meaning ignorant people, people who only care about breast as a sexual body part and not a maternal one. Do you think people wearing "Save 2nd Base" shirts are thinking about feeding a new born baby? Doubt it. Don't be such an ass.

  • :O Save the tatas :P

  • Man Boob Cancer Month. I'd like to see that on a T-shirt. No really.

  • I think your video was inspirational and there was no hint of malice in it at all. You projected opinion without being too preachy and got across a very powerful, potent message. However, at the end when you said don't get breast cancer, that kind of negated it a little bit. I get that it was a little bit tongue and cheek but it took a fair a bit away from your inspiring message.

  • Thank you for 1:32 - 1:36. My grandfather died of breast cancer, something that people immediately question. I've been called a liar and I've had people laugh at me for insinuating it. It gives me hope that at least someone knows that men die of this terrible disease as well.

  • Comment removed

  • this is exactly what i was thinking about recently... 'save the boobs' because your boobs are more impt than you. sometimes i think the men back it because they love boobs.

  • There's no 'save the ta-tas' campaign in the UK- I'm really glad because if I saw a t-shirt with that on it I would be really quite angry.

  • You are totally right.

    Nothing to add.

    End of story.

  • I agree with you. About prostate cancer: it's a lot more common but people barely acknowledge its existence. Is it really that much more awkward to talk about saving their "jewels" than it is to talk about 'saving' the "ta-tas"? As a side-note -- What's really ridiculous is all the brands joining in as a campaign... whatever. They're misusing it to promote themselves - "Buy OUR CEREAL, and we'll donate next-to-nothing (but it is SOMETHING!) to breast-cancer-research!" (Real life example.)

  • I absolutely agree. People just love the idea they can 'make a difference' without actually educating themselves or doing anything.

  • btw my mom had breast cancer, nice going

  • If u had been on the breast cancer 3day walk with me and went into the rememberance tent with me you would have not even tried to go there with this topic. I cried for a really long time walking through thr and seeing so much sadness and pain and loss I'm a kid and I understand that. All of the pink and save the tatas isn't the real meaning behind this. Early detection is the key to saving lives. I know I've made a difference on the Youth Corps so I know how many people would agree with me.

  • Comment removed

  • @PlaidTeddyBears Oh, please. This is a pathetic reason. You've cried over a breast cancer walk and your mother had breast cancer so I have no room to speak?

You have no idea what my experiences with breast cancer are. Two of my aunts have DIED of breast cancer, my mother battled it for years when I was a young child, both of my grandmothers had it, and my cousin was diagnosed at 19 with it.

This is MY opinion on the way society sees breast cancer awareness.

  • @StrummingSally Go Youuuu Go Go Go Youuuuuuuu

  • @StrummingSally who gives a crap

  • @StrummingSally and with that you have beutiful eyes :P

  • @PlaidTeddyBears It has nothing to do with who cares more about breast cancer and who is affected more. You believe you are more entitled to speak against me on this topic because of your personal experiences? No, that has nothing to do with it.

If I believed ones opinions on the way corporations treat breast cancer awareness had anything to do with the emotional ties involved, I would have shared my own experiences in this video. I felt emotionally charged stories were unnecessary.

  • @StrummingSally WOAH!!! sally geez, spicy girl right there. lol

  • and i dont believe that the slogan 'save the tatas' is actually telling women to chose their breasts over their life. i believe it is used to encourage people to donate money to research to find an end to breast cancer.

but i do agree with you on the use of the color pink. but that issue can be applied to many different situations, not just breast cancer awareness month.

  • even though breast cancer awareness month doesn't cure breast cancer, it allows a community to ban together and to form an emotional connection with one another. although it may not provide immediate physical relief, it can create a mental relief for many people. you can get all the statistics you want from doctors and research, but mental comfort can be hard to find.

  • You were fed by a breast.

  • Dan said your Japanese. Are you Japanese? You dont look Japanese but then again i am not a Japanese observer. lol

  • yeah, i do think its funny how nobody cares about prostate cancer.

  • I am so glad you know how to use your voice.

Many people have the chance to talk to people and make the difference.

Theres so many people who are so popular in the internet.. internet is a monster, in a good way and in a bad way. But theese people have the chance, the oportunity to say something shocking, to make people hear them. I can't do that, you can and you know how to use it.

As a girl, totally agre about all you said

ps. Damn,I accidently deleted my coment three times, i am idiot.

  • Breast cancer is a lot less curable than Prostate cancer. That's why.

  • What happened to Vlogtober?

  • I'm applauding and I'm sad you can't see me.

    That was so beautiful Danielle.

    Please take some cough medicine.

  • i like what you said especially about prostate cancer cause there are so many other illnesses that should get just as much or even more attention than breast cancer. but maybe what they mean by 'saving the tatas' is they are trying not to find a cure for breast cancer [because mastectomies seems to be pretty successful] but rather trying to stop breast cancer before it starts?

  • Comment removed

  • There's a month dedicated to prostate cancer here. It's blue themed and there are bracelets and tshirts and ribbons :)

  • @lajoiedelavivre yet still, only a small percentage of the gained money will be sent to research D:

  • Ironically, when I saw this video, the ad to the right? Breast Cancer Gear with pink ribbons and such.

  • Never saw it before, how this campaign is sexist. but you're right, it's true. Thanks for the video Sally!

  • I couldn't help but laugh. While you were talking seriously about the colour pink, I noticed the ad beside your video is offering me 20% off breast cancer gear, including a shirt that says fight like a girl, and will give me a free pink bracelet with every purchase. Just so you know.

  • thank you so much for making this!

Last Sunday my dad was watching football. the players had pink ribbons on their helmets and balls. It pissed my mom off so bad and I didn't really get why. Now I understand.

And even with all this 'awareness' i just realized i know nothing about breast cancer. So i'm off to go do some research, and then I'm gonna check out more of your videos.

  • The Susan G Koman foundation doesn't even give a lot of the money they recive to cancer research, check guidestar to see the horrible truth about many "charities".

  • Hey! Don't know if you read Jezebel or if you've seen this elsewhere, but the S.C.A.R breast cancer awareness campaign in New York is totally different and really fascinating.

    Thought you might be interested.

  • I disagree with your point about ''saving the ta tas' apparel leading to people's breasts being removed. Wrists bands and tee-shirts with those logos usually promote breast examinations - tests that can diagnose breast cancer in its earliest stages and prevent surgical procedures entirely. I dunno Danielle, as a daughter of someone with breast cancer, this video just didn't sit well with me.

  • and you need to give the world the chance to raise awareness for other diseases. I do get the point about femininity entirely, it should be for both sexes, but maybe be a bit subtler about your views. the 'dont get breast cancer' actually really upset me and probably others!! even if it was a joke!!

  • ok this is a hard topic for me but I don't know if I fully understand your point. breast cancer awareness is all about early screening of breast cancer, to encourage women to check their breasts as often as possible, either at the doctors or by themselves. not all breast cancer leads to mastectomy, if it is caught early then mastectomy can be avoided and that is what awareness is about! if awareness wasnt there then there is a bigger chance that unchecked cancer will spread around the body!

  • Dude, you rock. It's funny though how the add next to this video has a picture of a girl wearing a shirt that says 'fight like a girl' in pink.

  • The ad on the side of this page is for 20% off breast cancer gear (FREE Pink bracelet with purchase!). Go figure.

  • There is a strong link between using chemical contraceptives and/or abortions and breast cancer. Gee, there is a surprise, women's bodies have a delicate chemical balance that if you mess with, you can cause problems like cancer. If people really cared about women, this is what they'd be telling them.

  • Comment removed

  • @mbevks A "strong link?" That's quite an exaggeration. In fact, most studies show there is no increased risk. It HAS been shown that women who have fewer children, or have children later in life, have an increased risk of developing breast cancer. It may be that women using contraceptives/having abortions are at a higher risk to do the fact that they're not having children early in their lives, and not due to the pill itself.

  • @mbevks If you're going to make a claim that outrageous, you'd better have hard proof to back you up.

  • well said, Danielle. I feel like Breast Cancer awareness has become kind of a joke. I mean, the money is going to research, but like you said in a response below, why not just donate all the money to research instead? I give you mad props for having the nerve to make this video

  • This reminds me of February is black history month. When I was a child in elementary school I could never understand how black history was more important then white history, native american history, asian history, etc.

Relating to October though, I think the BCAM campaign should definitely be more all encompassing. It's not about saving breasts but about saving lives.

  • Well, this is a depressing video

  • Wow! Seems we think the same way...

  • Can honestly say I don't get it... There are a lot of things in this world that are sexist... but this is one of the few ways it can possibly produce a positive effect. While it may not be the perfect means of curing breast cancer doesn't mean it isn't a step in the right direction. There are too many negative things to criticize too be wasting it on "BCAM".

  • I love your vids, but every time you make one it sounds like your trying to talk and hold your breath at the same time.

  • that is so true! I've never seen anything to do with saving men from prostate cancer but breast cancer awareness is EVERYWHERE

  • Guys can get Breast Cancer!?

    World = Rocked

  • Instead of complaining about how people have started fundrasiers/tried to raise awareness for breast cancer(regardless of how you feel about what colours they wear or what phrases they use) why not do your own fundraising for what you believe the world should be doing. A lot of the people that are so involved are those that have been affected, or know someone close to them who has been affected and everyone acts differently. No need for rude criticism and stereotypes because you don't like pink.

  • ^_^

  • Sounded like advising God against going on a diet - "Dear God, please don't lose your breasts!"

Good informative video and I agree that they've gone down the route of misinformation in an attempt to make it more marketable.

  • Seriously, it's really weird that there's a breast cancer awareness ad on this video.

  • @ducky447733 when i opened it i got a scaffolding business

  • I'm glad you brought this up Danielle. I'm presently in the 4th phase of prostate cancer and I can honestly say that it sucks probably just as bad as breast cancer. We really should do everything we can to prevent/cure all cancers.

  • I love how there's an ad for a breast cancer charity next to the video

  • Very good video. Thank you.

  • Eye opener

  • I love you for this -3

  • This was very interesting although a SCARY thumbnail showed up right after, and that thumbnail is staring at me while I type this comment. Anyways, yes, well done. I like your views.

  • For some reason, this video really upset me.

  • super agree.

  • I'm sick of guys making the joke "I love boobs therefore breast cancer is bad"

  • 1) September is prostate cancer awareness month I think.

    2) don't forget those stupid "I-3boobies" bracelets.

    3) my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer last year and she despises the color pink. Especially that shade. All these products come out this month in the color of breast cancer pink to spread awareness and raise money and my mom is always asking why can't she have a portion of her purchase donated to research without having to have a pink KitchenAid for the next couple of years. And al

  • Also, what I find even MORE ridiculous, is that LOTS of the money for finding cures for any diseases are not only spent on the research themselves, but, I have heard that money is used just to pay off copyrighted information! We could litterally cure cancer faster if we abolished copyright!

  • @ntcssj Abolish Copyright? No... as an artist I don't want someone ripping of something I spend a lot of time effort and money into making, and then running with it.

But what copyrighted information are they paying off? I never heard that and I do think its stupid. Sounds like what should be research into helping people has turned into a corporate sideshow.

  • thank you!!! I just said goodbye to my ta-tas on Tuesday to help get rid of my breast cancer. I think we need to do more raising money for research and treatment for those who cant afford it, not for awareness (especially when not given the full picture)

  • Whether or not breast cancer is the MOST commonly diagnosed disease or the leading killer of women is irrelevant. Relative to many other illnesses, breast cancer is very prevalent; a disease which, if caught early, can be cured and/or managed. Promoting breast cancer awareness encourages education, early detection, and research. While the "pink" stigmatization is not an entirely positive thing - it gives the movement a more cohesive identity and in our culture, that's what works.

  • That being said - I think you brought up a lot of great points! In a perfect world, we'd promote awareness of all diseases that affect everyone in a super effective non-stigmatized way... but that's not the world we live in right now.

  • Thank you.

  • last october i collected over 150 from various people in my neighborhood and donated it directly to research. 50 of that was my own money.

breast cancer awareness month is not horrible.

  • agreed, danielle! ;)

  • Hey you, Get better. You sound like you're not having fun because you sick.

  • i'm really proud of you for stating your opinion. whether or not people agree with you, i feel like i got something out of your video.
