I'm glad to know that it wasn'y only just me who appriciates this game and its music.
Most people I speak to says the game is very poor, but I believe it's one of the most involving to the player, like you can feel the main characters 1000 years of pain of losing everyone he ever loved, deep.
My friend and I just played through/beat this game recently. The game really has an outstanding soundtrack, and of course, the story was fantastic as well! It really makes you ponder... to be immortal...
I didn't really like this game at all. I hate how every battle it had forced you to look at like 5 different pans of your enemies before you could do anything (what I like to call the dragon warrior 8 phenomena). And I played it for awhile, and it seemed that there were only like a max of 4 different kinds of enemies in each 'stage' you were in. I thought the battle music was boring as hell, too. The only redeeming feature to the game, I think, was the dream sequences.
@HeavensMeat It wasn't that bad. I usually just look away or read an FAQ or a book or something, check my achievements as well or even reply to messages. I guess that's why it didn't bother me that much. There weren't only just 4 different kinds, it just seemed that way. A lot of jRPGs are like that anyway, only having six or seven, eight if we're lucky, different enemies in one area.
@DracXBelmont True, maybe it just seemed longer b/c of those awful enemy pans. Why should you try and replace one form of entertainment (book per your example) for something that's created for the purpose of entertaining you. It's just a dumb fucking setup/system and jrpgs really need to stop doing it. Same with glorified magic spells that take forever, or that whole running up before you hit someone thing. At least have a toggle on/off for it. Ogre Battle had it right.
My favorite JRPG of this generation so far that I've played. It actually felt like a mix of Final Fantasy and old school RPGs in general, with amazing music by Uematsu and nice story from Sakaguchi (with very memorable dream sequences that no one should skip). It's one of the few games where I actually felt some form of nostalgia while playing the game for the first time.
@SupraDarky Um....I skipped them. What? Those things were long, and I didn't see them as necessary. Well written, granted, but I don't like how the game practically forced them on you.
@VGKing the game didn't force them on you though. When I played this game I considered the game itself the filler between the dreams. lol Every single one was so interesting and insightful, that it really is a shame if you skipped them.
@TheBreadfan Yea, it kinda did. Remember when you were fighting the bald guy on the tank? The fire attack always kills you, no matter what. Of course there's a special piece of equipment that allows you to survive that, but you can only get it by painfully reading a completely unrelated dream sequence before somebody suddenly remembers the location. Same thing with the anti-stone thing for when you face the final boss.
@VGKing Is that really true? I was so completely overpowered in the later game that I never considered any one piece of equipment/resistance an essential for survival. Tactics usually prevail.
@TheBreadfan Tactics mean nothing when the enemy can one-hit kill you (especially when he will). I wasn't even that weak, I was right where the game expected me to be, in terms of character development.
@SupraDarky Bout the ONLY 2 complaints i had about it were the battles took forever later on, and there was somewhat of a lvl cap. Like you could only lvl up to a certain point before xp pretty much just stops. Other than that, a frickin awesome game!
I freaking LOVE this game.

Supra, I've got a question...
How many game consoles do you have?
I listened to uploads from games which only can be played on quite "old" ones.

This music makes me so nostalgic! I didn't think that could be done for a game that I only played a year or 2 ago.

This one reminds me of a song from some animated movie I saw long ago...I can't remember.
Thanks for sharing this, I love it.

@SupraDarky I have to agree. The dream sequences in particular are so beautifully written that it brought me to tears.
