What happens when something obstructs t he track, say one of those branches from the tree falls on to the track. Is there a system in place to stop the car?
British Columbia's SkyTrain (a rapid rail system) has track obstruction detection. It doesn't require a passenger to press the emergency button in order to stop the train for those purposes.
I love the idea, but what if I am the only one riding and Jack the Ripper gets in with me? I'd feel more comfortable in there with a German Shepard and a shot gun. (Yeah, before anyone asks, I'm in the U.S..)
thibaulthalpern: Actually you are right. I only drive a truck because I have horses. If I didn't have horses, I'd be retired by now and driving a nice little sports car!
I also ride public transportation, and I would be a bit apprehensive to be locked in a car with some of the "fine" people who gave shared the Metro tram with me.
White female protection, and no, I don't carry a gun. I was joking about that. Not angry either, just aware of reality. Houston's Metro puts plain clothed cops on the tram, and I've seen them in action when some guy decided to have his near violent, psychotic episode. Anyway, I like this PRT, I just wouldn't want to be locked in one with some kind of nut.
Unbelievable! I never knew something like this existed in West Virginia, alabama's clueless when it comes to mass transit, and here you guys are, well into the 21st Century with your transportation options.
It works great. It is intended to connect the Downtown campus with the Evansdale campus. Thus, if you live near to these two places (or to any of the 5 stations) it is fine. I personally would like to see more stations and that it would go all across Morgantown, but I guess that is not what it was built for.
@747K Let's be honest, it doesn't like to work all the time. It's severely flawed. Great idea, but terrible when you actually need it. It breaks down all the time; snow or bright sunshine. The system is terribly outdated. :( I despise the PRT
What has change on the PRT SYSTEM?

AH interesting. Then please carry an extra gun for me too. I need some of your angry white man protection. Thanks.

This was built in the 1970s as part of a federal transportation demonstration project.

Cool! They are planning this kind of transport in middle towns (+/- 100.000 people) in my country (The Netherlands) too! I think it's great!

Does this work? Does it take you where you want to go? Should it be expanded?

Where is this exactly? US (probably not)? What country, city and state? I would love to have something like this in Dallas, TX.
