I would be much happier with a hang glider i could land on wheels and be seated. THen i would be able to land at higher airspeed and compensate for sudden wind drops on landing. WHen landing on foot you have to touch down at slower air speeds.
I have been flying HG since 1963 and paragliding since 1993. The video was taken over a period of 25 years of video work. I have flown all over the world and all flying sites that I have flown at including Penn and Tenn. someone was either hurt or killed. By looking at a video that someone was making a mistake, you should have learned from that. You to will also crash someday. If someone crashes at your home site is this a representation of all of your fellow friend? Open your other eye.
I am a hang glider pilot who has been flying for 10 years from Pennsylvania to Tennessee and I've never anything like the number of blown launches and other mishaps in this video.
For the sake of the sport, the person who put it up should take it down.
I was thinking about flying trip up there to the Michigan lake shore this summer, but if this video is representative of your safety record, and the cavalier attitude toward HG safety, I think I'll forget it.

People are always looking for new ways to cripple themselves. When I see someone lying in a field, twitching, crying, because they crashed their makeshift flying machine, I just keep right on going. I figure they asked for it, messing with nature and all.
But if it was you lying in the field, you would be the first one to cry for help, mabe you should have a little compassion for your fellow man.You missed the whole point of the video, i'ts a learning process.
I've got in the habit now of getting the glider held nose down, not lifting, before I yell clear. Then I wait till everyone's out of the way before I launch. I try never to use side men except to get me to the launch through the face rotor. I drop the nose, put it on the base bar and clear them off, keeping just the nose man for the last few feet to the edge. Instructing wuffos before using them as a wire man is also a pretty good idea! Oh, and a harness for the nose guy for cliffs!!!

1.04 one guy letting go of the right wing, the other still holding the left wing. That almost happened to me ones.

strong winds put both hands on the basebar before launch.

nose / wire man dragged off edge @2.00 !!
Commitment! make sure "all clear" before you commit to take off..?

wire mans sweatshirt got caught on base tube.

At 1:05 the yellow hat wireman didn't let go of the wire, most likely the yellow hat man wasn't a pilot, bad choice for a wireman...............

Tsc, tsc, tsc...
Este vídeo mostra quase tudo que não se deve fazer no voo livre: deixar qualquer um dar cabo, pousar com vento de calda, etc...
Um bom video para se mostrar para um aprendiz.

wow. thats some scary flying.
Jellolion1 3 years ago
why would you land tailwind in that situation? You have a nice long straight beach to land on. Did the pilot not look or was not aware?
