No documentary has the right to violate constitutional rights---research Bob Dylan's life---nah thats not what this video did it violated his basic human rights and those afforded american citizens by the constitution of the united states of america. It was cheap thrills for someone to make a buck off of. @littlesallysanctus Is this violating Bob Dylan when the clip comes from a Dylan documentary that was made in 1966? A documentary that Dylan participated in and edited by himself? If he was ashamed of it, it would never been released. You don't have to pull off some speech about "The Constitution of the US" about public footage. Btw, Constitution of the US has nothing to do with freedom or human rights, its just bureucratic hypocrisy, which maybe you need to understand yourself. Get a grip dude.

This is what I like to see! a peaceful resolution to a disagreement on YouTube haha. and one that started with hostility none the less. seems like a rare feat in the internet world.
so what some people are saying here is that you can only create good poetry or lyrics or whatever type of written art when you're stoned? well, guess what? I'm 13 years old and I've written 2 full notebooks of poetry that some may consider good and I have NEVER got drugs or alcohol helping me with that, so your way of thinking is completely irrational if you think you have to be on a dead consciosness state to produce some literature work.
What good are you as an artist if you can only create in an altered state of conciousness? True art that has any meaning or value (especially poetry) comes from deep, unaltered thought. How can you make any meaningful social commentary when you yourself can't hardly think straight? That's directed at the other people who've commented, not at Bob Dylan.
Good point, however, i think one could make this opposing argument. You could argue that use of alcohol or other drugs has the ability to clear the mind of petty, superficial, everyday thinking, allowing the writer to get into a mode of deeper thought. I don't condone or look down on people who may use drugs to write, I just think the only thing that matters is if the writing is good, it is good. It doesn't matter how you get there, it matters what you produce. The ends can justify the means.
Not all writing comes from deepness, it's not a big deal if you want to try something and you happen to like it and write about your experience, you yourself are being close minded many of the stuff I'm sure you listen to come from an inspiration of drugs
@twentymooseman art isn't defined as meaningful social commentary. poetry might be more of a sober art you know but music is a lot more aobut aesthetics. music isn't intellectual.
@nankerphelge718 Yeah, that whole comment was pretty badly worded on my part. The idea I was trying to get across was that doing drugs doesn't automatically make you a better artist, it requires some level of conscious effort. My whole idea of art is that it should express something about the human experience. Really, the more I write, the more i realize how stupid that first comment was. I guess my whole argument is invalid because art can't be clearly defined and really shouldnt be.
@twentymooseman True, drugs don't make people good artists. It just makes creativity easier. If you're a bad writer, you're still gonna be one when high or whatever, you're just gonna make MORE bad writing.
For SOME people drugs can help to "release" some creative energy by removing inhibition. But if the genius isn't inside already, drugs ain't gonna help.
