  • I have seen Ron's swing up close and I can assure you his ball flight is like that of Couples (who I have also watched up close) or any of the pros. With mid irons and wedges, the ball starts with a good deal of spin, climbs and sits down like a butterfly. Last week I saw Ron hitting with a left handed students wedge and he even gets the same compression, spin and trajectory hitting left handed. He's got skilz!

  • Are you the "tough guy" at The O.C. pilot ???

  • great, I just puked in my mouth. way to keep your eye on the flag instead of the ball. oh my is that aweful.

  • When watching rory mcilroy, or steve stricker, they both keep there heads down until they make contact. Why do you say to pull it up?

  • Why follow one handicapper, when for the same price you can follow hundreds??

  • I'll tell you a story about Ron, I was playing Whitsett where he gives lessons and I was on the 7th hole about to tee off and a ball travels over the driving range net onto a tree, down the branches directly on my head. I was bleeding but not bad. I finished the 9th hole walked to the driving range and see Ron swinging away with his driver. I didn't say anything to him but I knew he was the only one that could have hit it that far. Easily 300 yards. I should have asked for a free lesson, lol.

  • What an amazing swing, so effortless and smooth. I wish I could swing like that.

  • Hey is it me or does this man hit his 3 wood fat!

  • I really like the sound of this method, it makes alot of since. the thumbs up plane, passive hands and arms. But here is what gets me, your supposed to be so passive that when u stop the hands and arms will "drop". now how am i supposed to get the club head to the ball by "turning" i try and try again but with the same negitive results. (fat shots, shanks, rally big pulls) the more passive i feel, the harder the shank. any suggestions? thanks alot, and i would really like to get this down.

  • Loll he's not looking at the ball when he drive... bad swing man!!

  • I studied Ron's videos re. " passive golf " nothing short of bloody brilliant, I'm an 8 handicap player and it sure helped me a great deal. And of course there is no secret to this wonderful game but some of the best help has come from this man.

PASSIVE HANDS AND ARMS !! not only will you turn better, you will hit it further and have much better contact. By using this method for example I now hit my 8 iron an average of 150 yds. and my drives are @ 20 yds. longer, thanks, Ron !!

  • Too many videos regarding golf on You-Tube, the average golfer can't digest most of these " tips " as they have been made way too complicated. From the takeaway to finish takes approx. 7 seconds, how the Hell can anyone put into play so much in a process that takes only 7 seconds ?

This guy is good, in fact he's really good, his head moves,,,so what,,,but it didn't move up,,,and that's the key, I play off an 8 handicap, I'm 64 years old and golf is a never ending learning process, there's more.

  • At last - a system that works.

    Many thanks!

  • Ron, Your videos have helped alot. Is there any adjustments you'd recommend when attempting to hit a higher or lower traj.?

  • @briandwright007 I hope you don't mind me making this suggestion, next time you are at the practice range try adjusting the position of the ball in your stance. For the most part I play the majority of my iron shots with the ball in the middle of my stance. If I wish to hit the ball a bit higher I play it back in my stance and further up if I want to hit it lower with a sweeping motion.

Regardless of ball position the key is to make sure your hands are ahead of the ball when playing your irons

  • Hey people please check out my account for Amazing golf tips :)

  • I'm SO glad to see someone teaching this.... I've noticed for a while now that Pros seem to be moving their head thru the shot.... now, I understand what I've been seeing. I've never believed that you should 'keep your head down' per se.... I know it's hindered my game for years.

  • Hi Ron

I have great success with this method when hitting the irons (up to the 5)..

For long irons and the woods, I tend to hit the ground much more and the set up with ball in the middle of the stance feel really awkward. It feels like the clubhead will hit the ground first..before I have time to turn my shoulder..any suggestions - do I move the ball forward like regular setup ?...

    Thanks, Ken

  • believe it or not robert allenby, david duval and annika sorenstam all turn their head prior to making contact with the golf ball...

if you maintain your angles in the full swing seeing the ball is optional.

  • @naflack You are 100% right. That being said, it's a tough sell if you know what I mean?

    Regards,

    Ron

  • @RdbGolfTips I can't remember seeing the ball being struck by the clubhead,,,I really move my head and have done so for years. Your golf swing is one that I have really been impressed with and one that I have tried to copy.

I'm a senior and I play off an eight handicap my nemesis has ( and still is ) pull / snap hooking with the driver and hybrids. No question soft and passive hands / arms have helped more so than the money I have wasted with " teaching pros. " in my area, your tips are great !

  • Isn't he lifting his head up too early?? Or or that just me??

  • why he put the eyes on the field before hitting the ball?

  • @aqanco Hi aqanco,

If you go to the video slection menu and pick the "Eye Line" video, it will explain the importance of NOT being static and stationary on the downswing>

    Regards.

  • Superb - what an easy game this is! I just wish I could make my body do this consistently.

    More work needed!

  • Why do you move your head towards the target so quick? With all respect, that's an ugly swing there!

  • what does he mean by passivity?

  • That's stupid, i can hit a ball with my eyes closed at the range, but try knocking a pin while trying to manage the stress of a great game...keeping your head down is good for keeping your head still and to maintain a routine on every shot

  • Great vids Ron !

Hey, i know you like Annika's swing, yours is smoothing out like hers !

    Looks goood !

  • can you make a video of swings from a down the line angle? Do you try to keep your right elbow sort of tucked?

  • why is turning your head a no no? I havent sen it written in the golf rules book that you cant lift your head!!! If it works for you...do it. If it doesnt dont do it. Its simple.

BTW hope you make it to the SEC champ and beat Florida!! Boomer Sooner

  • I was mucking around at the range recently and found I was strking the ball brilliantly when I turned my head in the downswing. I quicky discarded this method though as I thought it couldn't be right - but look at Ron......hitting it like a man possessed and completely taking his eye off the ball!

I guess the moral is.....do what feels right for you. I am going to persevere with Ron's head turn.

  • looks like anikas

  • What a smooth swing. Great tempo.

  • I shot the video....the grass was very long - not a standard fairway.

  • The driver looked a little out of sync. I mean your head didnt turn like it did with the other clubs. IT stayed down a little longer. Im wondering how that shot looked in comparison to the others. Anyway, i appreciate this video very much. I have tried this on the range prior to seeing this video (because of annika) and have had success with it, but couldnt convince myself that it is a legitimate way to swing and stillscore well. Great Tempo!

  • That head turn is what all the Swedes do. I have to do it to get myself to swing through the ball, rather than hitting "at the ball".

It is hard to see in the video but his left arm does flex very slightly at the top of the take-away (like Goosen).

I have played golf with Ron several times and he never fails to come home under par... never! But he always wants me to give him strokes... punk!

  • yeah it def does look like that but what is really happening is his body including head or turning which is what you want... then your gonna think well how does he hit consistent like that. well his eyes move with the ball down the target line so even though his head and body is turning his eyes are watching where the ball is.

  • I try this and got great results, I'm sticking to this forever. Just one question is keeping the head behind the ball a myth? Because when I was trying this the only bad shoots that I hit where when I tried to keep the head behind, the best where when I just let everything go and not worry.

    Great method

  • lmao he's lifting his head harcore LOL.

  • Watch Annika Sorenstam

  • Your back swing video says not to keep the left arm straight yet every one of your swings on this video has a staight left arm.

  • his let are is not stiffing up or going straight it is still pretty flexible... if you have ever played baseball you know how loose ur arms have to be during the swing... but if you looked at video you would be shocked at how stiff they look, which is so opposite of how they feel. So yes a picture says a thousand words and most of them are untrue. naturally ur arm will go a little straight becuase of the force from your body rotation but should at all not be forced by ur arms and hands.

  • Id like to see what kind of ball flight you have. I belive this method might be great but im still sceptic. I wonder if therse a video in which we could see the result of the shots your making.

  • darsigny,

I know what you mean as far as seeing the ball flight and unfortunatly it's difficult to track a ball with the limited equipment I have for filming. However, if you live in the LA area, I would be glad to have you come down and take a peek!

    Thanks for your comment.

  • @darsigny Ron's ball flight looks just like Boo's or Freddie's, or any quality ball striker. I've seen them all up close and the look of a well compressed ball struck on the descending blow, in the sweet spot, always has the same quality flight. I've played golf with Ron and his shots are what the guys in Swingers would call "MONEY"!

  • ron, your method and tips are awesome, keep up the good videos!

  • Ron...do you rotate around your left heel ?? I like your method and will give it a try

  • With all shots that are being hit on the ground, I try and rotate around one fixed point. In other words, you can never really stay on your left leg throughout the swing, however, you can minimize the amount of lateral movement that we all over do by hitting balls with the right heel off of the ground which will allow a very small weight shift on the takeaway and encourage a cleaner rotational movement through the hitting area.

  • on his swing on most shots isnt he lifting his head far to early?

  • Actually, that is part of his method. Look for the video "Rotating the head & follow the eyeline" here on his profile. That will show you more about the head turn.
