  • Go Dennis! Great power pop! I remember seeing this when it aired and recording it to VHS and later converting it to DVD - R

  • Saw them live at Kean College, NJ a billion years ago. I remember it was a fantastic show. I really loved their sound....very melodic tunes yet catchy as hell. GREAT BAND!!!!!!!

  • Awesome. Period.

  • Wonderful song. Love the sound of the Ric360. Makes me smile!

  • Excellent

  • I d' like to see these guys in my country!

    I'm a brazillian fan since 2005!

    The Smithereens! come to Brazil!!!!

  • WE NEED THESE GUYS .

  • lol the singer is a weirdo

  • @AntiPsychopath Weirdo my ass.........

  • Love these guys... didn't hear them in the UK, never heard of them until recently. This track defo has a Byrd's sound to it, which can't be bad :) Long live the Rickenbacher - long live the sound of the Smithereens

  • Played his Telecaster friday night at the Canyon Club. Awesome sound. How do we rally to get these guys in the Rock and Roll hall of Fame!!! As good as REM at the very least

  • Jim Babjak...ruler of the Rickenbacher and master of the Telecaster!

  • @anne241 Amen! His solo at the end was really awesome and I get a kick out of how he laughs/grins after singing " love....during the chorus

  • Great band live. I Miss Mesaros!!

  • Unfortunately for all this is as close as they got. I had loved this band since a co-worker loaned me "Especially for You" the mid eighties. He was into odd bands like NRBQ and such so I didn;t think much of it until I listened to it. Wow! been a fan ever since. I feel bad that the band never attained much commercial success but am glad they as still at it albeit minus Mike. Rock ON!

  • I saw this show when it aired and ran out to buy Blow Up, their best CD. They were on top of their game. Now Pat's fat and the bass player quit.

  • @cagwa I met Pat recently around 2009 nicest guy in the world he still sounds great. Long live the Smithereens!

  • I still cant enough of these GREAT hooks. Completely and totally underrated. Oh well, thats rock but thank God fo YouTube. Love these guys!!!!

  • Oneof my all time favorite bands next to the kinks and Ramones!

  • I was in the green room for this show with Mike Mesaros. I just dropped in to say "Hi" before my own show in Hollywood that day. Mike is now playing house daddy in SF. Wish he was still playing w/ the band!

  • Great band and great guys!!!! See them live! Now!

  • Go Tex!!

  • One of the best bands in 30 years, rcoreded and live, songwriting, musicsions on and on...

  • I just saw them the other night. They still rock!

  • Hell, yeah! I miss Mike! A great band at the top of their live form!

  • Smithereens freaking rocked!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @djsmom93 THEY STILL DO ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Been a fan and friend of Pat's since 86/87. Great guy and great band.

  • uh I never was a fan of bruce but yeah it's sad but it's the truth, you do gotta admit smithereens kep rocking on and it looks like they will for a long time and it looks like they don't care about money or fame, just rocking out loud, now that's what I call a band.

  • Awesome.

I can't believe that faux-Okie, mewling hack Bruce Springsteen is a multimillionaire, yet there are people who've never heard of Pat DiNizio.

    It's tragic.

  • KNEEL BEFORE THE BOSS

o ye of little taste....bruce writes great lyrics that give people a sense of nosalgia. I like the guys...but if you could find Pat, even he would tell you SPRINGSTEEN RULZ

  • What's so great about nostalgia?

  • There are certain songs that bring back your youth.

Dude, I have all these guys albums..i saw them at the house of blues in July, but...Pat may be a better singer, but there is so much more depth to Sprinsteen.

Do me a favor, search for springsteen "youngstown" ...tell me the smithereens have EVER done anything that approaches that one song.

  • what is the deal w/ you cynics lol. they both have great songs. bruce has written some amazing songs-the lyrics to no surrender alone gives him merit. and the smithereens are great too! i love music period.....

  • This is awsome! I've never seen The Smithereens perform, live or otherwise as there is almost nothing of theirs available in Australia. Does anyone know where I can get DVD's, music books, etc.. of this great band? I have all their CD's, vinyl, but anything else is impossible to get! I think that if this band exsisted in the 1960's, they would have given The Beatles, Stones, etc.. a run for their money! LOVE THIS BAND!!

  • great performance ! love the `reens , fantastic band

  • The funny thing about Mike Mesaros.he never really poke in interviews, and never really said or did that much other than play the bass.

There's a mystery as to just who is he and where he came from and it seems that in interviews, the rest of the band is pretty tight-lipped about him.

He's one heck of a bassist though..he's the guy that got me started on bass a few years back, he's got a great style.

  • God save the Smithreens !

  • Go Tex!

  • Holey crap! Haven't heard this for years! Love it. When are they coming to Australia?

  • Incredible! These guys were the most underappreciated band of ALL time.

  • yep, they totally were, and still are. im going to see them perform this friday, and i cant wait.

  • Man, it never gets old, does it! They'll keep playing for us 'reen fans as long as we keep the faith! I can't count how many shows I've been to! Long live The Smithereens!

  • Very much underated! These guys were always totaly tight live. I saw them in 1989 they were right at their peak, but I still think they are!

  • Wow ! Never saw this and they seem like they might have been at their peak at this time. " Blow Uo " should have put them into superstar status ; because it's probably the most experimental and truly different sounding album the band ever made. This was an incredibly intense performance and tight as I ever saw them. This is one of the best songs from the album.

  • Agreed. This song, without a doubt,is my most favorite on the entire album. I saw them perform and also got to meet them(back in 1988)on the Green Thoughts tour. By the way,a great show and album. I wish Mike Mesaros was still with them, though.

  • RICKY! LOL!

  • Awesome performance; one of most underrated bands in Rock n' Roll.....and they're still on the road performing in 2008. Check out their new LIVE CD for living proof the Smithereens get even better with age!

  • I would have to agree with SlipKid515! The most under-rated band in Rock N' Roll and the boys are still Rockin' across the USA! The LIVE CD (recorded at the Court Tavern earlier this year) is a must have for all Smithereens fans - go out and buy it now!!!

  • Always thought this was one of their best songs...the studio version is awesome w/the Cowsills on backing vox.

  • wow! rare footage of my gavorite band ever! what a great performance of one of my favorite songs! jimmys so damned cool, isnt he??

  • Jimmy's the best and this is HIS SONG!!

  • WOW! Never saw this one before, this is fantastic! THANKS!!!
