Hi Viper Keeper, what was the first snake you ever had?.I still have my first snake(corn snake) they live a long time, do venemous snakes live as long as constrictors?
Gaboons & the other really big vipers (sorry I'm not a snake expert) are just.. amazing to look at, they look so menacing even at a distance, I saw a biiig eastern diamond back here in FL when I was a kid and just watched it go on by I think I was about 5 at the time.. my mom nearly had a heart attack when she saw what had to be a good 6 foot snake just casually lean up, look at me & go on.. I've been a fan of them since then, thanks for showing us these so often VK.
@viperkeeper i think they mean the fangs, they are inside the fleshy bit and come out like a cats claw when ready to strike. It looks like she must use them to manouvre the prey further into her mouth once they have hold, is that right?
@Attila2452126 Ahhh I know what you're talking about. They have a sheath that covers their fang, till they are plunging it into the prey animal, then it lifts up like a curtain.... Or you can this of it as a foreskin on an un-circumsized male human, same sort of deal.
@Attila2452126 They are sharp....Believe me!!! I have several snake fang sheds in my possession (snakes shed their fangs as they grow, and to make sure that they never 'blunt'). It doesn't take a great deal of pressure to puncture your skin, they are natures equivilent of the needle that you would see used in an emergency department of a hospital. For the record, no, I have never purposely tried to "stick" myself, but I've done it on apples and they go in VERY easily.
@viperkeeper because when you shooted in I saw at the end of his bloody ass something its either its parts or a baby can you please look at it agin.Thank you:)P.S.like your video!
@viperkeeper because when you shooted in I saw at the end of his bloody ass something its either its parts or a baby can you please look at it agin.Thank you:)
The Thing is, you cant tell by a snakes "Face", if she feels unpleasant/is bothered or not. She may look like a peaceful, calm Snake, but u never know, if she is about to strike or not:D That Clip scared the shit out of me:D Love the gaboon tho^^
From "Peaceful" to "I fuckin own everything, standin in my way" in 0,00001 Secs:D
@chadthomas889 No, gennerally animals can only breed within their species, ie: Black Mambas could possibly breed with a Green Mamba but not with a Cape Cobra.
viperkeeper I'm curious but have you ever actually been bitten by any of the snakes you've owned? If so do you keep anti-venom on-hand yourself? Just curious because some of the snakes you have are very lethal (Although I'm 100% sure you know that haha) Just curious on those two questions..
@herpa8dan Yes, I don't use them normally. Only 2 people have access to the room. If somebody got into the room, they would be able to access the viv's anyway if they were inclined to do so.
@viperkeeper Ah right on, I'm not sure on the requirements of keeping hots in the states. Over in the UK I believe you need to have two pains of locked glass on the front of the viv (don't quote me on this...) along with a locking door into the room etc...A lot of requirements for obvious reasons! What is your opinion on venomoids? feel free to private message me if you'd prefer. Lovely snake none the less!
does prekilled food have same food values as live food and is prekilled food filled with preservatives and other things that might not agree with snakes indegestion systemm? seems like live food would be more healthier.
I am stunned! ive seen gaboon vipers (correct me if im wrong) on documentaries before, but i cannot believe the size of its head, jaws and fangs. Seeing it like this and not filmed in the wild gives you a greater sense of scale and wholly molly! Thant is amazing, scary, incredible! Great vid :)
hi nice video and nice info on the side, i do have a question i got a male gaboon, and hes kinda acting differently too. Can it be that he's feels the need to breed ? he's over 3 years old. i havent seen him acting like this before. Moves alot and keeps hugging the glas. doesnt strike tho. and wont eat for a while now. (3 weeks)
Should they not eat head first?? Anyway my real question is could you do a video of how to handle a wild snake, you see people picking them up by the tail, couldn't they strick from there, and what does a snake hook do?? I'm in the uk, so no worries about me going and getting something like the beast you have there. thanks jon
@viperkeeper although i agree about reading books and other material they often contradict each other and then you have to ask a keeper which method would be the best...so therefor i believe that if..no not if but when...i keep dedlies i would give as much advice as i could rather than just saying read a book....the book may tell them that it is a hard decision to keep a venomous snake but doesnt really show them the complications of keeping them. but as a keeper yourself you know whats involved
The gaboon viper (Gabby) makes a very entertaining video. That is one awesome snake. It would be impossible to see this snake in leaf litter. Do the mice have to be a certain temperature or can they smell them..........Thank you for these video post.
You know whats crazy, these are one of the few poisonous snakes that give you no hint or warning if and when they strike. Such a scary snake, but my absolute favorite

beautiful gaboon! i have a question. has that rat been gutted? i've heard of people gutting them so that the snake doesn't have to ingest any of the nasty junk in their digestive tracks.
@SheepGo2Hell2 That was not rude, that was incredulous, that happens when someone asks a dumb question not based in common sense. I know of no zoo that removes the healthest part of the meal for their captive Birds. The whole idea is to reproduce their nutritional requirements as close to nature as possible.
Viperkeeper, your the man, your balls are huge. I mean I'm a constrictor kinda guy, I have a ball python, and a anaconda, but your collection is amazing,WOW!!!!!!!!!
