  • disgusting human soup

  • I fear it's probably too far gone to save now, nothing short of a complete societal collapse could fix that river now. Sewage plants aren't going to stop rural use or illegal dumping which are still going to happen no matter what because of the poverty and huge population. Quite a shame

  • most of the textile mills that are located on the banks of the Ganges are owned by muslim scum; that is why they freely dump the waste into the river, knowing its significance to the Hindus!

  • Oooga, you are partly right. All the industrialists, Hindu, Muslim, Christian and Sikh companies ALL DUMP THE CHEMICALS. 27 cities dump raw shit into Ganga water. Shit from Muslims too . Now why we Hindus drink and bathe in it, .......I JUST CAN NOT UNDERSTAND!.

  • Deseo ir a Varanasi y beber un buen vaso de la fresca agua del Ganges.

  • @LolonMatinez ¿Y por qué rayos quieres tomar de esa agua tan sucia??? :P

  • Yeah, is disgusting, just like your house.

    Stupid Yank.

  • very nice, i look forward to my future visit

  • so sad it is so polluted :(

  • excellent video! however you need a better narrator as the voice is a strain to listen to!

  • I have followed the water quality (using a simple water kit used in measuring fish ponds/tanks) and found that some sewers in London are far cleaner than some sections of this river! WHO colliforom count can get as high as a toilet pan/bowl. With india's technology advance, we can save this river like the Thames was rescued and we now have salmon coming back to breed in some areas. Jai ganga ma!

  • The term "religious war" is an oxymoron. There is no such thing.

  • please help ganga and narmada

  • Great video! Very interesting, informative, and you had some good footage!

  • Jaya Ganga ma!

  • And the english would clean it right ? The English were there for 200 years, what did they do ? Just bled the Indians for their Wealth and left it bankrupt.

  • Thank you very very much for this informative and colorful video. Really enjoyed it.

  • Oh no! How can u be that fanatic? I fell sorry for you. I grow up in a christian comunity, but I know that there are many ways to God. And hinduism is one of them. There´s nothing else to say ´cos war is not the answer! Hare Krishna to you :D and peace (Om shanti Om)

  • salahuddin786: Holy war is never the answer. War on its own is innately evil, as it makes individuals give up their capacity to question those in power, and causes humans to turn on our own species. Furthermore, this is no more "degradation of the dead" than any other religion. The dead must be gotten rid of some how, and burning sounds like one of the cleanest ways, aside from burial with a tree planted on top to soak up the toxins and purify the earth.

  • salahuddin786: Who said anything about the fires of hell? A pile of burning timbers or a chamber of gas jets is not hell. It is rapid oxidation, no more, no less. It converts most of the perishable matter into gases, energy and pure carbon, and destroys all bacteria, therefore making it highly sanitary. The only unethical thing in the video is the partial and improper cremations that result in perishable matter being released into the water supply.

  • Burning those bodies are pretty brutal.

  • lol Indians have their own method to the afterlife and it's a good thing not a brutal thing

  • This video is useful to undestand the enormity of waste flow in to the river.

The commentator says that Ganga is spreading cholera and other water born diseases.

It it were true then Benaras should have been by now wiped out, causing terrible panic among the population.

But there is no such thing.

  • You are insulting and ignorant, without respect for other's beliefs. To find a solution to the Ganges problem, the people need to be educated, that way they would polute less. Then if the government cared, that would help.

  • Christians also polute rivers and the enviroment, it has nothing to do with religion, only ignorance and people like you making things worse and not helping, but contributing to the problem.

  • you have no idea what your talking about.... most of them are smarter than you, they have less opportunities for jobs however. Also there is no way education has anything to do with religious faith. And last, Hindus have religious tolerance unlike you.

  • christians are gays.. and all including your lord is eating hindus feaces , ( tatti)

  • Its a shame people with stereotypical notions akin to yours are permitted to join public forums thus ensuing communal disharmony.

  • just proves how dirty the people are . also, how gullible people are in believing in hinduism.

  • Cleanliness is important to Hindus, but when you put a billion very very poor people in one place it is hard to keep up with the mess.

And why is believing in Hinduism more gullible than believing in some other mythology?

  • Wow... that's what every other religion thinks about you....

  • Although the film is beautifully done, it is a shame that Mr.Sadler did not THINK to ASK the average REAL HINDU what he was witnessing. It would then have been as clear as Christians going to Jerusalem and walking the way of the cross.

  • nice job, i was there in 2003. Reminds me of the awsome, and life changing experiences i had.

  • lol i have trouble going into public swimming pools......this is out of the question

  • nice work,great subject

  • For clarify, at 7:12 in this video, they show a guys ass! lmao. Hey I wonder how that poor dude would feel if he knew his naked ass was on the internets for 1038 people to see, lol lol. Tyson my buddy you are a good praktickall joker! This guy = own3d!!! lol. jk jk. You showed his ass lol. wtf. jk jk.

  • I can't get over how he shot the footage of that one guys ass by the river, when he was changing. ha ha ha. nice ass shot! wtf.

  • lol

  • Despite the unbelievable pollution issues, Banares is still the most remarkable and grace-filled city on earth. Its quite a paradox. I will quote my friend from Assi Ghat, "all over the earth, so much problem, but Banares still stands on the tip of Lord Shiva's trident" Or something to that effect. Thank you for the great video. Ma India!!!!

  • Besides your pronunciation being a bit off, I thought this was quite well done. It's really important that people are educated and made aware of these kinds of situations. Thank you for making this, I loved the music particularly, Good job!

  • hahahahah I can't believe you showed that one guys ass! lol. Hot stuff! jk jk.

  • lmao

  • very nice job. congratulations!

  • ridiculous. I wouldnt understand the importance unless i was hindu myself.

  • You are right, you can't understand, but at least you aknowledge it. Some poeple are just insulting.

  • Thank you for this important film! Can you please post the text that appears in the very beginning in the video information text? It is too blurry for me to read in the introductory title.

  • nice job done man. lotsa reality information provided. yeah, scientifically there are issues concerned, but still religion wise we believe its holy water. once take dip there, all our sins will be forgiven and we will attain new birth. once in my life, am wishing to there to take a holy dip. also, every year we need to do annual death anniversary rites to the departed souls. but for that, if being done in ganges, then only once is required hence skipping annual rites.
