From what I've seen of this trailer, this is by far the best version. American cinema merely seeks to show off attractive actors and actresses; this Russian version seems to celebrate the richness of the drama's literary heritage.
Could this russian be better as the versions of 1965 and 2002? If had watched a bit of the russian version, but sorry, I only understand german. I prefer the europpean version of 2002 with Hans Matheson and Keira Knightley! Brilliant music, brilliant script, clean film sets and and nearly brilliant actors. What do you think? Your oppinion, too?
Pasternak converted and became Russian Orthodox and really did not want to be considered Jewish at all. Poor Pasternak: the antisemites won't leave him in peace.

Was there really a film made in Russia of the Pasternak novel "Doctor Zhivago" and where can I get it, even in Russian. Thank you.

Is there an English subtitled version available? My Russian isn't that good.

It would be hard to beat the David Lean version!

But I think that Russians can feel this novel better - Pasternak is Russian. And Russians wouldn't do so funny mistakes in the film.
