@banjoplayer57 13" open-back, made by Mike Ramsey, before he was calling his banjos "Chanterelle." Maple pot and neck, rolled brass tone ring, fiberskyn head. I keep the head pretty loose (1/2 turn past finger tight), and the let the no-knot tailpiece ride really high so the string angle across the bridge is very shallow. I can get bright notes if I really smack it hard, but otherwise it produces the mulled-cider tones you hear here.
Great ~ I just seem to have come back to this song..... you got me started on the fiddle with your St.Anne's Reel and I'm still not looking back. Many thanks ..Chris
that old man is PIMP when he plays that fiddle, he has the worst posture ever, he looks away like he knows how good he is, and still produces that awesome mountain sound, go Truman!
I may look away like that because I'm listening intently to the other person as well as myself. A reason I like the position, in addition to the ease of bowing, is that I can definitely hear the other person better. Thanks!
Love the sound of the banjo. What banjo is he playing?

Is this tune in the public domain? The reason I ask is because I am thinking about doing this at a contest that only allows public domain songs.
