Most local cops are UNDEREDUCATED and lack the Intellectual skills to deal with some problems. So, they use arrest and or violence to solve their problem. It is better to just go to jail (If you must) and get in front of an Educated Judge who (In most cases) will correct the STUPID COPS MISTAKES.

I would love to know how someone can tell what a police officer is thinking. That is the only way to know if you're being "profiled". Colin Powell is a brilliant man, but I feel that he is completely wrong on that point. Gates spent his entire career teaching that America is a racist nation and Blacks are victims. It is clear from the evidence that he was the provocateur in this case.

Now he can proudly boast about his own victimization at the hands of police. Gates won the victimhood lottery.

Powell ASSUMES that he was racially profiled, just like Gates did. We have no way of knowing if race was a factor in the thinking of the men he accuses.

The 911 records demonstrate that neither the caller nor the police had any idea what race the suspects were, until well after Gates ahd already accused the Sgt. of racism. Gates just jumped to that conclusion.

How do we know that Powell didn't make the same mistake in his supposed cases of "profiling"?

The fact that White against Black racism is real does not mena that it happened in this case. In this case we saw Black against White racism on the part of Gates. He displayed prejudice against the White police sgt., who DID NOT RACIALLY PROFILE HIM.

Gates harrassed the sgt. and got arrested, as men who harrass policemen are wont to do.

Again Powell tries to play both sides, saying that both sides share the blame. This sounds like a reasonable response to any dispute between two people.

But it is WRONG, based on the facts.

This was NOT a personal dispute, this was a police Sgt., investigating a reported crime, and being harrassed by an irrational person. He had a duty to control the scene and restore the peace. It is the primary function of the police.

Powell is way out of line. All he cares about is getting good press.

King deliberately set out to get arrested. It is the whole point of civil disobedience. He was not profiled by police, he deliberately violated (admittedly unjust) laws in order to get himself arrested and draw attention to injustice.

It was heroic, to be sure, but not an example of "racial profiling" by the police.
