Jian was simply introducing one of his guests; supplying some background information to give the listener a reference point as to who bbt is...most people know him as an actor not as a musician.Billy then went on to act like a pouting baby, because shit didn't go exactly his way, and then he made some subtle jabs at the Canadian people. CBC is not in the business of giving an ad platform for celebrities. They don't get scripted by their guests.

@mhuffman1000 The Canadian host, while he has a job, also has the responsibility to respect the wishes of the talent if they request that specific things not be talked about. Like BBT says, that's often part of the agreement between talent and producers so the talent agrees to come on. And they do it because the show agrees and promises not to bring x-y-z up. The host likely broke this agreement, this promise, which gave BBT all the more reason to troll the host. And he succeeded admirably.

Point is, the fact he is an actor wasn't supposed to be brought up in any respect, no matter what the purpose of doing was. The host also attributed the band's fame and success with the membership OF BBT, which while it might be true, obviously is not something that would make the band happy to hear said.

Then, simply leave the studio. Instead, he not only made himself look idiotic, he actually created the opposite effect by drawing further attention to his career as an actor rather than to the band. End result, Billy Bob sabotaged the band and ended the tour in Canada. Brilliant.
