Hearing this again makes me want to time travel to the day that FFT0 Comes in English T.T, such of epic BGM has this game... But I wonder if the America version would cut every blood that this game has, since is one of the most bloodiest game ever for PSP...
Except I didn't say I personally thought XIII's score was better than XII's, but that that was the general consensus of those soundtracks, which was my point. You just weren't paying attention.
Hearing this just gives me goosebumps~ Uematsu Nobuo will always be missed for his contributions to the FF series but I believe Ishimoto Takeharu has just started a brand new chapter for the music of FF.
@gurl85 his work on Dissidia, Type-0 and some of his pieces in Crisis Core - i mean they're just epic. I think HE MUST compose for the FF Type series, he'll be like the new uematsu but with his own personal flare!
Anyways I WANT THE LYRICS TO THIS!! and PURE FIRE!!
First off, Hamauzu only wrote about about 10 or so tracks for Final Fantasy XIII-2. So if you are going to bash someone for something they didn't work on alone, might as as well do the research first. Second, what exactly was wrong with XIII-2's soundtrack? Was it the rap that Hamauzu once again didn't make? Was it the fact that it was much different than what is apparently in your comfort zone? Please, I'm dying to know.
@NemesisSP No, I didn't even know there was a rap lol. What's wrong with XIII-2's soundtrack is the same thing that was wrong with xiii's soundtrack, while a lot of it is okay compositionally, it just doesn't carry much emotional weight to it at all aside from maybe the piano piece. Listen to uematsu's opening to FFVI and hear how effective a piece can be without all the unnecessary flashiness. ishimoto's compositions for type-0 seem to have much more emotion them than anything in XIII or XIII-2
@NemesisSP no, it's the fact that compoistionally, hamauzu's music is very lacking compared to the music of past final fantasies. Again listen to the opening of ffvi, uematsu gives every single note a purpose and each note greatly contributes the emotion that the piece conveys. Hamauzu's compositions are unecessarily flashy and really hardly carry any weight to them at all.
@NemesisSP "leaving out the many other listeners who think that XIII is one of the best works of music in recent history," if they think that ffxiii's soundtrack is one of the best musical works of recent history then they need their heads examined. "These are completely different composers that we should just listen to instead of comparing them to the others." "... especially coming after Final Fantasy XII's rather weak soundtrack." hypocrisy ftw.
No, the difference is that I am not bashing XII's soundtrack or composer. I just didn't feel it was strong, but it was still a very good soundtrack. And if you notice, I didn't compare the two outside of "I just didn't care for this one".
And if I am a hypocrite, you are the bigger one by your attitude and inappropriateness. (Although your lack of decent grammar is pretty unfortunate) concerning a soundtrack that you could just have said you didn't like.
@NemesisSP " you could just have said you didn't like." that's exactly what I did and then you took offense to that and replied to my comment about it." I stated my opinion on FFXIII-2's soundtrack, you took offense to that, and then started lecturing me about respecting peoples' opinions.
I didn't take offense to you not liking it, I only asked a question of WHY you didn't like it. The only thing I took offense to was "Hamauzu should GTFO" because that was an unneeded way to say it.
"if they think that ffxiii's soundtrack is one of the best musical works of recent history then they need their heads examined." And this is not hypocritical how?
@NemesisSP because I didn't say anything to that contradicts that. Hypocrisy is preaching one thing and then doing exactly the opposite. I never did that.
And neither did I. I never said I personally thought XII's score was weaker. The only thing I really said was I didn't like VI's soundtrack, which I don't understand how that makes me a hypocrite, since I didn't contradict what I was saying.
Oh, and that comment about people needing their heads examined was hypocritical because they liked something you didn't, btw. So you fail in that logic.
@NemesisSP that's not what hypocritical means. Hypocritical means preaching one thing and then then doing the opposite, i never did that. I never said they needed their heads examined for liking it, it said they needed their heads examined if they though it was one of the greatest musical works in recent history. It's like calling twilight one of the greatest pieces of literature of the 21st century. It's still their opinion, but it's batshit crazy.
"It's still their opinion, but it's batshit crazy." Yeah, I think you need to step back and rethink that. Look, just get over it, a lot of people really like a soundtrack you don't, that doesn't make them crazy or anything. You still don't have a right to belittle them as you are doing so now by even mentioning they need their heads examined, which, how else are we supposed to take that? You are a hypocrite because you are contradicting your point. I haven't, but you are.
@NemesisSP I never contradicted my point and I blatantly pointed out the parts where you have (example one being me expressing my opinion on ffxiii's soundtrack, you complaining to me about it, and then lecturing me about respecting opinions. Yes a lot of people may like it. They can like it all they want, but to call it the best musical work in recent history seems like an immensely uninformed statement to me suggesting that you probably know very little about music composition.
And if you think pointing out what other people have said to back my point, you need to recheck what hypocrisy means. And btw, pulling a word of a dictionary doesn't make you seem smart or know what you are talking about, it just makes you look like an ass.
@NemesisSP again, hypocrisy is essentially doing something that contradicts what you preach. I have pointed out where you clearly have and yet I have done no such thing, or if i have, you haven't demonstrated it yet. For example, first you complain to me about my opinion of ffxiii-2's ost, disrespecting my opinion, then you tell me to respect the opinions of others.
That point being, people have their own opinions, respect that. You don't have to like it, but it doesn't make them crazy or wrong. You don't have to like Hamauzu, but don't insult people who do, which is what you have been doing.
@NemesisSP Have you heard all of the songs in recent history? no, of course not. Have you even heard all of the oscar-nominated film scores in recent history, i doubt it. I won't insult people if they don't make ignorant statements saying that they feel something is the best when they haven't even experienced all of whatever subject they're claiming it's the best of. Also, best, implies proficiency in compositional aspects when compared to all others in the category.
@NemesisSP cont. I woudn't have had any problem with you saying "ffxiii's soundtrack is my favorite music to listen to that i've heard in recent history" but to say it's the best implies you have heard all the music in recent history. Also favorite is entirely subjective. In regards to art there are normally standards for defining "best". Twilight could be someone's favorite novel but it's poor plot and writing make it very difficult to call "best."
Also, notice how I'm not trying to get you to like Hamauzu, just pointing out that others have their own opinion that doesn't match up with yours? What you think is is hypocrisy only seems that way because you don't agree with my opinion, which is fine. But you need to learn that your opinion isn't the only one that matters, same as with me and with others as well.
I know I'll get crucified for saying this, but I'm not a big fan of VI's music. It's just not that interesting to me. I think it's very overrated, but I am very impressed with his other work so it doesn't matter. And I think that XIII's music is very powerful considering that it isn't the strongest music that both Final Fantasy and Hamauzu have done. But you don't hear me saying that Uematsu should GTFO after hearing, let's say, Shimomura's already released tracks for Versus.
