Pot is over $14 and he has less than $20 behind. Betting $5 here gives the BTN the option to call with worse, but more importantly gives him room to bluff shove over the top with hands that he wouldn't call a big cbet with. It gives the illusion of fold equity. Perfect cbet size.

You want to re-raise with AK to gain initiative in the hand and because you are likely ahead of your opponent's raising range. In this particular hand I decide to 4bet with AK for these reasons. You never usually want to just call the 3bet when you are out of position, because it makes it very difficult to win the hand.
