This was MGM's attempt to turn Ezio Pinza into the studio's next "Mario Lanza" (but he just didn't have the screen presence, or "sex appeal", as Lanza had). As for Lana, she wasn't really a "singer"; her vocals were actually dubbed by Fran Warren.

@fromthesidelines I always thought her voice was dubbed by Trudy Erwin. In any case, I agree with ciroalb3. Where was Marni Nixon when we needed her?
