  • it takeing 45 mintue to go to the hydant

  • First in engine could have dropped tools, a manifold, a blitzfire, and a couple of high rise packs at the scene and reversed out. Or the 2nd engine could have left one man at the plug and laid in to them. Anything but this clusterf...I mean group fornication at the hydrant!

  • Would anyone like some pasta?

  • They hand jacked 600ft. of LDH to the pumper that was at the house, work smart not hard. Try a forward lay from the hydrant and like katman70 said open that deck gun and every handline on that pumper. That fire is a 2 alarm fire period, get more help!

  • wtf is wrong with this picture, looks like they are playing with each other at the hydrent.while the fire keeps moving and growing.

  • @18melkev Seriously bro! they got four guys hooking the hydrant. If my squad did that in the academy... Oh man!

  • Really, really, how many of you does it take to catch a plug? 3 is ridiclous!!! You guys look like a bunch of monkeys screwing a football. And what was the reason for not laying in????

  • @mayorleggett you dont even want to know about there military..if they have any

  • Comment removed

  • Oh, how horrible. As a volly, I hate to see res fires.

But what the hell are the FFs doing at the hydrant? And what are the safety officers doing when the utility truck rolls in as if he owns the scene and blocking operations? Lack of training methinks. Canada - we love you but get it together!

  • great description!

  • Four firefighters and a cop to make a hydrant?!?!?!? Four minutes until the LDH from the hydrant is charged??!?!? This has to be one of the most PATHETIC displays of firefighting I've ever seen. Not to mention the first engine pulls HANDLINES on a fire like this. Ever hear of a deckgun?? Big fire = big water folks!

  • Comment removed

  • What took them so long to hook up to the plug and get water to the fire?... this aint a drill boys this is the real deal..

  • That house is TOAST !!!

  • parking in the smoke???

  • @thomasheins75

Who cares that they parked in the smoke....that's why they have SCBA. The question is why is that deckgun not in use when they're parked right in front of the house??

  • Hmm..And why the Parking the Truck direkt in the Dangours Smoke ? Not enough hoses ?

  • wtf are u guys doin you suck at fighting fire move your asses and put out that shit and it dont take 5 guys to hit a hydrant dumb asses

  • @mayorleggett Sorry No one in the world can live up to the states standards.

  • Gosh dang it my computers messin up...but with 3 fires at one time thats ALOT of heat....1 3/4 handlines may as well been garden hoses, the needed some SERIOUS water flow. I realize a 2 1/2 woulda emptied their tank quicker but they could have utilized the cops to help drag a hose to the hydrant, after all they were helping to TRY and get the fire across the street out

  • This would be a good video of what NOT to do..... the white car that left at 7:18 got some good vids of the back sides of the houses, the garages going

  • Thats crazy....I've never seen anything like that but with the close proximity of the houses its no wonder they lost 3... I have to agree with katman70 and scotmilestone....to hell with the 1 3/4 handlines, wrap the hydrant pull up and get that damn deck gun going and 2 1/2's. In the one video that has pictures duing the fire I did see them using a monitor nozzle...but on the end house that was already lost, use it on the one next exposure thats getting ready to go

  • i agree with you katman70 and i dont under stand y they didnt rap the hydrant and let the engine go closer to the fire for more assistance

  • @mayorleggett Everyone's an expert on youtube!

  • @barticus04 I AGREE 100% !! Why do so many people have to be a damned authority on everything ???

  • I agree with katman70. 25 years on the job and I never saw anything like that. Ever hear about the 5 P's? Poor Planning Produces Poor Performance. Hope no one was hurt, thats the bottom line.

  • Get some time training boys. Stay safe.

Finally after tons of these videos and hundreds of comments it's there. Hello deck gun. Hell we use that bitch on dumpster fires. It's almost like it's not installed on these rigs?

  • Good film and I will subscribe

  • @mayorleggett Not necessarily. If they were volunteers and had a drive to get there the response time was probably decent. Remember not every locale has a fire station within 5 min. And even if they do mutual aid could have a substantial response time. We also don't know what is still on the road or being dispatched.

WTF was going on at the plug? Talk about monkeys fucking a football!

  • 2:42 mooooooooooooove i want this spot

  • canada ehh??

  • i think i saw better responses from the iraqi fire department when i was in the sandbox...

  • did they ever get the fire out or did they just let the neighborhood burn to the ground...3 fuckups on that hydrant...who is in charge here anyway?

  • i love the part where the eletric compaany pulls right in front of the plug. classic

  • @mayorleggett Umm volunteer department, and we have lots of engines so quit talking shit since you don't know anything

  • I love the 2 police officers across the street trying to put out the debris on the front yard... Firemen don't give out traffic tickets, Police don't put out fires...

  • @lmichel75 It was actually 2 paramedics who are BOTH off duty firefighters. Open your fucking eyes retard

  • THE DOG DID IT OFFICER

  • ummm wow just sad

  • I can piss faster then they could hook up the hoses.

  • Comment removed

  • ....and not a single fuck was given that day

  • @mayorleggett If you're thinking of a city department, keep in mind that this is a small town. This is a volunteer fire department. These people have to leave their jobs, drive across town to the fire hall, get their gear on, and then drive back to the opposite side of town, which is where this fire was. They do the best they can to get to a fire as soon as they can.

  • Gotta love the utility truck that parks right in front of the hydrant with a fire truck coming. Not like a house is on fire or anything.

  • @mayorleggett Depends on where you are, unfortunately we have Fire depts. like this here too.

  • absolutely pittaful firefighting operations!

  • You're right. What the hell took them so long to hook up the line and getting the water on. I will tell you, THEY DON'T TRAIN ENOUGH. That truck that pulled up and their fartin' around with the hose....embarrassing.

  • @starbucks500 They train pretty often, actually.

  • I like the guys FDNY shirt, too bad the weren't there. Fire would have been out by the end of the video.

  • Why in the world did the second due engine not reverse lay in to the first due engine?

  • Im confused 3 guys to make hydrant? Then they dump the ldh on the ground in a pile? One guy at the hydrant bring the rig forward and get that deck gun in operation. To fricken slow. Does anyone agree with me? Line rite in the middle of the road so no other engines or trucks can move closer to the scene. Put the ldh to the side. Wonder why so many houses burned.

  • @katman70 Hell yeah i agree with you!!!!!!!!

I thought this was a FORWARD LAY??? If so, then why are they still at the hydrant?????

Your also correct with the deck gun comment.

This fire is now a CONFLAGRATION!!!!

Get that deck gun in position so it can get some water on the fire.

It's pretty easy to figure out what to do here.

The WHOLE block is close to going up.

You ain't laying no 1-3/4 line on this.

    DEFENSIVE OPS BOYS.

  • @katman70 i agree with you and i dont under stand y they didnt rap the hydrant and let the engine go closer to the fire for more assistance

  • @katman70 maybe they had a probie or something, bad time to learn. still it should take that many firefighters to make a hydrant, and then dump it into the road.

  • @katman70 WTF What the hell are they doiing…?? we would make a hook up in 45 sec… SAD...

  • @katman70 yeaa deff its not suposed to take threee people to tap in to the hydrant and that fact that they droped the idh in a pile was pretty stupid also they should have a truck crew for tools and the should be using the deck gun on the primary atack engine

  • damn that sucks

  • at 5:28 whats up with all the dogs

  • what the hell are they doin with the hydrant??damn...

  • did anybody die?

  • They have a Highflow WAGON BATTERY on this engine company,VITAL for putting out this fire.Who was the IC on this fire.

  • How many Firefighters does it take to lay a supply line'' lets see the whole ENGINE COMPANY''.

  • WOW crazy multiple exposure problems,Rescue problems, lets just mingle with the crowd and relax.NOT NOT NOT

  • This was my friends house that was on fire, they are re building the houses now, but it was pretty scary

  • @90LYggER09 hope there okay/ do you know how the porch across the street caught fire?

  • Next time you'll just buy the damn girl scout cookies!

  • Holy crap that's intense

  • i love how everybody is moving fast lol

  • How far away is the nearest station.

  • @MajorRawne001 The fire hall in Sylvan is on the opposite side of town, so it could have taken five or ten minutes for them to get to the fire from the hall.

  • If this was the US there would be like 30 trucks at this thing.

  • How many firemen does it take to take a hydrant? Cue circus music...

  • With all due respect...I could never live in a structure built so close to another...no matter how good the FD is...one will lead to another, and you most likely will have the domino effect

  • Bombeiros Ílhavo 2010 - see on ytube

  • glad to see they flushed the hydrant first

  • @SomersetFF

Why is this necessary? To test if it's really working? Or if there's enough pressure? Sorry for the dumb question.

  • @loetlampe Over time, sediments tend to build up in the pipelines. Especially ones at the end of the line. If you flush like they did first, it saves the truck from getting damaged.

  • @SomersetFF

So it's to prevent the pumps from ingesting sediments or sand. Thanks for the hint.

  • That's what happens when houses made out of glue, plastic, and sawdust are built a foot and a half away from each other.

  • would have made more sense to lay the line w/ the truck rather than walk it,

  • @john6218att The engine had to stay at the plug to relay to the other engine

  • 2 words-Master Stream.

  • Them Canadians need to drill more all said

  • Only if you're home burns, would you critisize them too?!? Tell me, do you have any actual fire training or experience?

  • Wow. I was actually there, and it is funny to see how many RETARDS are trying to "analyze" how to hit this fire, tagging hydrants, etc. They did what they could, and BIG FIRE does not always equal big water. There are many issues that have to be dealt with first before we start putting water on a fire. Now only if morons and little kids would have a little common sense

  • @lfdlumpy You must be a real good firefighter! You name "ifdLUMPY" kind of gives it away on how good you are.

Blah-blah-blah. Electricity "turn off", rescues to be made?, designate engine company's position, blah-blah-blah. Meanwhile, your lumpy, I mean lazy firefighters could be laying hoses. Funny how you carry the hoses instead of using your trucks to lay the hoses down. Like I said, a real comedy act. Did the home owners lawyers see this hilarious video?

  • @Silver1Sprg So since you're "perfect" Tell me what is the point of driving another truck up right in front of the house and clogging the road, possibly endangering more lives where guys hauling hose up works just perfect for the 40 feet it was from the hydrant? And holy shit, if someone doesn't do something the "way" you want, doesn't mean you can bitch them out. And yeah lawyers seen this video I imagine, and nothing wrong with it. I mean, they have went to school unlike your dumb ass

  • @lfdlumpy oh please.... are you from another planet? You hook up you hoses to the hydrant. Drive forward - dumping your hoses in a straight line, and pass the fire, not stopping in front of fire. You are now ready to shoot water from hydrant to truck to individual hoses without carrying them. That is FAR more than 40 feet!!!! Took four fireman to tie on a hose to hydrant? Only thing your good for is personal attacks. Just be careful out there. You might get burned.

  • @lfdlumpy As an old engine captain, personally I would have had the second engine tie in with duals, drop them up to just past the first engine, hooked into both engines with the supply lines resulting in multiple attack lines from both engines available and two supplied engines in front of the fire building and exposures. Then follow on companies could be used for supression or other assignments as needed. BUT... everyone has their own way of doing things, if this is their way, so be it.

  • @covewatcher Very well put sir! I haven't heard someone who put it into words like that. Everyone just says they are doing it wrong... I agree that is probably the best thing that should of been done too. If I remember correctly, there was a hydrant that the first engine went by (why it was not tagged only they know) that following mutual aid engine tagged. As you say, everyone has their own way operating on scene, but like I said your comment makes sense and so do you.

  • @lfdlumpy Also, as the fire building appears to be a prime candidate for an aerial operation, not to mention water curtains for the exposures, I am willing to be there is another hydrant at the other end of the block and you could actually take 2 supply lines from that hydrant as well to supply a truck, even two. If there are minimum 8 inch mains in this neighborhood like most codes call for, then there would be plenty of water and pressure running duals from these hydrants.

  • @covewatcher If they had an aerial of sorts, I agree and they probably would have ended up doing that to the exposures towards the camera because there was only one house on the far side that was already involved. They did call for a mutual aid engine, but not too sure as if it had an elevated master stream. Very nice to see someone on here who knows what they are talking about. Would you be worried about radiant heat for the bucket utilizing a water curtain?

  • @lfdlumpy I am not sure I understand the question about the radiant heat. If you are asking would I worry about the ladder or bucket being damaged or the firefighters exposed, no. That is why positioning is key. If you are asking if I would be concerned about the radiant heat to the exposures and thus use a bucket or ladder with a vary-nozzle for a fog curtain, absolutely. If I were lucky enough to have a dual nozzled bucket, I would use one for suppression and the other for protection.

  • @lfdlumpy This would be a good tactical training video becuase of the fire load and exposures. Venting is out, and unnecessary at this point. You could actual use a single nozzle aerial for suppression, one hand line each from the two engines for protection (water curtain) each side and probably up to 4 additional lines (2 each engine) for suppression. I would also put an engine one block over to come in from the rear with attack lines, not wait for the A side to fight to the back.

  • @lfdlumpy I also wanted to add, I am still not criticizing this firefight. These firefighters were there, they know what equipment is available and what their resources are, and the bottom line is the fire was put out and hopefully no one was hurt. My comments come from a "perfect world" perspective and are not intended to downgrade or downplay the job done by these guys. We are all professionals, volunteer or paid, and we do the best job possible with what we have and know.

  • Tjere should def. be some monitiors on the fire and there should have suround and drowned. This fire is crazy but really it takes 4 mins to hook a hydrant i have seen exploders do it in 1min.

  • What the hell is wrong with the second crew on scene, fire fighting 101. BIG FIRE =BIG WATER, GET A GRIP.

  • Comment removed

  • it shouldn't take that long to tag a hydrant

  • @yungdcwa81 or that many members!!!!

  • Donate to re-train this fire department on how to attack fires in an appropriate timely manner. It's almost like the three stooges working the shift.

  • @Silver1Sprg I will accept donations to come kick your fucking ass, do a hell of a better job than you ever would

  • @lfdlumpy Oh, the Keystone Cops also do boxing??? Sure, come kick my ass - after your tea break. LOL

  • Why the Hell did the engine hitting the tyrant not lay in? Why bust your ass dragging it?

  • @aaronkundla Cause there CANADAIAN!!!!

  • @gizmo71969 It's a cluster fuck lol

  • 3rd alarm?

  • slowest bunch of firemen i've ever seen "in action" wth???

  • why does it take 3 guys to wrap a hydrant?? just sayin!! this fire was intense and quick!! esp inh the middle of the day. what was the cause?

  • I admire the patrol units burning their hands off to try and put out the spot fire!

  • Wow took them a while to respond. I live in Chicago there was a fire near my house took them 2 mins to get to it be4 it spread. yeah 2 mins. now thats fast.

  • one day i saw fire

  • @JayrocAlmighty *Slow clap*

  • the second truck turned up as a back up with structure fires you should have more than 1 appliance vehicle just in case if you seen the house on the other side it should explain every thing about a second appliance and why they should be there

  • poor fire...

  • *puuuh* my god

  • Why did the second truck show up for, no clue what they were doing.

  • @hangingup running more water for them

  • @hangingup for some reason there is antoher fire on the other side of the street o.o

  • Just wants to say a big well done to all these brave men and women

  • This video must be from the bizzaro universe, everything about it was ass backwards.

  • Fire Truck crews next the fire hydrant is slow.

    Bobby from Fleener Web Hosting

  • really cause of that

  • crack house

  • Good vid except i am LOLing at Beavis and Butthead on the right that can't put out a little fire while a giant house is burning behind them XD

  • Good video worst firefighting I ever saw

  • I feel so bad and how did it start

  • @mrHippo488 a malfunctioning toilet

  • a newly build house will fully ingulf in 8 minutes.!

  • How many people does it take to catch a plug...

  • @the puppet magician LDH = large diameter hose, a "pipe" is the hydrant and the 2.5 = two and a half inch hose. I understand that different fire dept's have policies on what they do, and it may be very different in Canada but here in the USA we like to save houses.......

  • @timmyj83 i dont think its fair to judge an entire country based off something one department did, pretty assholeish and typical american thing to say

  • Holy shit! :(

  • In my 9 years of being a firefighter I have never seen a piss poor excuse of a fire attack, the first engine from the looks of the vid had one line going to that fire and it prob wasn't a 2.5 the 2nd engine pulled up and the only thing they did right was empty the air tanks with the horn to get that shit head away from the pipe. 4 guys to hook a pipe are you kidding me?!?! And why didn't that 2nd truck lay the LDH up to the first truck!!!??? Remind me never to go to Canada

  • @timmyj83 whats a ldh and all that mean?

  • @thepuppetmagician LDH= Large Diameter Hose

  • @timmyj83 Sad right, this is the 2nd time i have seen this video and each time i just shake my head, nearly 4-5 minutes to establish a steady water supply when the hydrant was only 100-200 feet away? Piss poor excuse of a fire attack, I did however see 2 lines working the fire but it took over 2 minutes to get the first line pumping! The fire could have been contained and not let out of control, Lack of training or just lazy fire fighters contributed to a worse incident then needed.

  • why would you park a fire truck in the smok move it done some

  • that is very scary!! Real Heros are Firefighters and cops and all the first responders you guys are really true heroes!!

  • First off, love the bonehead driving the utility truck and parking in front of the hydrant. Second, it takes 4 firefighters to hook up the hydrant? Should have dropped one guy off at the hydrant and used the engine to lay the supply line to the first in engine, not hand jack the hose for 2 blocks!

  • I was there when that happend. I was ridding my bike on the sidewalk all the sunden lots of smoke hit at me. i could not breathe i was in tears. I got stuck in there at 0:51. A fighterfighter got me out the a women named Araira who owrks in the ambluse took care of me. Till this day I am still in the hostiple. I can come home once in a while but I do have trouble breatheing alot.

  • that shit flashedover

  • You guys are obviously not from "Sylvan Lake" and what you call "arm chair ref's". The fire department in Sylvan Lake is "Volunteer" thus got their butts from work or what ever to deal with this.

This fire was preventable btw, hope the owners had good insurance cause they are going to need it.

But I am sure the person that decided to build those houses so close together like they continue to do in this province should give their heads a shake.

  • @Gooseman241 It doesn't matter if this was a vol. or paid dept. it's all about training.

  • these firefighters need to train with the hydrant more often! those guys give firefighters a bad name

  • I hope everyone in that neighborhood leaves soon.

  • What caused this to happen?

  • i love how everybody decides its time to walk their dog they just need an excuse to come out and watch

  • @420leadville719 they probably had to be evacuated and so they brought there pets with them

  • Comment removed

  • Omg haha....i cant believe what the power crew did...the parked RIGHT in front of the hydrant.

  • @AdamIowa89 In black neighborhoods they just come out and stare all up in your business...LoL..No dogs needed.

  • @chrisx2k6 I think you replied to the wrong comment

  • @AdamIowa89

    And direct in the Smoke...

  • thats a mean looking fire...bad situation in regards to finding any truck placement...wind is blowing that nasty shit right in any decent spot they could find. Too much smoke will cause the truck to "choke" and then shut down..when your truck shuts down..then you have no agua haha. scary situation but a good job considering the odds weren't stacked in your favor at all.

  • That engine on the cornershould have keyed that hydrant then gone to the front of the fire building stretching hose behind it. No reason for 3 guys to be setting up a hydrant either. That line could have been stretched in half the time. Where was their officer? Not that you should need one to tell you to get your ass in gear.

  • @jacobeast1 i agree americian firefighters work 2 guys jump out of the truck when firetruck 1st rolls on seen hook to the hydrent the truck rools uo to the seen rest of the firefighters get to work well it seems you people in canida do things backwords up there

  • They used 3 because of the fact that it would get them able to move it alot faster... they probably parked the truck where they did for access to a hydrant... who knows... But don't judge the firemen... Could you do any better? and also, the 3 were probs all used because they wanted the faster process because until they had water, nothing could be done.

  • @sharxtooth Yes as a matter of fact, I can. And have. ONE guy checks the hydrant and lets the chauffeur know it's good. That same guys hooks the supply line to the hydrant ; the chauffeur moves the rig to the fireground. The other TWO firemen stretch the line and get water from the booster on the fire. The chauffeur tells the hydrant guy to open it. He does so and and moves up to his position on the line. No excuse for 3 guys to be working a hydrant. Or dragging ass doing it.

  • PATHETIC, paid or volunteer, why dose it take 3 people to run hose from hydrant to truck... someone didnt use their head and pre plan any of this, did they??? that or they were on vacation that day... i may have trouble pulling charged line up a tight stairwell, or even fitting thru a confined space, but let me tell you, the day it takes me help to set up a hydrant while someones home is burning is the day i quit the fire service... GLAD THIS IS IN CANADA INSTEAD OF THE STATES... STAY SAFE BRO

  • Can we think fire fighter safety? why would you park your unit in the smoke plum? Not to mention why does it take 3 fire fighters to set up a hose from the hydrant to the truck? have these guys been trained before? I just hope we never see this in the United States. I feel sorry for the residents. I hope they complain to the city because if they pay a fire protection tax that needs to be revised. All i have to say is TRAIN AND PRE PLAN.

  • Can we think fire fighter safety? why would you park your unit in the smoke plum? Not to mention why does it take 3 fire fighters to set up a hose from the hydrant to the truck? have these guys been trained before? I just hope we never see this in the United States.

  • Can we think fire fighter safety? why would you park your unit in the smoke plum?

  • if i were the fireman there id be totally embarressed oh my . thats the worst ive seen yet in firefighting .

  • I hope this never happens again. But, if it does, 4 words for the fire department--

    "Fire Hydrants-Deck Guns".

Also, the town needs to pre-plan. Sounds like the fire department had to battle traffic on the way. Get the RPMC to close streets if there is only one way in. But, given the FD was probably all volunteer, they did the best they could.

  • OMG.....

  • What happend to a forward lay

  • What the f#ck took them so long to catch the plug?

  • Lightweight Construction, cheaper but it goes up quick in fire.
