@TJH3113 I really enjoy your videos. You have so many but the Rush is for the most part flawless. My wife and I just shake our heads sometimes watching you. But any way it is cool that you embrace this heavier music. Rush too is my favorite band but I do like some heavy stuff. Great covering the medal too so that would be cool to see you in action in the future. Thanks for your work I continue to enjoy it routinely over the years now. Hope all is well with the WIfe and the 300 cats.
Thanks a lot. I don't like too much really heavy stuff, just certain things like this song. We're still holding steady at 6 cats but keep watching the news, I'm sure we'll be on there one day.
Great video. Been playing bass for a # of years but this one I have been having a hard time with. You sound spot on- you play by ear or tabs? because the tabs online are horrendous. I was able to get it down pretty good and try out with my band. Thanks so much!
Thanks. I actually did a tutorial for this song that might be of additional help to you. I play some of the trickier parts slowed down and stuff like that. I learned by ear myself. Thanks for letting me know that you found it useful.
I really love this cover and your STP covers. How do you get your bass to sound so punchy and cut thru so well? So many bass sounds I hear sound flabby and muddy, like not enough pick attack or something
Thanks. I think my sound is clear because I play at a very low volume and place an external microphone just a few inches away from my amp (a small guitar practice amp with a 5" speaker) and my computer speakers. I think many people use large amps, play too loud, and too far away from the microphone/camera.
No, it wasn't. Stupid me never even made the connection until I saw this comment. I don't know if you can see it, but he's holding a piece of chicken. The piece was made by Terry Cruikshank. He makes these great "handmade","one of a kind" horror figures. Take care.
I was kidding of course but you're right, they are hard to find. A store near me has been waiting over two years for their order to be sent from the factory. while I like mine a lot, I think they're a bit overpriced. I remember when they used to cost $425.
OK, sorry. This is my home. It's just my wife and I so we turned this room into a study/computer/mask room. If I ever grow up we can put something else in the display area.
Not terribly expensive considering the quality but you can judge for yourself. Just do a search for Deathstudios and Darksidestudio on Google or something.
hey man i dig your playing i am currently working on learning this song and i always revert back to your video i am in iraq right now and can only get tabs online and they dont match up to what you play which is a bummer cause yours sounds spot on
@maxwellwolfgang Thank you. There are some really odd note choices in this song. It took some time to get them right - a lot of oddball half-step stuff. If you get stuck I could post the trouble spots for you played slowly so you could follow along, just let me know. Stay safe over there. Thanks.
@kalisota I didn't know that but I can see it now that you mention it. I'm not a big hard rock guy but I love this song. If someone from another planet wanted to know what a good, hard rock song sounded like, I would play this or "Man In The Box" for them as an example.
nice job, nice bass
